espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/blog/_/name/katz_andy/id/6709434/drummond-play-uconn-2011Drummond won't play for UConn in 2011The speculation about whether 6-foot-10 Andre Drummond, the No. 1 player in 2012 (currently at St. Thomas More School in Middletown, Conn.), could end up playing in the fall at UConn is over. It's not happening. According to Drummond's representatives, including his mother, he will not be in college this fall but will instead go for a post-graduate year. That plan is St. Thomas More for now.

James Robinson was named a top-3 defender by ESPN at the Deron Williams Skills Camp. "Robinson is one of the best all-around point guards in the class. He defends his position with his strong body and low, wide stance. Robinson understands how much room to give his man and he closes out under control, which allows him to take away the jumper or anticipate the drive. He also levels dribble penetration by moving his feet and using body as a barrier. He is alert on the weak side to help and is always ready to rotate." Wasn't one of the knocks we read on Robinson that his defense was very sub-standard? I'm confused.

It's a Camp of guards--and they play 3 on 3 most of the time with drills/instructional stuff. James Robinson hype is outta control. I believe he's improved and good for him-but it would take a lot for him to be considered a good defensive player after what I have seen and from a guy on Rivals who watched him in LA at the EYBL and lauded his improvement, he even mentioned that he's a defensive liability, so it's nothing biased from myself or the pro Robinson guys who are Hoya fans. Defensive description is something that Jason Clark doesn't understand going into his SR year though, so hopefully that type of intelligence carries over if the kid ended up at Georgetown.

Damn, Jamal Lewis (Sidwell Friends - DC) commits to Penn: blogs.dailypennsylvanian.com/thebuzz/2011/07/01/jamal-lewis-is-first-2012-hoops-commit/I was hoping he'd wait until the spring signing period in case we needed guard help late in the process. Natural local pick up in that case. He's not much of a shooter, but he's as good if not better than James Robinson or Joe McDonald defensively/as a passer. In the top 2 or 3 of local PGs, and plays point for the DCA 17Us along with Britt, Fenner and Jenkins.

and yet andy katz reported last week that he had. I'm starting to understand why all the Uconn fans are sick of following this non recruitment. Wake me up when he commits. Actually, Katz's comment that Drummond's decision was final was met with sarcastic comments like "UCONN won the naitonal championship??" comments over on the UCONN board since it was such a well known "fact" for weeks. The strange part of AD's recruitment, that until now, he hasn't said a word. His high school coach has said that AD's mom wants him to go go to school for another year for post grad work and if that changes, they'll "let you know". They've played things very close to the vest unlike many of the recruitments that have become sideshows and ego trips. Besides Goodman's one on one, I believe Drummond has done one at length interview in the past year. Every other article has regurgitated comments from that and from a few comments by his coach and "secret sources".

well that's why it's frustrating. There's no actual new info about him because he's not concerned about his recruitment. And I don't think he will be until the new CBA is in place. But there's still a "new" article every week on him.

Stefan Jankovic per Rivals
"If I gave you three right now, it would probably be Wake Forest, Georgetown, and Michigan," he said.
Meh.

Agreed on Jankovic bronx, but not Davis. I know you don't care for slow-footed guards, but I think our current team could've absolutely used a pure shooter with range like Myles. Losing Clark and potentially Hollis after this season will leave a void when it comes to shooting from distance. I think Davis was really the only '12 guy we were recruiting that could fill that void. Oh well, good luck to him at Xavier.

Looks like we have made the cut for a couple of top prospects following the summer session. As I see it, we are still in the hunt for the following 2012 prospects, which is pretty impressive. If Hollis were to leave for the NBA, we'd have four scholarships to give (three + Bolden). Let's hope we can close on a couple this year.
1: LJ Rose, Joe Rahon 2: Archie Goodwin, D'vauntes Smith-Rivera 3: Kyle Anderson, TJ Warren, Xavier Johnson 4: Devonta Pollard, Stefan Jankovic, Brandon Bolden 5: Andre Drummond, Tony Parker, Landen Lucas, Blaise Mbargorba
