There's a cancer somewhere. Don't know what it is, but we need to fix it now. My thoughts exactly... Don't turn this board into Gossip Girl again...

To be honest I think it comes down to what I was saying last year. You can't have a 3 guard offense, because you just give up way too many rebounds and easy buckets.
Last year it should have been: C: Hibbert PF: Ewing (Active Rebounder) SF: Summers (decent Rebounder at the 3)
instead it was C: Hibbert PF: Summers (Not a rebounding PF) SF: Freeman (undersized short armed SG) or Jeremiah Rivers (undersized Worthless SG)
This year it should be: C: Monroe PF: Simms/Vaugh (rebounders or 6-9 Meschirkov (has length and athleticism and spreads the floor with his 3 Pt threat) SF: Summers (decent rebounder at the 3)
instead: C: Monroe PF: Summers SF: Freeman or Clark
I think it's always been that simple but maybe the Princeton Offense demands 3 Guards. I dunno.

Don't turn this board into Gossip Girl again... Don't misread this - I'm not talking about chemistry, or any individual players - but something is way wrong, and needs to be cut out and rehabbed.

Last year's team was 15-3 in the Big East and Ewing was in there at the end of games so I don't think the three-guard critique fits that team. If Vaughn or Sims or Nikita were in any way like PEJr they would be in there. We don't have a guy like Pat.

There was no reason to play him 25 minutes a game and have Rivers, etc in their playing 25 minutes as well. I think Freeman is the problem right now. He's not giving us the offense that compensates for the amount of defense and rebounding we give up having him at the 3 Spot. He just is lacking Energy this year for some reason. In the UConn and Syracuse games he showed up but he was having problems early in the season too. The fire just isn't there.

I also get the feeling this team isn't in very good shape. We have no legs at the end of games or under our shots. We loop lazy passes around and our defense deteriorates over the course of the game. The only player who looks like he's in half-decent shape is dajuan. Thoughts? I think Freeman's Girth has caught up to him this year. I felt he was a little heavy last year but it didn't have any negative effect on him. He seems heavier this year and not as good of a player. If he's not scoring he's a liability because we give up rebounding and height by having him as a 3rd guard when we could have a Forward with height/size like Meschrikov/Simms/Vaughn at the 3 or 4. This has been a concern of mine since he has been here. This kid was a legit McDonald's All American who looked about 20 lbs lighter in high school. The extra wait seems to have slowed him down and shorten his jumping ability. I agree that if he is not shooting lights out he is a liability on defense and rebounding trying to guard a 6'5" and up small forward. JT3 needs to jump start this team by benching Sapp and start Freeman at the 2 guard.

Huh? Freeman is slow - so we should now have him cover a guard??? I believe he is saying that Freeman at the 2 with Simms/Vaugh/Meschirvkov at the 3 along with Summers and Monroe would greatly improve the Rebounding and Interior Defense (prevent the garbage ORB and Putbacks that teams are getting). Plus offensively he could post up most guards easily.

Somebody needs to sit Wright down and explain to him that his job is to facilitate the offense. I know he scored some points tonight, but 9 out of 10 times he is out of control and some of his threes were terrible shots. In the beginning of the year when we were all praising Chris he was setting up his teammates. Now it looks to me he is not interested in anything but getting his own. I am not even going to start to talk about his defense.

Quick numbers, for people looking for them: Rebounding virtually even, 32.4 OR% for us v. 33.3 OR% for them Turnovers 19.7% for us, 23.0% for them 0 blocks credited to the Hoyas Only 10 assists on 22 made FGs (45%), while Cincy had 14 on 22 (64%) Key number: Hoyas were 17 of 38 from inside the arc, Bearcats 14 of 25

In the beginning of the year when we were all praising Chris he was setting up his teammates. Now it looks to me he is not interested in anything but getting his own. I am not even going to start to talk about his defense. This struck me recently as the biggest potential source of our recent trouble. I think of the way Sapp/Wallace ran the offense in previous years. Get the ball up, make a quick pass, BOOM! moving without the ball into space, creating space for other players, just generally making the offense forcibly move itself to create opportunities. I just haven't seen anything like this with Chris at point. I've seen some things about Sapp recently, couldn't pass into the post, etc. In my opinion, he was always making the offense move. Him and Jon just understood the basic principles of our Motion offense and how to make it work even without the ball. EDIT: ANd we can say what we want about not hitting open shots, but JT3 makes a great point when he says an open three isn't necessarily a good three. Plays are designed to put guys in position for 'their shot'. Coming off a screen, curling around the line, different guys are just better at different spots on the floor. Coach knows this and the plays are designed to exploit that by getting each individual player into spots where they are most successful. An open three out of this offense right now isn't a good three with the way it's being run.

Crisis of confidence and leadership. Immense amount of talent being wasted. Have been upbeat all year, but now wondering if the team that I saw dismantle UCONN was an aberration. We just may not be there maturity wise. Still want to believe we will return to form, but having serious doubts.

Did we have 1 back cut tonight? I think after all the forced cuts/passes over the past 3 games, we just decided to give up on it...

Die hard Hoya fan from Cincinnati and absolutely despise the Bearcats. And I apologize if this is inappropriate. Here is a snippet of what's being said:
“We’re getting our feet on the ground,” said junior guard Deonta Vaughn, who led the Bearcats with 20 points. “We’re letting everybody know that we’re coming out to play hard. We’ve just got to keep playing like this the rest of the season.”
Fan Comment: Go Cats. Hopefully Georgetown can right the ship and this will remain a quality win. Next stop: Philadelphia!
“We gave up zero back-door layups for the game,” Cronin said. “They probably make two back-door cuts per possession, which gives them over 100 back-door cuts for the game and our guys gave up none. It was a tremendous job by our players as far as preparation, focus, taking away something that Georgetown really uses as a major weapon in their offense.”
