Fining out who is good (Widmore or men) aint going to be coming any time soon, i would guess. That sound like something we wouldn't find out until there are only five or so episodes left. It is easy to make a case that both are playing the Survivors, but we have just been hanging out with Ben more so we have seen his evil ways up close.
Additionally, i feel like a moron for not remembering any of that stuff that i asked about earlier. sigh

I think the people who failed to disappear were the people who represented the dead.
Locke = Christian - thus he appeared "reborn" on the island Ben = Charlie - he went to the bathroom just before crash a la Charlie
This doesn't explain Sun, however.
Ben is bad, but I think he needed Locke to die. Once he had extracted the key pieces of information he needed from a living Locke, he realized it was better to kill Locke and do the prep work himself - perhaps, though not necessarily, knowing Locke would resurrect on the island. Also, they needed a body and I think it positions Locke to join the host of more spectral beings on the island, ie Christian, Richard, Claire.
However, Ben's comment "who cares?" now seems doubly ironic considering he's lumped in with "the rest of the passengers."

Does anyone really think that Ben didn't know exactly what would happen with Locke if and when he got back to the island? That Locke would either come back to real life, or come back, like Christian, in some sort of eternal/immortal life.
Plus, Ben knew that Richard told Locke that he had to die.
Once again, this is Ben Linus we are talking about. There is no action he takes for which he cannot come up with a rationalization.
What's more, if these episodes pan out so that Ben and Locke have a confrontation about this, I guarantee that Ben can convince Locke that what he did was the right thing.
Now, personally, why I think Ben killed Locke? Ben does not want to let go of his role as the leader on the island. He gets what he needs from Locke so that he can take steps to resume that role. He may talk about how important Locke is (and do it oh so convincingly), but really, he wants to be that important person, no matter what Jacob says.
Finally, a quick note about whoever does the promos for this show...... Do you even know your audience? OK, maybe the Washington Post girls and a few others are on the edge of their seats for a Sawyer-Kate reunion, but trust me, for most of your viewers, that is not "the moment we've all been waiting for."

So we find out that Ben is a murderer. Oh, we already knew that. When Locke mentioned Hawking's name, Ben went ballistic. Did Ben realize that Locke really had the power and had to be killed? It is curious that both Ben and Widmore both wanted the Losties to get back on the island. Both Ben and Widmore both seem evil, but Widmore showed his "soft" side last night; was he doing a Ben impersonation and lying. On the replay of last week's episode, I found that I had missed a whole section - the one that explained the shoes. I must have fallen asleep watching it for a while. How could I have fallen asleep watching Lost? Maybe I had time travelled a bit?

Maybe the person who went off with Lapidus is just a flight attendant and not really important.

I think the real question that no one is asking is "Where the Eff are Rose and Bernard???"
Like really those people are either supper resourceful, dead, or ghosts (or my own theory is that they ARE the smoke monster and just like to mess with people). The producers must owe these two something because they should have been gonzo years ago, maybe they have dirty picture on producers or something so they have to keep being written into the scrips.
This also applies to Vincent (all of it, even the dirty pictures part)

So thoughts and questions:
1) I'm still of the belief that it was sun who went off with lapidus. It jsut doesn't make sense to be anyone else. It would make sense that they would've all flashed to the past, but i guess not. I mean why would locke not have gone with them?
**pseudoSPOILER** **Also a sun jin reunion isn't supposed to happen soon, so i assume they're not in the same time**
2) They definitely landed on the hydra island. (good call predicting this RB)
3) I really hope Locke is legit alive.
4) This Episode would've benn a million times cooler if last weeks preview hadn't ruined it.
5)Really confused about the whole timing of the ben widmore conflict. So Widmore is the leader of the others when Ben tricks him into turning the wheel. It would seem then that this doesn't happen until after the purge. ( It's possible it could've happened before, but it doesn't seem likely since ben was a kid for a while and would've had to spend the majority of his time with the dharma peeps) And if it happened after the purge how did Widmore have time to amass all his wealth and reputation.
6) It's so hard to tell who's going to end up good: ben or widmore. It's so confusing. At times they both have seemed good. And at time they both have seemed evil.

Was Locke's car accident in any past episode? My roommate is convinced that we saw it in a past episode, maybe w/ a different character's flash-forward. But I can't remember. Maybe reminded him of '24' from monday night?

Ok going back and looking at the off island time line we've seen in the past and this recent jeremey bentham episode.
It's just disconcerting that there must be a month between the scene where locke gets into the car crash and sees jack and the scene where locke attempts suicide, and we're given no indication that much time has passed. It has to be a month since in the end of season 4 jack says that locke visited a month ago and he's all beared out and depressed, while when locke first sees jack he's shaven and not completely off his rocker yet. Then another discontinuity. When jack sees ben in the funeral parlour he asks if He(locke) had told jack that ben was off the island. Jack says yes but when locke first sees ben he gets killed by him?
Also why does walt tell hurley that jeremy bentham came to visit him when locke never told him of that alias.
And is anyone ever going to tell this poor kid his dad's dead.
One more unrelated one. Danielle got to the island in 88 dharma's aroudn till 92. How did she never run into them? She says she's never seen anyone else on the island. She's heard the whispers and says it's the others but has never actually seen anyone?

She's heard the whispers and says it's the others but has never actually seen anyone? It might be possible that they crashed on a part of the island that is far away from the Dharma or that they never need to go to. So by the time she get situated in her hideout if they go around near her she is hidden and so much so that she doesnt notice them. It is unlikely that she would never run into them but it is possible especially if she is trying to remain hidden. (but im sure dharma heard her radio message). I think it will be too messy and difficult to flesh out all these inconsistencies.

I swear I just about lost it when the statue showed up. I saw it coming too, when they were staring up for a moment there, I was all "OMG THIS IS IT!!!!!!!!" And then as soon as it came, it was gone But at least we got a look. PLEASE GOD FILL IN THAT BACKSTORY. Pretty much the most important thing in my life right now. Makes perfect sense that they saw it up there, as Sayid saw the four-toed foot when he and the Koreans were sailing to the northern part of the island to sneak attack the others... the northern part of the island also being where the Orchid is. Other stuff that's surely discussion worthy but the statue is easily the most important to me. Off to hunt for screen caps.

END-OF-SHOW: Easily the best episode of the season. The show's really hit its stride these past three episodes or so... why the F do we need to wait two weeks for a new episode? Because they know that i will be on spring break and will be to busy to watch. That is really nice of them ;D (werent we supposed to get no breaks this year? wasnt that why we waited until january?) Great episode though really good, loved sawyer telling Richard what is up.

Statue screen cap: getlostpodcast.iimmgg.com/image/5ec86b30a63635da25c16b67748e0694Without having perused the LOST blogs/message boards to confirm... it looks to me like the things that the statue is holding in each hand are the same "cross with a looped top" that Goodspeed's wife's first husband Paul was wearing around his neck. NICE.

That statue is totally Anubis the egyptian God! You can see it has pointed ears and Anubis has the head of a jackal. and those are totally Ankh's in his hands. Richard's crazy eyes totally make sense now lol.
This show keeps getting better and better. This is the best season by far. Each episode out does itself.

Richard's crazy eyes totally make sense now lol. And a Jackal has only 4 toes, I assume? or at least is represented that way? Really feeling it. Googled it and there are pictures of anubis holding the ankh, so it looks like we have a winner. But still.... who built the statue? how did they make something so enormous? whered they get the stone? why'd they put it at the shore? how does the big egyptian statue tie in with the hieroglyphics on the temple, in the room where Ben summoned the smoke monster, and on the countdown clock in the Swan hatch when it reached all 0's? Why is that guy Paul rocking the Ankh? Soooo much to be filled in.
