III's system requires that the 4 position have the ability to float the 3 point line on offense....so that is why we can't go really big with vauhn+sims and/or moses What about when Benimon is in at the 4 position? Or when Monroe played the 4 last year? I don't disagree that it is helpful to have a 4 that can shoot in our offense, but it doesn't seem like a good enough reason to me.

I'm glad that Austin Effin Freeman and four hobos off the streets of Newark showed up to play in tonight's game.

Having the 4 float to the three point line is more for the purpose of having him pass from the top in the princeton scheme than to be a shooting threat. I'm not convinced that any such marginal ability that Benimon has over a Vaughn/Sims/Moses in such a role outweighs the countervailing factors.

Monroe had the mobility to play 4 that Julian and Henry don't. They can't drive and aren't threats from out there. Monroe could was a threat to drive, and was a small threat to shoot. Benimon has the mobility and also has knocked down a few threes. Much like Nate.

Half summary for those who can't watch: 1) Austin shooting well. Julian looking very good with his touches in the post. 2) Our guards not staying in front of them on D. 3) Pretty quick half--not too many fouls either way. 4) Some dumb turnovers against their press--our guards should be better against this. 5) O-rebounding percentage is going to be high for both teams.

Was there an errant and confusing whistle? I am baffled. Freeman passed it in to Wright with 2.5 seconds left in the half and he just caught the ball and stopped to let the clock run out. There was no one within 10 feet of him.

Moses had problem simply distributing the ball from the top of the key, which is kind of a important skill for gtown big men. He'll be great, but he's nowhere close to ready yet... It then becomes an issue of 3 being too stubborn to adapt his system to the team's personnel. This is the same logic Jim O'Brien used to keep Roy nailed to the bench in Indy for the longest time. FREE! So you think JTIII should change his system to help a project freshman who can do little more than dunk at the moment? Seriously? I'd much prefer he practice for a year so that simple passes aren't an ordeal, so he can contribute his sophomore year...

I'm glad that Austin Effin Freeman and four hobos off the streets of Newark showed up to play in tonight's game. Julian had a great half. And Clark/Starks played decent D on Hazell. So only 2 hobos and Benimon.

I don't think I've ever seen a team take a knee at the end of the half like that.
