Perhaps I shouldn't say this, not being in Chicago, but who the heck has been arrogant? No one on this board. The Sox have way too shabby a history of screw-ups for anyone to take anything for granted. Anyway, even if the Sox blow it altogether, it will still only be the second worst collapse in baseball history. Nothing can touch the '64 Phillies. The Sox would squeeze in front of the '69 Cubs for second. Plus, we'll always have Bartman!

Then you're right, hoyarooter, you haven't been in Chicago this summer. Thankfully Sox fans here haven't been nearly as insufferable for the past few weeks - a nice respite from the days around the All-Star break.
Also, which Sox fans out there still think the Pale Hose wouldnt have benefitted from an upgrade in CF (as Hawk suggested while the Griffey/Sox rumors were circulating at the end of August)? Everyone knew Rowand cant hit, but apparently he's forgotten how to judge a line drive now, too.

a summer of unbelieveable arrogance Hey, save accusations like this for the AL East. Sox could clinch it this afternoon, or they could prolong the agony and their bid for MLB immortality/infamy as 'rooter pointed out. Since I'm between jobs right now, it will make for a very riveting afternoon. GO! WHITE! SOX!

Sox clinch! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
And all I can say is, whew!
I have absolutely no idea how they will fare in the playoffs. Their starting pitching is good enough to carry them, but I fear another bomb ala their last appearance.

Chicago White Sox, American League Central Champions!
Amazing win last night. Ozzie fields the Scrubs, augmented by the light hitting Crede and Podsednik. They gut out a one-run victory in 13. Cleveland crowd silenced, as well as the national media who accused the White Sox of not respecting the "integrity of the game" because they did the entirely sensible thing of playing subs after clinching.
I'm getting concerned about Bobby Jenks. It seems like every time he comes in to close, he gives up a run.
But let's enjoy it right now. White Sox are divisional champs.

Errata correction to earlier post.
Podesnik is not light hitting -- his average is one of the highest on the team. But not much power.

Good times, baby, good times! Bastin is down 0-2 in the best of 5! No worries about the curse here - better take the issue up with Graffi.

Let's not count our chickens. The Sox, red version are extremely tough at home, and have a history of responding well when they have their backs against the wall. It would be very Sox, white version like to blow a 2-0 lead.
So with that doom and gloom in mind, I'm still a happy guy. My 2 year old has been saying "Yay, White Sox" the last couple days. Grandpa in particular got a big kick out of that. Have to start 'em young these days.

Well, Former and Gold, you could be correct. I have been a Chisox fan for better than 45 years now, and it's brought me a lot more pain than pleasure. I have the solace of knowing that if my little girl takes after her mommy, she will not have the slightest interest in baseball.
So we may have to stick with the Lakers.
And the Hoyas. ;D

Hey, as a ChiSox fan, I'm pumped about not getting swept. The second win at home during a playoff series is just icing on the cake. I'm amped about baby steps here, not eyeing the possibility of a sweep.

Classic. Hopefully we can keep it up against the Angels or the loathesome ones.

White Sox winner! I was at Sox Park Wednesday night for the 5-4 win -- an incredible game. When the Gooch hit the 3 run homer, the place was literally shaking. This game may have been better. The bells at Nativity of Our Lord (37th and Lowe) are ringing.
GO YOU WHITE SOX!
By the way Rooter, my three year olds shout "Go White Sox" all the time and I think my wife and I are damn good parents.

Congrats from a BoSox fan here. My head hurts, my feet stink, and I don't love Jesus this morning, but the better team won. Go get 'em.
