In case Kyle is reading you may want to list him as a "1". Its the position III is recruiting him for anyway.

Pretty much, tony, with one or two others. Everything shakes out after Sept. 20th.

"Ray (DC)
Why isn't Gtown nabbing any top flight recruits for 12-13? Maryland is stealing all of the thunder and the Hoyas haven't made any quality attempts at grabbing anyone. Pls enlightned me? Paul Biancardi (11:43 AM)
Are you ready to be enlightened about Georgetown? First, their 2011 class with Porer, Hopkins and Trawick was outstanding. As they go forward in 2012 and 2013, they are in the mix for Kyle Anderson and D'Vauntes Smith Rivera and in 2013 they are on Nate Britt hard. JTIII has a plan in his recruiting and its to get size with skill."
pretty spot on by Biancardi

It's always interesting to me to see some of the local "experts" on this board rip on local recruits like Hopkins, Britt to some extent, Kendall Marshall, when people outside of the region really like these guys. Maybe it's just a fact that people that see more of a prospect will notice their flaws more than their strengths - heck, that often happens in the NBA Draft where older players often end up drafted lower than they would have if they had left college earlier.

I liked the signing of Hopkins despite the fact that several people I respected hated it. I was cool with it because 1)he was a local recruit 2)even more he went to MY DeMatha 3)he has loads of talent/potential and 4)the Hoyas seemed to have beat out heavy-hitters like Kansas for him. With that being said I understood why folks were down on him. The guy disappeared in far too many games or was simply a non-factor way too often. What did he end up? Third Team All-Met? Honorable mention? That's a joke considering his capabilities and his high standing going into his senior year. Because of this I too had my doubts about whether he would end up being any good in college. The signs may look better now that he will, but you can't fault folks here for being weary of ANOTHER recruit that had to be motivated to play up to his potential.

I was entirely skeptical of Hopkins. Not as down as some folks, but basically for the reasons MCI mentioned.
I am not so skeptical anymore after a ton of positive reviews of him in Kenner, a series of games where a lot of people slack.

And as to Marshall, I don't think anyone ever said he wasn't any good, just that he wasn't a good fit in the Hoya system. What's wrong with that?

No, there were a few of us who thought he was highly overrated because of his subpar senior season as well. I'm still not totally convinced about the guy. Roy's system in UNC often leads to inflated numbers IMO.

Now tht we landed DSR, what are our chances of landing upshaw and pollard? Would these 2 guys round out our 2012 class??

If we get one of those two, count us as doing VERY well. Someone somewhere posted that we are at a point that if Upshaw, Parker, Pollard or Warren (I think those were the names) want to come then we will find a way. Other than that, we may hold until 2013.......with someone like Dotson being a possibility if something else opens up that we don't expect. With our 2011 class and the number of guys we are on in 2013, a DSR/Bolden class in 2012 is really pretty solid if that's where it stays.

I disagree Bronx. With the class we brought in in 2011. A small recruiting class would be absolutely fine. Remember right now all our scholarships for 2012 are currently spoken for with DSR and Bolden. Now some may become available in the spring, but with only 1 guaranteed to be available in 2013( Hollis') I am perfectly fine with our 2012 recruiting class only being DSR and Bolden. If we take more in 2012 it will hinder our 2013 recruiting.

We don't absolutely NEED another guy for next season, but if one of the studs is ready to be a Hoya we need to take him. I don't think there is any question that Hollis will be gone, so fill the spot if we get talent.

The more footage I watch of TJ Warren, the more I think he'd be a better fit in the Georgetown offense than at UNC or Florida. Guy is a tremendous talent and very skilled, but I don't think he's built for the run-and-gun. Game is reminiscent of Antoine Walker.
Also think that Robert Upshaw is a far better fit at Georgetown than Louisville for similar reasons. Think he'd thrive in a more structured, deliberate offense than the helter-skelter stuff Pitino runs.
Here's hoping they both agree with me and become Hoyas. I love Tony Parker as well, but seems like he is keeping us in it more for his folks. And Pollard seems to want to play in the run-n-gun, which makes sense because he's a gazelle.
My current dream class: DSR, Warren, Bolden, and Upshaw.

Agree TP....that would be a dream class.
As far as how many guys we take....I'm in the camp that says we get as many studs as we can now.....even if it means we have no schollies open for 2013. With the CBB landscape shifting under our feet, i don't feel we have the luxury patiently adding a player or two a year in hope that they all gell in two or three years from now. We have to put together a squad of winners and make a deep tourney run by next year. The best way to ensure Georgetown's basketball future remains bright is to win and win now.

Saving gets us in trouble. If any of the 4 2012 guys (Warren, Pollard, Parker, Upshaw) want in, they're in. You cannot deny any of those players a spot because there's a chance that a 2013 recruit will come. I want Williams and Jordan too, but blueandgray is spot on in his logic. The most important thing right now is winning as much as possible, as soon as possible.
