Tiger will be back, and I will support him when he does make his comeback. I honestly think he will be back in the middle of the year, in time for a couple tune-up tournaments before the British Open at St. Andrews, where he has never lost. It's probably best for him to take a break, and get out of the public eye for a while. But who knows, he could be back for the U.S. Open at Pebble Beach, where he won by an astonishing 15 shots in 2000. Those two courses really suit his game well, and it would be a shame if ended up missing either of them.
I don't condone his actions, but I have been a fan of his since 1996 before he turned pro, and I'm not going to abandon him because he made some mistakes. He is still an incredible athlete, he has totally transformed his sport, and he is a few more major championships away from begining undisputably the greatest golfer of all time. More so, I am just as much sickened by the media's recent coverage of Tiger as the man's own infidelities. That Tiger's sex life has become such a public spectacle is truly sickening, for whatever wrong he did, it's something that really should be kept private. I blame the gossip magazines for bringing down not only Tiger, but numerous other celebrities. No one is perfect, and I still have a lot of respect for Tiger Woods.
American society usually ends up being pretty forgiving, and I think time heals all wounds. In addition to the sports examples already mentioned, I think Bill Clinton is a good example of someone who has persevered over scandal. While he almost certainly will lose some endorsements, I think all Tiger needs is a little time, then he will go back to dominating the golf world and being the iconic figure that he is.

Poor poor Tiger. Wants to have unsafe sex with hookers, strippers and waitresses and then bring that potential disaster home to his wife. I'll root for him when i root for Nova and Cuse.
It's not a morality issue when it comes to serial sex outside of marriage. It's potentially life and death.

I honestly think he will be back in the middle of the year, in time for a couple tune-up tournaments before the British Open at St. Andrews, where he has never lost. He didn't win in 1995. ;D The Open has only been back twice since then, so it's not a huge sample size when you say he's never lost there.

IMO the last one is by far the best though not Tiger related Q. Do Nevada state prisoners have access to the Internet or did O.J. Simpson have to go to the local library to cast his Heisman Trophy ballot? (Charlie Tercek; Novelty, Ohio) A. Ring up another one, Shirl.

Here's one in the tradition of Elvado --
Q. What's the difference between Santa and Tiger Woods? A. Santa stops after 3 ho's.

However, he won by eight shots in 2000 and by five in 2005, so despite the small sample size, it seems he is pretty dominant there. The course is wide open, so he can use his length and spray it around a little bit, as long as he can avoid the big trouble (pot bunkers, the road, etc). Combine that with his 15-stroke victory at Pebble in 2000, and it would be a shame if he missed both of these tournaments at these courses this year. But we will see.

i wouldn't be shocked if he took PED's, but i'll wait for actual evidence rather than that hack plaschke writing about how tight his shirt looked. the entire around the horn cast needs to be sent fishing fredo style.

Kind of off the moment's topic, but where does Woods get off asking the media to respect a family he so readily and disgustingly disrespects?
When you show your wife and kids respect Eldrick, maybe others will as well.

I'm glad Elin's hightailing it out of there and saying screw the extra $ for sticking by him since she'll get plenty in the divorce as it is.

Well, color me surprised. It looks as if Tiger is preparing his comeback. A tightly-controlled news conference is scheduled for Friday. Some of the heckling will be merciless during tournaments, I think.

"News conference," my ass.
People get to ask questions at news conferences. Sometimes they even get to have them answered.
Why not just read a prepared statement over VTC there, Howard Hughes?

Tiger: "The course looks good, my swing feels good, I like my chances. Thank you very much for coming."

I certainly can't disagree. On the other hand, nobody would televise an open Q&A of Tiger without a significant delay on it. It'll be a circus in any event, I think. You can expect TMZ, British tabloids, and others to be there.

If anyone was expecting all this to make Tiger a different guy publicly, here's the answer. He's still going to be as much of a control freak as possible, say as little as possible, and he'll try to go right back to playing golf the same way. Maybe the TMZ circus won't let him, but he's not going to give an inch without being forced to. Not sure that's the best PR strategy long term, but I don't really think he cares.
