No surprise here .. This morning's Syracuse newspaper reports Brandon Triche committed to Orange over the past weekend. tinyurl.com/6dawaai've seen brandon play a bunch of times and he's a very good player and an even better kid. as good as he is on the HS level, he never puts himself above his team, which is loaded with talented players. i don't see him being a star at the college level, but more like a solid sapp type player....

I know this sounds utterly naive, but when you hear things like that, it really makes you think hard about whether to invest so much time following a sport like this. Don't get me wrong, I love our team, but seeing the very seamy underbelly of college basketball kind of makes my stomach turn. At least with the pros, the business stuff is transparent. This backroom dealing and pimping of HS kids just does not sit right with me. But I guess ignorance is bliss... Yep. Welcome to big time college sports.

Hunter played a part in DR recruitment although ultimately it was his love for GU and the big man tradition.

The rumor I've heard is that it has to do with the agent selection of our recent draftees. I don't see a need to keep it in PMs. The DCA people were shocked that David Falk represents Georgetown players? And as an aside, wasn't Vaughn's relationship with coach Cox considered a big reason why he decided to transfer in?

A lot of you guys get too worked up over reasons why recruits come and do not come. To be honest, people here on this board pay a lot more attention to wins/losses and different players being recruited then the actual players/recruits do. You would be surprized how little players on the team pay attention to other programs, players.
Jason Clark for instance, came to Georgetown because it was VERY close to home. It is about 15 minutes from his Mom's place. That is the reason nothing more, nothing less. Sure he probably liked JTIII, but the main factor was it was close to home and his Mom and Grandmother can come to all his home games.

But there are a bunch of schools close by at which mom and grams could watch him play. I am not suggesting it wasn't a factor, but to suggest that playing at a highly competitive emerging national power with some of his DC area friends, a great coach and better guy like JT3 and a first rate education weren't major factors? I think there was a lot more to it than an easy drive for the family. ANd even if it were, it would be the extremely rare exception for top recruits.

We may have missed on Hairston and Thornton, but it hasn't stopped the steady stream of top recruits visiting. Midnight Madness is 4 weeks away!

hoopgroup.com/hoopgroup/blogs/2008/09/21/fall-jam-fest-day-one-overview-september-20-2008/Myles Davis ‘11, St. Peter’s Prep (NJ) Playaz (NJ): Kansas, Villanova, Syracuse, Rutgers, Seton Hall, and Marist Favorites: “Kansas [and] Villanova, and I’m starting to like Rutgers a lot too.” Dream School: Georgetown Note- Davis said the following to explain his transfer from St. Benedict’s (NJ) to St. Peter’s: “I wanted to start over academically, . . . and plus, [with] basketball, . . . I wanted to show everybody I can play.” Cameron Ayers ‘10, Germantown Academy (PA), Playaz Red (NJ): Georgetown, Michigan, Georgia Tech, Notre Dame, Richmond, La Salle, St. Joseph’s, and Temple Favorites: “I like Georgetown [and] Michigan so far. That’s really it.” Dream School: None Note- Ayers is out of action this weekend because he “had a sports hernia-type injury,” but said that he has been “doing a lot of rehab [and] . . . should be back in two to three weeks.” Ayers added that he will “be ready ready for the [high school] season.” Nate Lubick ’10, St. Mark’s School (MA), New England Playaz: Georgetown, Michigan, Virginia, Stanford, Wake Forest, Notre Dame, and Georgia Tech Favorites: n/a Note- Lubick said that Georgetown, Michigan Virginia, Stanford, and Wake Forest “are just the ones that are really coming on [him] the hardest.” Nadir Tharpe ’11, Brewster Academy (NH), New England Playaz: Xavier, Georgetown, Providence, Marquette, Boston College, and UMass Favorites: Xavier, Georgetown, and Providence

What are these guy's positions? Also, with Myles...are we not recruiting him or are we only a dream school never to be pursued ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png)

Ayers is a top 50 player (6'3 guard) that can ball .. I'd love to see us stay involved there .. Lubick would be a great get ... as would Tharpe ... but the most important player to me is Roscoe ..... I really hope we stay in the mix for him ... he's gonna be a star impact player ... I'm going to make some calls to see what they say about Davis ... it strikes me funny because transferring from St. Benedict’s (NJ) to St. Peter’s: “I wanted to start over academically, . . . and plus, [with] basketball, . . . I wanted to show everybody I can play.” makes me feel as if he's down grading the talent he's gonna play against ... but if the reason is for what he stated "Academics" then its understandable ... I'll stay on top of the situation and find out more about him though.

Re: Davis -- Yeah, krukster, by playing for SPP as opposed to St. Benedict's, he'll definitely be playing a lower level of comp. Academics are top-notch though and the Jesuit connection would definitely help if the Hoyas wanted him. Any idea how good he is?

I'm going to call my people at St. Anthony's to see what they say about him .. he plays AAU ball for the Playerz I believe it says above ... so it shouldn't be a problem and If he's good my boy would know of him ... His list isn't to shabby .. but it could be that he's listing schools that he's interested in - it might not go both ways .. we'll see .. I'll ask around.
