To quote Teddy KGB from Rounders (with the worst Russian accent in the history of cinema), "Pay the man his money."

The Kraft family have the multiple event process down to a science at Gillette, with their Bass Pro Shops anchored shopping destination right next door.

Agree. Pay him whatever it takes. May not keep getting money if you don’t. I don’t think it’s a good precedent to set going forward. it’s only year two, not a time to act desperate

Don't disagree on the the Goldstein tweet but NCAA is also to blame as an organization because it lacked leadership and vision. The leadership of the NCAA is its governing board which is made up of administrators from its member schools. Emerett or Baker are the rules enforcers not makers

If ever there was a time to overpay, it’s this weekend to secure Cliff O. I think we get it done.

Impressive number for Big East. Guessing GU does not have anyone on that list.

I do not have any inside information on this, but it does not seem like we have a Jerry Jones type who is willing to bankroll the Arkansas basketball team in the hopes of buying a title. Rather, we have worked hard to put together a solid amount from a number of folks and that may not continue to bankroll us.
Individual donors are very fickle. They can dry up quickly without seeing a return on their contribution.

Thanks DFW. Sounds like what they are referring to events may be small corporate events that are offshoots of larger events (like a large corporate party at a Dallas Cowboys game). Obviously they earn revenue. I guess the question is how much.

Think you are putting too much stock in professional titles as a measure of alumni wealth. Georgetown has members of royal families and international billionaires as alumni. Those people are not attending Texas Christian University. Familial wealth runs deep. We have the money to scrap together to pay a damn 21 year old center. If we don’t, again, maybe it’s time to pick a new focus. It’s a brave new world out there. Yep. Just seems like the rich keep getting richer while we are content with "trying to get the best value" and not wanting to overpay for top-tier talent. We don't have the advantages that some other schools have, and NIL is what we should be using to even the playing field... but we're not.

Forbes continuing to innovate in the areas of higher-brow clickbait. MSM obliging them with earned media, e.g., www.fox5dc.com/news/two-dc-area-schools-make-new-ivy-league-colleges-list.ampIt's worth a longer post, but in short, many of the proffered issues with the Ancient Eight (and four 'Ivy-Plus' schools, which feels both arbitrary and wrong, since UChicago and MIT are very culturally different from the Ivies, Stanford, and Duke) are also present at Georgetown. A key question for the school will be how it marshals it's resources - including historical and cultural - to keep undergrads rooted in what was once termed the Reality-Based Community, rather than in the comforting but detached world of ideological daydreaming.

Agreed, no division 1 football, no home court areana, yes these kids live basketball but these 4 years of college will be something they remember forever. They want to have the ultimate fun experience.
Georgetown participates in FCS football, which is Division I but not at the same funding level.--Admin
