In terms of Lubick's explosiveness, I saw him play against my high school last year, and the craziest moment was when my friend on my highschool's team was trailing lubick on a breakaway, and tried to foul him hard enough to stop him from dunking/laying it in.... only Lubick moved the ball at the last second so that my friend got all ball on a swipe that was intended to hack him. And Lubick followed through and dunked anyways- the referees ended up calling what my friend did a flagrant foul (which it wasn't, but nevermind). It was still explosive as anything I've seen on a high school court. Yeah I'd say that was pretty explosive.
That being said, I don't think hes going to turn into Dwight Howard in the post, but the kid has got ups.

Hoyamel -- how do you feel about a Dante Cunningham comparison? From what I've read and the limited videos I've seen, it seems like this might be a good comparison. And if he has the same dunk-over-everything mentality as Joe Alexander... I'm excited.

Yes... and I'm not entirely sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing, but I've heard from friends of mine at St. Marks that Lubick is, euphemistically, a "tough guy." I don't want to slander the kid, since I don't actually know him, but well, JTII said we needed thugs... and even if Lubick isn't a thug, he certainly plays with a mean streak and regardless of his other qualities, I can virtually guarantee you that he won't be soft.

There is absolutely no question that the description "tough guy" is a serious positive when it comes to a Hoya recruit. We desperately need some TOUGH guys on this team! BTW, when JT2 used the term "thugs", he didn't mean REAL thugs. Just the kind of "chip on the shoulder" tough guys who don't take any S___ on the court. GU absolutely needs those kinds of kids on the team to pair up with our finesse guys. Like Boubacar Aw was the oncourt bodyguard for Iverson. Or the famous Michael Graham for Patrick. etc. Thanks again for the info.

"Tough guy" is great for the program. We're talking about a player who wants to win and will do the cleaning of the boards, will defend tough, will not back down from a challenge and give 100% effort every second on the floor. We badly needed one this year.

Freemoney- not a bad comparison. Cunningham is better laterally and Nate is probably a better passer. Similar rebounder and shooter. Cunningham really improved over his time at Nova and was a great college player. I cna see why people compare him to Alexander, they definitely have similar games. Obviously Alexander is much better.
bosox - please stop with the friend of a friend told me a story. Nate and the word Thug don't belong in the same sentence. Don't spread internet rumors when you don't really know anything.

Cunningham developed an absolutely devastating midrange game to go with a ridiculous amount of offensive rebounds. Great player as a senior. I can only hope Nate can duplicate his production.
Bosox - I realize your intent was to share information, which is nice, but honestly, third or fourth hand rumors that are negative about people... it's a slippery slope. There's simply no way for you to know if its true, much less the rest of us, and this is a person's reputation we're talking about.

Fair enough, I understand, thats my bad. I thought making it obviously that it wasn't a first hand-account might make it okay, but apparently not. Thats fine. As for you hoyamel, you know nothing about my credibility so it would be great if you could get down of that high horse for a second. I never said I thought he was a thug, just a tough kid on and off the court. And the story/facts I was relating were actually second hand, from a friend at St. Marks that I happen to trust.

Bosoxx fan not to get on you at all ,but i find St Marks and Tough Guy somewhat oxymoronic. Frankly i'm more concerned about anyone who plays four years in the old PSL being tough at all. Do they still do all the Milk and Cookies after the "matches"?

Bosox - I can question your credibilty when you bring rumors to a board you have heard second hand. Chances are I know your friend, and I am guessing they don't run in Nate's circle or hope they can be friends with Nate. Unlike you I am bringing basketball information to the table. I will be on my horse all I want. Add some value

From what I understand St. Marks plays a reasonable amount of games out of the ISL- thats where they pick up a few losses every year. The ISL has a few good players; theres a few ISL kids in D-I hoops right now (granted one at Penn and the other I know of at URI- plus Ricky Davis' brother was/is at Lawrence). So I think thats where they get their competition. And I think the milk and cookies thing is just Belmont Hill (sorry for those of you who don't get the reference).
And hoyamel, if you do "run in Nate's circle" I'm hardly be surprised that you would be defending him. I'm clearly not going to give you his name, for obvious reasons. I had basketball insight earlier, but beyond that I'm not going to pretend to be an expert on his game. Whatever else I've heard, I've heard that he is a tough kid and I'm happy about that. Anyone who watched this team this year knows we need that.

hoyamel and bosoxfan3: enough - take it offline.
To be clear, it is unfair to bring second- and third-hand "information" about a committed recruit or current player here and post it - regardless of how well you may know the person whose information/opinion you are relaying. There is no independent way to verify it and this is not the forum to post it.

Nate really got the better of Hairston in back to back weekends. Nate has really improved. Nate is Big East strong already, and the team could have really used a player like him this past season. Can't wait to have him in the program. Glad to hear that RDF. Maybe we got lucky twice -- Nate and Markel turn out to be better than Josh and Tyler? Regardless, both kids sound like great future Hoyas!
