By the way, this might have been discussed already, but Thompson looks just about the same height as Vaughn in huddles and that is with Vaughn in sneakers and Hollis in dress shoes... I know heights on programs tend to be inflated but he could be the third tallest player on the team right now... 6'8" maybe?

certainly looked that tall alongside Greg during one the huddles during the Pitt game. Love the extra time in the weight room. That extra semester of maturity (physical and mental) is going to give us so many options next year.

With the exception of Markel, GU will have a very tall and long line up for years to come.

We got some good smiles and laughs out of hollis with a couple chants and a sign welcoming him to the hilltop.

Hollis is almost 6'8 right now--weighs 205 and should be 215-220 by start of next season. So he's basically the same size as Dajuan when he was a freshman? Sweeeeeeeet.

I actually thought he was shorter than Nikita, so definitely less than 6-foot-8, but I could be mistaken. Either way, he looks MUCH more slender than DaJuan. But that certainly can change.

But that certainly can change. i wasnt near the bench so i couldnt see well, but in general i would have to think wearing a dress shirt would make look slimmer. i have seen him a couple times and would be surprised if he was as big as dajuan, but very pumped.

Hollis is listed as 6'6", but watching the Cuse game I noticed that standing beside Summers and Nikita who both are listed as 6'8", Hollis was the same size.

What do the gurus think about hollis next year. Will he be more of an impact frosh like freeman was or monroe is this year, or is going to need more seasoning like a Simmsthis year?? Any thoughts?

I think that a big reason he's on campus already is so that he'll be prepared to contribute immediately next season. I think a Freeman-like freshman impact is a more reasonable expectation than a Monroe/Green type one.

It will be hard to estimate his minutes and stuff because there are a number of variables, but because he is on campus and is practicing with the team he should be very comfortable with the offense and probably more conditioned because he doesnt have to worry about playing games (leading to more time for lifting and stuff).

IMO, after experiencing the rigors of BE play, Hollis & Co. will work their butts off to be in the best possible shape.

IMO, after experiencing the rigors of BE play, Hollis & Co. will work their butts off to be in the best possible shape. I hope you are right PR. If these guys are as good as we think they are, and as THEY think they are, they are going to have to work really hard this off season. That is one way that Tyler contributed...as a workout warrior who kept the rest of the team motivated. Pat Jr. too, and Roy became quite the workout maven too. ALL our guys need major off season training... working out, weight and resistance training, nutrition, you name it. If they are embarrassed by their performance this season, they will come back much stronger in November -- that is 8 months from now. Plenty of time to make a big difference. And fundamentals. They've got to work on those. Intensity. And being alert on the court at ALL times. I hope they can scrimmage some of the NBA alumni. Let those cats really take it to them. Because this team... as presently constituted, only losing Sapp and gaining Hollis... can be a GREAT team next year!

Especially if Hollis really is 6'8 and can contribute as a key member of next year's rotation.

Thing is,
This team needs a bonafide small forward. DaJuan's a tweener, Nikita's not bonafide and Austin's a two. So there is a spot for Hollis to step in if he's good enough. If he is, it shores up what was a major problem spot for us this season.

But, if Hollis can fill in as a 2/3 supersub, and take over the starter's role the following year... we'd all be happy. If he is the 3 next year, then DaJuan is still the 4...and we really need a 4 who wants to be a 4 and plays like a 4.

Sounds promising. RDF, how are these two players on defense and boards? Do they mix it up inside?

williams right now is a defensive and board monster...his offensive game is steadily improving....I'll be extremely excited if we land him....the missing piece IMHO
