And some people think "The Witching Hour" is just folklore.

Nothing good ever happens after 2 AM. Nothing. Yeah, but in fairness, I think the expression is about being out at that time, not being at your home or a relative's home. As for the incident, I haven't heard any confirmation, but speculation is that it was Elin's mom. Also, I heard on the way to work this morning, that she has already been released from the hospital. On another note, as I said a week and a half ago, if this had been a normal person, there would have been an almost instinctual assumption of alcohol and/or drugs being involved. Well, as it works out, it looks like I might have been right after all. One officer reported smelling alcohol on Tiger and a witness said that Tiger had been drinking earlier and that additionally, he had been prescribed Ambien and Vicodin. Sadly, the subpeona requesting the medical blood work was denied. So the case is closed ... but I still have a hunch that there was a bit more to the story. Sporting News Flash just confirmed that it was Tiger's mother in law and that she was treated for stomach pains and is now in stable condition.

Nothing good ever happens after 2 AM. Nothing. Sorry dude, but this is just plain wrong. A lot of AMAZING things happen after 2AM when you are 18-26...maybe not so much before or after that.

I am not in that age bracket, but some pretty cool things continue to happen after 2 a.m. Of course, I am not married with two kids either. On the other hand, I am a two-day a week alcoholic, so you know, take what I say with a grain of salt.

Should have contest -- guess when Tiger returns. I say the Masters in April If Tiger wants to play in the Masters -- meaning if Tiger wants to win the Masters, of course -- he's going to have to come back at least one or two tournaments before that. I know he's Tiger Woods, but even he can't expect to come into Augusta completely cold in competitive golf and expect to win it.

I know he's Tiger Woods, but even he can't expect to come into Augusta completely cold in competitive golf and expect to win it. Even more important, he will need to get the media frenzy that will accompany his first tour appearance out of the way beforehand. Not that his first Major appearance won't also create a media storm, but at least SOME of that will die down. However, if this is about family first and he is sacrificing golf for family at this time, he may need to skip a major or two. Everyone knows the only tournaments Tiger really cares about are the Majors. Skipping the early part of the tour is not THAT big a sacrifice for him. We shall see how this all plays out. When I started this thread I knew there would be lots more to this story, but this thing has EXPLODED way beyond anything I could have imagined. One other thing, the TOUR needs Tiger more than he needs to TOUR. Nike, all the other competitors. Fascinating Human Drama. I hope for his sake and for Elin's and the kids, that he dedicates himself to his personal relationships with the same, incredible, single-minded focus that he does to golf. We'll see. Wish them all the best.

I'm not sure I buy this. We "know" ... at least as best as we can, that Elin is being "paid" to stay with him. Ok, I don't "know" that, but those rumors sure have had a lot of legs. I would think that there would be some kind of vocal outrage if there was absolutely no truth to them -- if not from Tiger or Elin, then from family members or at least planted PR people. I don't have anything against the guy as a person or as a player. I kind of resented his heyday, simply because the greedy fan in me wanted to see the drama unfold on Sunday at the Majors and during his prime runs, there wasn't much drama other than who would finish second.
In any case, I just wonder how much of this is truly an effort to save the marriage and family and how much of it is a sort of fatigue and wanting to get out of the limelight as much as possible. As others have mentioned, it will be a veritable circus when he does return and if he were to try to make that return in the early part of the season, then he would need to start getting ready pretty soon. That doesn't leave much time at all.
Then again, who's to say that a little competitive golf isn't what he really needs to get his mind off everything else. The one thing we know that the man can do best is put that little white ball in the hole when he really puts his mind to it.

In all honesty, I think Tiger is in the process of destroying PGA golf as we know it (or we're merely seeing the seeds of destruction sprout). For the last decade or thereabouts, it seems like every competitive golf story of any significance related to Tiger. if it was women's golf, he was still the measuring stick. Michelle Wie as the Tiger of women's golf. If it was men's golf, Tiger was always in the headlines even if he stunk up the tournament just because that in itself was news.
Now, how will any sportscaster talk about him seriously when he banged some Perkins waitress and had call girls or sleazy socialites in every city practically? The "right" thing to do would be to get behind Mickelson, but will the Golf Gods allow it, and will the fans buy in outside of the NY/NJ/CT area? It makes Pitino look like a family man and Marv Albert/Pee Wee Herman look normal. To the extent he wants to fix the situation and stay away from attractive women, I think most men on here would agree that he'd be well advised not to seek privacy in Sweden.
I am in the camp that believes Tiger will never golf again. If he has a problem like this, I don't think it is going away, media posturing aside. To the extent he wants it to go away, he's probably kidding himself that time away from golf will fix it when it is the golfer's transient lifestyle that got him into the mess in the first place. Not only that, but it may require extensive reform of his personal organization - caddies, assistants, etc. - who seem to walk a fine line at best.
In the end, it is a shame because Tiger could have stood for something better given the social issues that his stature has addressed in the game of golf. That he turned out to represent the worst of society does not help himself obviously, but, more importantly, has hurt others who would want the same opportunities that he had and squandered.

At the least, hopefully it will stop all the talk about Phil being a phony and putting on a show with his "nice guy act."

I've been a Phil fan for years and when I brought up how Tiger is just making him look better his response was "Well, it's not like the ladies are lining up for Phil and his moobs." Besides, Phil knows he's got it good with Amy.

Now, how will any sportscaster talk about him seriously when he banged some Perkins waitress and had call girls or sleazy socialites in every city practically? Hmmm, the same way they talked about Jordan? Or Kobe, or Wilt, or any other professional athlete ever. Will it be awkward at first? Yes. Will it die down soon? Yes. Remember, while Tiger is coming back from a multiple infidelities story, Kobe was coming back from a rape story. Now maybe the infidelity didn't seem like a big story because the rape story dominated and when that fell away, it was a no big deal. But Kobe held one awkward press conference, bought his wife a ring, came back to dominating, and he's as loved as ever. No one even thinks about it, let along mentions it. If Tiger handles it well, same thing will happen to him. There's a chance that because of the multiple girls and the fact that a different angle didn't dominate first and fall away, the comebacks will be different. Otherwise, once he's back on the course and gets through his first couple tournaments he'll be fine

Anyone want to bet that Julia Baugher - or whatever her name is - is caught up in this mess somehow? If only. But she is neither a socialite, a cocktail waitress or borderline attractive. She has enough reasons to hate her though: rebloggingns.wordpress.com/

I, for one, can never pull for Kobe again. I cannot pull for Ray Lewis again. And I, who pulled for Tiger to win every tournament he was in, can never pull for him again. If he plays again I will always hope one of his opponents wins.
