Casual Hoya seems to be having some serious problems today.** I smell foul play from the sweatstained Orange faithful. ** Umm, I mean, so I hear. I never read that blog. Damn smart ass kids posting from their parents' basements. HOYA SAXA!! (I am going to get nothing done today. I probably shouldn't be investing so much in this one game, but I just hate them so damn much). Some kind of DDoS attack, with origins in the PRC. 'cuse has apparently finally teamed up with our other recent nemesis, the People's Liberation Army, in a red-orange alliance designed to shut down the hopes and dreams of the Free World.

Ideally, point guard Scoop Jardine said, the Orange can force Georgetown to play that type of game Wednesday.
"Nothing scares me about their team," Jardine said. "We just know we have to come in and play Syracuse basketball. If we do that, it should be a great game, and I think we should get a win."

Yeah, that's the guy. That one right there. Lights out.

Time to drum up some "nobody believed in us" mojo for tonight.
No one is giving Gtown a shot...not Vegas, not Fab Melo's boyfriend Seth Davis...Scoop is talking trash.
Let's go Hoyas.

We need the right people making decisions with the ball tonight. To me, that means Henry, Otto, Markel (despite his A/TO ratio), Jason and Hollis - probably in that order. It definitely does not mean Nate, Greg or Mikael - not bashing them, they just are not ready yet to make good quick decisions against the Cuse defense.

Scoop is correct no one player on this team should scare him if you go by the numbers. Unlike last year, with Freeman putting up big numbers to carry the Hoyas, this is a more balanced team. I am sure he is remembering also how last year,s team did not make the hard and determined cuts needed if certain players shots were not falling, so I sure he is confident in his statement. If the Hoyas are to win, theft will do it with the same togetherness that got them through the China fiasco, the same communication on defense that won the Louisville game and the same collective will that erased the 17 point Marquette lead for a win. Nope Scoop there really is not one player or thing that you should fear. So let the game begin.

KEYS to win imo.. keep score in the 60's,, hit at least seven foul line jumpers vs their 2-3 zone henry nate otto and maybe jason and hollis.. no more than 12 turnovers... two of three players.... jabril..markel and or greg must get at least ten points... get outrebbied by no more than seven rebbies.. and THAT SHOULD DO IT... alot to ask but what the heck YOU CAN DO IT.... will need not an A game as hollis said but an A+ game!!!1 go hoyas beat cuse.. the keys are.....KEY . I've got a good feeling about this game. Syracuse is due for another loss and we are due for another great win. Stay focused, play well, and we will see what happens.

I was at the game and you are correct. "Manley Field House is officially closed" were the first words Coach Thompson spoke at the podium in the press room after the game. Thank God he didn't grab the microphone and shout it to the crowd - I would never have gotten out of there alive.

I'm assuming the answer is no, but is there any footage or a recording of "Manley Field House is officially closed" that exists today? Would so love to see or hear that.

11 point dogs according to the LA Times. That is a BIG spread. If I were a betting man, I'd take some of that. Jason Hart and the Trisches are cousins? In case anyone is interested, Jason Hart is now the coach of the Taft High basketball team - probably the best team in LA City. Could mean more LA talent heading to the polar climes.

Dan I guess you weren't on the bus that was stoned on the way back to the Hotel Syracuse. At the time my thoughts were that this was like being on the Gaza strip.

The comparisons between Syracuse and the Gaza strip are not off-base in the least.

Dan I guess you weren't on the bus that was stoned on the way back to the Hotel Syracuse. At the time my thoughts were that this was like being on the Gaza strip. I missed that fun as 10 of us rented 2 Ford Taurus and drove up that day, had dinner at tarkman's house, went to the game, and then drove back to DC that night. All in a snowstorm. Jeff Bullis later told me he leaned out the team bus window as it left Manley and asked people walking away who won, then delivered some version of "yeah, and we kicked your ass" - which encouraged more friendly behavior. And no, I don't believe anyone was recording postgame press conferences back then. I've never seen any footage.

As a Hoya who resides 15 km from the Gaza Strip I agree!! I also remember having our bus window broken by a brick when leaving the Carrier Dome I think in 1982.

My memory is also that the quote came in the post game press conference. I like the story that JT, Jr. grabbed the PA mike better, though.
Second best story is Smitty going coast to coast to beat SUcks (1989?) after they had scored to go ahead with 5 seconds to play. Place went from 30,00 screaming Orange fans to dead silence to 200 screaming Hoya fans in a nanosecond. I was there for that one.
