It seems like a lot of the national analysts are high on Robinson, while many of the local people on this board say he's nothing special. Reminds me a bit of Mikael Hopkins last year. Not to mention, Kendall Marshall.

Not to mention, Kendall Marshall. True, although with Marshall, I felt like a lot of it was that he committed to UNC and people here wanted to think Starks was the better PG in that class.

Kendall Marshall at Georgetown would've been a lot different then what you saw at UNC. Picking the right fit is most important in selecting a school. What Marshall does well helped UNC due to the teammates he has. If he played same way at Georgetown he did at UNC--the program would've faired same or worse then they did last year. Not a great outside shooter, needs ball in his hands (Georgetown PG in halfcourt often plays off the ball), weak defensive player (Roy Williams/UNC best defense is their offense), and he committed a lot of turnovers-which the team already did more then needed to beat the caliber of opponents you see consistently in Big East.
Markel Starks will get his chance to play significant role this year. Let's wait before we want to bury Markel Starks as a mistake.

I agree with your points about Marshall. What I am saying is that there were plenty of people on this board saying Marshall wasn't that great of a prospect, period. I remember people mentioning that he wasn't good enough to play at the UNC level. I believe much of that was based on some Hoyas' fans wanting to believe Starks was the better prospect at PG, since he was ours and Marshall wasn't. We'll see who ends up the better player over the long haul, but based on the first year, it seems like Marshall has a leg up.

I don't know where else to put this.... I was in DC for the USOpen last week Stayed at the Key Bridge Mariott I didnt see any WAG tees while there but on Friday morning saw a very tall 6'10 to 7' thin young man in basketball shorts walking around the lobby going to the dining room. Any idea who he might have been?

Telep and Biancardi have been absolutely raving about James Robinson this week, saying that he makes the game simple, he embodies the position, and he is a winner. Maybe we've been wrong. I think the Marshall comparisons make a lot of sense at this point.

I think the Marshall comparisons make a lot of sense at this point. Who's comparing him to Marshall? Marshall was a Top 20 kid in the rankings -- Telep may be raving about James Robinson but I'd be shocked if he makes it there. The Marshall hate also reeked of people focusing on negatives rather than positives. I'd have to see Robinson more, but the one time I did see him he was positively atrocious. I'd trust the staff to eval, but the love behind him seems to be entirely because he's local and DeMatha -- there were some posts saying we should take him just to keep DeMatha happy (good lord no) -- so I'm waiting to see if anyone makes him a higher ranked recruit than say, Markel.

All I know is he has been taking unofficial visits the past few weekends, but I dont know to where they have been. He is 7 foot and only 220 but is a five star Center for 2012

Any chance we can get on Woodbury? We need to add one top big in '12, be it Drummond, Kaleb, Parker, etc...

It'd be nice to get a big, but it's not a need for '12. With the current guys plus Bolden, that gives us five guys at the 4/5. Now, '13 is where Hoyas will need a big and Noel is top priority. Meeks and Anya are also options at both spots.
Right now a 1 or 1/2 is needed.

We need that too, but with K. Anderson we get that 1 or 1/2/3/4. But, a top big like the ones listed (not just another big) who can contribute immediately puts us Top 10 for '12.

And remember a spot always seems open up (hopefully because someone going to the draft, not a transfer). So if a big leaves there's the spot you can use on a big.

Not entirely sure hyper-activity blends well with the Princeton offense.

Might blend well with full-court press.

I think #4 player in his class blends well with winning.

James Robinson was named a top-3 defender by ESPN at the Deron Williams Skills Camp.
"Robinson is one of the best all-around point guards in the class. He defends his position with his strong body and low, wide stance. Robinson understands how much room to give his man and he closes out under control, which allows him to take away the jumper or anticipate the drive. He also levels dribble penetration by moving his feet and using body as a barrier. He is alert on the weak side to help and is always ready to rotate."
