UPDATED: Sunday 8:30 - my service is done until next March.
1. Gtown 14-4 2. Louis 14-4 3. ND 13-4 4. Uconn 12-5
5. WV 11-7 6. Marq 11-7 7. Pitt 10-8 8. Nova 9-9 9. Cuse 9-9 10. Cincy 8-10 11. SH 7-11 12. Prov 6-12
13. Dep 6-12 - OUT 14. St. J 5-13 - OUT 15. USF 3-15 - OUT 16. Rut 2-15 (@ SH) - OUT
TIEBREAKERS 2-Team 1. Head-to-Head 2. Record against highest-ranked team in conference – (remember, given the Big East’s weird schedule, there are weird rules for “uneven games” when one team has played a team twice and the other hasn’t)
3-Team 1. “Mini-conference” among the teams (Best winning percentage wins, even if uneven number of games) 2. Compare records against top teams as above (again, concern with uneven games)
TOURNAMENT MATCHUPS 1 (Gtown) Vs. 8 (Nova) 9 (Cuse)
4 (Uconn) Vs. 5 (WV) 12 (Prov)
2 (Louisville) Vs. 7 (Pitt) 10 (Cincy)
3 (ND) Vs. 6 (Marq) 11(SH)
Out: (Rutgers, USF, St. John's, Depaul)

- If both UCONN and ND win out, UCONN will get the #1 seed based on their win over Louisville (UCONN will be #4)
Huh? If UConn wins out and we beat Louisville, wouldn't UConn then become the #2 seed at the BET? I'm probably missing something...

BTW, ventured over to the UConn boards to see if they had tiebreaking threads up, and was sidetracked by how myopic that fanbase is at the moment. Admittedly, they've had a nice comeback season, but these people seem to think it's still 1999. They have no respect for the Hoyas - apparently we're "not overly talented" and "don't do anything very well." Guess they've never seen us play defense. Anyway, they're all dying to be in our half of the bracket in the BET, since they'd all rather play us than Louisville. There is nothing worse than the UConn fanbase - completely clueless and classless. I hope we get them in the BET and show them (again) that we have returned to dominance in this conference. Punks.

If Georgetown beats Louisville and UConn wins out, then Louisville would be the 3 seed. The only way Louisville can be the 2 seed is if UConn were somehow to lose one this week.

Yet another reason we need to win the no. 1 seed. Do so and you can book us for Saturday night's championship game in my view (the exception being if we get Syracuse right away in Game 1--then all bets are off). There is no way ND or Marquette beats us on the neutral floor in that semifinal game. I'm not saying it wouldn't be close, but I'd like our chances.

I'd like to see SJU at their home court, but that may just be me.

The only way Louisville can be the 2 seed is if UConn were somehow to lose one this week. Don't discount the fact that UConn has virtually nothing to play for in their last two games. They are virtually assured a top 4 seed, and there is no way they can move up to #1. If I know this team and coach -- and I do -- this week is rife with potential for misbehavin' in Storrs! ND doesn't have anything to play for either, really, but I can't see them losing to either USF or SJU. Providence and Cincinnati are another story altogether.

I could see USF knocking off an undermotivated ND team this weekend. Harngotty (sp) will struggle with Gransberry, ND plays NO defense (they belong in the ACC) and USF has been a tough out at home.

News flash to Boz and dTrain: there is another small tournament that takes place after the BET. Losses to crappy teams in the last week of the regular season are real bad. I don't think any team worried about NCAA seeding or a spot in the field is going to have an issue with motivation the next week and a half.

If Cincinnati beats Depaul tonight, they lock up at least the #8 seed. Even if they lose to Uconn to finish the season, they'd be 9-9.
The best Nova and Cuse can do is 9-9.
Cincy will win the 3-way tiebreaker (or a 2-way tiebreaker over either of the other 2 teams) because Cincy beat them both.
It would then revert to a tiebreak between Cuse and Nova - Cuse would appear to have the advantage based on their win against Georgetown but that wouldn't matter because of the "uneven games" rule (Cuse played us twice, Nova only once). So you'd look at either ND or Uconn (whoever finishes higher). Both teams lost to ND, so that would be irrelevant. Nova beat Uconn, Cuse lost to them. So Nova would be second (likely the 9 seed) and Cuse last (10 seed).
Even if Pitt lost to Depaul to finish the season (creating a 4-way tie at 9-9), you'd have: 7. Cincy 3-1 8. Pitt 3-2 9. Nova 2-3 10. Cuse 1-3
The bottom line for the Hoyas is that the matchups are squaring up to be: 7-10: Pitt-Cuse 8-9: Cincy-Nova
In other words, it's probably better to be the #1 seed (2 teams we beat playing in the 8-9 game) than the #2 seed (2 teams who beat us, albeit on their home courts).

Sheesh! ;D Looks like we could use some of the same de-focusing for Louisville players, given the fact that UConn just got swept by the Friars! The Cardinals are now assured of the 2 seed, at worst. Wouldn't they rather play the Irish, who are the likely 3 seed, than the Huskies?

Now that Cincy has lost to DePaul (and is likely to lose to UConn), it looks like the 8-9 matchup will likely be Villanova-Syracuse. Wouldn't mind the opportunity for revenge on the Orange by putting them out of their NCAA-bubble misery (and squarely in the NIT). Of course, I also wouldn't mind a more decisive victory over the Wildcats, and I'd actually LIKE to see them make the Big Dance by winning at Providence and taking out the Orange in the first round. Given the huge number of bubble teams, though, I'm not sure that would qualify them.
Of course, if Syracuse loses to Marquette, then they would lose the tiebreaker to the Bearcats (even in a 3-way tie with the Hall) and wind up the 10 seed, no?

they're stronger than the 12th best team in any other league. Providence isn't that bad, they're just purely a jump shooting team, they can be dangerosu if they're on like they were tonight.

And UConn continues to play the best basketball in the Big East.
What a joke.
