I'm pretty sure Jim Boeheim likes ballroom dancing.
Me? I'm with Hansel - "Pop 'n' Lock, Fool!!"
Now there's a halftime show. That's what I'm talkin' about!
(just trying to make sure this remains the longest thread on page one. . .THE DAY BEFORE WE PLAY FRIGGIN' SYRACUSE!!!!!)

Trying your best to put on a performance with a bunch of drunk a$$H*les in the audience who will then proceed to talk $H*t about you for the next few days to amuse themselves DISCLAIMER: I AM NOT TAKING SIDES IN THIS DEBATE. THIS IS MERELY AN OBJECTIVE OPINION. That's why the performance never should have happened at a basketball event. Nobody goes to games to check out the hot new ballroom dancing moves! Who cares if the cheerleaders suck, they belong at sporting events. Ditto with the pep band. Personally, the thing that angers me the most is that the entire halftime was not filled with little kids dunking on a nerf hoop, or wearing Shaq sized shoes and running around . . . . well, like little kids. And as someone who is trying to kill a Friday at work by reading this thread, let me thank the folks on both sides of this debate for some great material!

What's the halftime show for the 'Cuse game? Any guesses how many pages that discussion will last?
I'll be drinking mimosas (with sparkiling white wine) in 21 hours. I will not be wearing a turtle neck or a wig, but others are allowed to...just as longe as it is not ORANGE!!!

Dude, I am so bummed I missed this halftime show .... This has no relevance to this thread whatsoever, but when you type "embarrassing halftime shows" into google, there's like thousands of links to articles about the Stones at the Super Bowl, and one link to some girl's baton twirling webpage: "Best Twirling Memory: When I tried out in high school because I didn't think I woud make it because you have to be really really good and I thought everyone was better than me. Also my first halftime show!! They are so fun!! Most Embarrassing Moment: I would have say to my most embarassing moment was when I was in the Christmas Parade and it had rained eariler that day well I fell on my butt right in front of the judges! But we won 1st place! Also when we were doing our halftime show last year we were using hoop batons to do a trick and one of the other girls dropped mine! Favorite Twirling Activity: Halftime Shows! Because they are so fun and everyone is watching you. Future Plans: I plan to attend college where I can continue being a majorette and I don't know what I want to major in yet." www.collegemajorette.com/twirlers/stephanie.htmlNow, back to the debate!

Things that are embarrasing: 1)People who paint their face and body blue, wear stupid ass wigs and bounce up and down at games because they are starved for attention 2)People who start threads everyday about how they are the biggest fan, who then get into fights with other people going "im the biggest fan", "no i am", "hey man, I traded my first born for tickets to Hoyas USF" etc 3) The fact that we cant get people out to Hoya games consistently unless the team is doing well 4) People who have to start threads about how academically superior they are to other schools and who chant like "safety school" at games when our team is losing or to put down other fans. If you are so secure in your education, then why do you have to bring it up all the time? 5) People who actually care enough about the half time show at a hoya game to start a 6 page long thread about it. I mean, how sad is your life if you are offended by a half time show, that is probably the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. Things that are not embarrasing: Trying your best to put on a performance with a bunch of drunk a$$H*les in the audience who will then proceed to talk $H*t about you for the next few days to amuse themselves How sad is your life if a message board thread drives you into a blind fury? Just sayin'...

How about live bears "dancing" with Cuse fans? That would be great. By the way, for those who don't know (or are blind), bando aggravates people on the minor league circuit in the fall, and did a stint overseas a couple years back to hone his fundamentals. His record is 1,700 insults in one Long Island style, epithet-laced tirade. Let's hope he saves a little for the Cuse tomorrow

I am also thinking that perhaps you have the wrong audience here, no? Maybe the Fine Arts message board would be more appropriate. Don't take college life so seriously. It goes far too quickly. For those of you who are going to dress up in blue, wear a wig, paint your face, etc., you should be ashamed at yourself for acting like a...well uh...like a college student. [/sarcasm intended] Have fun at the game, all you Hoyas out there.

I mean, how sad is your life if you are offended by a half time show, that is probably the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. Offended??? Hardly. It would take a lot more to get me "offended". I just didn't like it, and had a slow day while I was "working" from home and thought I'd see if I was the only one. I'm truly stunned that the thread took on the life it did. For the most part, I've only replied to messages that personally attacked me. And as for people being drunk and therefore needing to comment on the performance, I think it's safe to say that I haven't had a drink in, oh, about 9 months or so . For all the attention that this thread has received, I hope that we aren't assuming tomorrow is a lock. Go Hoyas!

I don't think DBHall was trying to be homophobic. I think his point was similar to much of the criticism of the Olympics that you hear..... that ice dancing, figure skating, gymnastics, etc. are not sports. I think he was trying to say that one "coaches" a sports team, but one "teaches" a grouping of simultaneously performing dancers.

You are right bando, im really furious right now, so furious that I have posted 4 times in the last two days, about half as many times as you felt the need to post about ballroom dance. I am just having a good time getting people on this board who feel the need to criticize other people to respond to a few shots at their own corny game time routines. Im sorry Filo, if I find dressing up like one of the Jetsons, waiting four hours to get the front row seat in the student section and giving the number 1 sign on television or coming up with really creative cheers like "Jeff Green's Mom has got it going on" is lame, but I do... I guess I didnt have as much fun as you did in college, right.... I guess Ill go back to the "fine arts" message board that I normally post on, I think there actually might be a few more threads related to the Hoya vs Syracuse game on that board... rather then ballroom dance I'm sorry if I am close minded when I say, I think 40 year old men who dress up like an extra in "Tank Girl" are corny as hell

Can I add #7 (or was it #6) to Harbinhoyas list of things i hate. Lame college students who don't go to games and criticize those that do. And to qualify my position i don't even like the kids in wigs (i believe we used to have a name for those types of people in the front row, but the term escapes me...) And i can say this about YB... he dances alot better than he plays b-ball. Let's get this thread to 15 pages... "you can do it!!"

Chinatown, are you implying that I dont go to games? What have I said that would leave you to believe that? I agree with you, students that dont go to games and criticize those that do are lame. I think for living in NYC, 5 hoya home games this year and 3 away games is a decent amount.
