I don't want to break any agreements with the other site, but there is some really good news over there for those of you interested in recruiting and players from NYC...

So two guards and two wings for next year. If Fofana came through and gave us some front line power, we just might be kind of nasty.

If it is true, I guess it is good news, but I don't know why this team needs another 2, and I don't know how this leaves enough room for Fofana or another big. The needs at 1, 4, and 5 seen much more clear going into the future.

I hope this alleviates some of your concerns.

Do you think the win against Pitt had anything to do with his decision. Oh yeah, thanks for the, eh, hint JerseyHoya.

If he can be a point that helps a lot. This seems an indication that DJ is not coming back, which is too bad but may be the right decision for everyone.

It also seems to be an indication that our backcourt is rather depleted right now. No wonder JTIII only played 6 guys last night and Reed one minute.

A couple of scenarios to ponder on the scholarship situation...
1) Wallace stays on the current track, so he doesn't receive a basketball scholarship for next season. This opening would be enough to take on Sapp without any other changes in the roster. 2) Wallace is offered a scholarship, but DJ is not offered another season, so Sapp replaces DJ. 3) Owens stays and Wallace is offered a scholarship, so Sapp replaces an as yet to be determined end of the season transfer.

I had contemplated all of those scenarios Jersey, and I don't see any way Wallace does not get a 'ship, so I think it is DJ gone and someone else has to leave to make room for a big man. I was hoping that this program would stabilize a bit on the transfer front, so I am rooting against that possibility.

Sapp is the real deal by all accounts.
Next year's potential:
PG Wallace (So) -- W Sapp (Fr)
SG ?? Owens ??(5th) Cook (Sr) Beal (Sr) -- W Reed (Jr) Crawford (So) Thornton (Fr) Egerson (Fr)
SF Bowman (Sr) ?? Koundjia ?? (Jr) Spann (Fr)
PF Dizdarevic (Jr) Izzo (Jr) -- W Green (So) Guibunda (So)
C Kilkenny-Diaw (Sr) -- W ?? Fofana ?? (Jr) Hibbert (So)
Only one of the ?? can get a scholly...assuming Wallace is still a walkon next year...big IF there.
*Note: list includes two transfers who are supposedly interested in the Hoyas.

First off, this is such exciting news, I really have so much respect for JT111 and what the new staff is doing with the team. If things continue this way maybe we will get an announcement tonight that someone donated 50 million to a new stadium, but I will take what weve got for now. My question now is this: First off, what is the deal with Fofana? I think this guy would be a huge addition to the team and would really seal next years squad and make us really competitive. Also, what happened to Johnson, I thought we were looking hard at him as well. I like owens, but I wouldnt be that upset if this is it for him, if we have some really good guys coming in next year. Also, is there any way for a team to retract a schollie, i.e. Killkenny-Diaw or Sead or Izzo for that matter. I mean if we can get some top guys its too bad they would be taking up bench space. Anyway, I really am excited about this and hope we can add fofana to make the deal complete, I am a bit confused about how much room we have left though.

Well, given that AKD and Izzo are walk-ons, there's probably not much in terms of retractable schollies there.
In fact, I'm not sure that schools are allowed to retract schollies at all. But players may realize that they are not going to get the time they'd like in a particular system and move on to something else.

If it is true, I guess it is good news, but I don't know why this team needs another 2, and I don't know how this leaves enough room for Fofana or another big. The needs at 1, 4, and 5 seen much more clear going into the future. Jack, I was thinking about your comments because they reflect other's as well. But here we have a team that basically played 6 guys last night. And Owens is really more of a 3 than a guard. Everyone is concerned about the bench. So now we have two guards and two forwards coming to help out - so far. I think that's great! We return all five starter next year, and we have 2 guards who can shoot, and two forwards to help out. Seems to me the talent upgrade will be substantial and we will be able to develop a bench. That, in turn, will give JT3 lots more options -- a pressing defense that requires more frequent substitutions, and protection against foul trouble allowing for more agressive man to man defense as well, for a couple of examples. As for the 1 v. 2, both guards are said to be combos. OK, if you are like me, "combo" means a 2 who isn't tall enough to be a 2 in the pros, and who might like to play some 1 but really isn't one. It is clear you are right that we still need some big men. They may be coming too. Finally, a question for the board. I keep reading this stuff about DJ getting another year. Has anyone ever heard an official --or even unofficial -- statement about this? Or is this just pure guess work. i don't see any reason why this is a likely scenario.

ONe more comment about available schollies.
Given the extrememly limited PT for all but 6 of our guys, would it suprise anyone if one or two players opt to go elsewhere next year?
In short, I don't think we need to worry about having enough schollies. We need to worry about having enough high quality recruits to make commitments. And FOFANA, if he comes, is likely not eligible next season. That is, we know he won't be eligible in the fall and he probably won't be eligible come January either.
