Tyler Thornton, 6ppg? I'm all for being unselfish, but that's about what I averaged in H.S. (although I assume in a lesser league). Balla, what makes this kid such a good recruit? And why doesn't he score more - deferring to veteran teammates, or just unassertive?

Tyler Thornton is more than capable of scoring when needed, but his impressiveness comes from his ability to continually make GREAT decisions with the basketball (as a HS sophomore, no less). Furthermore, he is a terrific defender with decent height. He does not force passes, nor does he force shots.
He simply plays sounds, sane basketball.

Tyler is also playing at Gonzaga, the #1 team in the city. I believe there are 3 other D1 players in the starting lineup, all upperclassmen. The team succeeds by playing lock-down defense and spreading the scoring around in such a way that no one's numbers are gaudy.
Does this sound familiar?

6'8" 15 year old Sophomore in High School. Not bad. But who's writing these articles? "The 6-foot-8 Hairston made a jumper from the corner of the free throw line." It's called the elbow, you..!... stupid!
And IMO, it would seem Thornton is mature if anything, which is quite impressive. What people need to take notice of, ahem, is that someone averaging 6 points a game as a sophomore who is getting noticed this much obviously must have something going for them...

I love how the first clip of him is him shooting a shoot from the elbow...hopefully we will be able to do that more in the coming years to break the zone

Courtland does not play against great competition, so it would be nice if Hairston played closer DC. Implying anything? Would make some sense.

why might he be held out of the aau circuit? how much of an impact can this young man have at the camps ( or is it still to early to say )?

why might he be held out of the aau circuit? how much of an impact can this young man have at the camps ( or is it still to early to say )? Not 'held out'. What I mean is NIke has elite camps. THen there is the AAU circuit. Normally Nike and Adidas have different AAU circuits, so I do not know if he will be playing for BOO(Nike) or DC Assault(adidas). The camps do not really teach much anymore. Now it is more like the best players just get a chance to play against each other. That is why I mentioned what Josh needs to work on during his none AAU/camp time, because players are made on their own time.

I'm sure he'll be at top 100, Lebron and Peach Jam. Hopefully, Mem Day Classic too. Maybe Super Showcase in Orlando. Just wanted to catch him a couple of times this summer.

I'll see them at least twice then cause I cover both the Memorial Day Classic and Nike Peach Jam for i95ballerz.com. They play on their 16's right?

kid is a baller, but so is: Hairston Roscoe Mckie Jason Morris The 4 local PGs(Thornton, Atkins, Shelby, Starks)
Gtown will take at least 4 players in 2010, so there are some great options. Regardless Gtown will have another top 5 class in 2010.
