ross is a heck of a player..good for college park if they picked him up..assuming they are going head to head with St Johns on Lance Stephenson now that the Henry bros have gone to Kansas

I heard Lance cut MD off of his list! also rumor has it that Josh Selby is rethinking his committment to Tennessee. Dont want to take that risk plus I love Markels game anyway.

scout updated their 2010 rankings. i will just list the GTOWN recruits and our key targets.
will barton #10 (rising) roscoe smith #17 (dropped like 9 spots) jelan kendrick #30 (up like 4-5 spots i think) terrance jones #43 (pretty much stayed same) nate lubick #58 (stayed same...but i know scout staff has not seen him once this spring) markel starks #66 (droped like 10 spots -- prob mainly he has been injured)

I have only seen Thornton but from what I have heard Markel is better than him. I don't like Thorton, he doesn't do one thing at a high major level.

starks is exactly the type of player JTIII and his offense need. Whether he is ranked 5th or 75th doesnt make a difference to me.

We are targeting two wings in 2010 right? When are we going to target a couple of big guys? Chances are Monroe has only one more year. nate and markel are terrific, glad they are coming. But there's no one to play the 5. I mean really PLAY the 5, not fill in for a couple minutes in a pinch.
Sims? Vaughan? Maybe. But we need to get after some of Lic's favorites... real 7 footers. That's what GU is known for. Let's go gettem!

That's what GU is known for. Let's go gettem! I'm not totally convinced that we'll get two wings in 2010. I know some have said that, but we'll see what happens. I think we'll get 1 because there are some good ones interested. But if we take 2 we'll definitely be heavy on wing players and we'll only have 3 guys that can play up front including 1 freshman. Now a 3 man rotation isn't horrible, and it looks like Nate will be ready to contribute as a freshman. But still, I'd like to see us at least looking for some other big guys. Unfortunately there aren't a ton of good ones, but I'd be ok with taking somebody who might be a year or two away but who has a higher ceiling. I wonder if we'll recruit this guy, Dikembe's nephew: scouthoops.scout.com/a.z?s=75&p=8&c=1&nid=3530039Rivals has him as the 8th best center in the class and a Top 150 player. I believe he is now going to school in NJ. At one point he said that Georgetown "was" his dream school, but that he now doesn't have any (possibly because we didn't recruit him at all)... That comes from here: blog.northstarbball.com/2008/09/21/fall-jam-fest-day-two-overview-september-21-2008.aspx I was also interested if we'd go after Jordan Latham from Baltimore who is not really a center at 6'8 or 6'9, more of a power forward, but he's a great rebounder and shotblocker. Would have to develop his face up game a lot to play here but if he was willing to do that it could work out well for all. He was going to Xavier but decommitted when Miller went to Zona. Haven't heard that we're involved since he opened back up though. He's a Top 50 player on Rivals rivalshoops.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?Sport=2&pr_key=84978

don't think GTOWN is too impressed with the center candidates from 2010. do not think they are too high on Latham.

Do the Hoyas seem likely to land any new 2010 commits soon?

Per NBE: Waverly Austin 10' will be visiting GU soon. He is about 6'9 and pretty athletic. He is not really an elite talent, but more of a role playing glue guy. He played AAU for the DC Blue Devils with Markel Starks last year. He was originally a 2009 kid, but has reclassified to 2010. He has gotten better and is playing AAU ball for the brandon Bass Elite this summer(same team as Latavius). He is visiting Gtown this weekend so hopefully he gets to play pick-up with the guys and everyone can gage his development. He will certainly be monitored over the summer.
