I was so pleasantly surprised with the construction photos part of the MSF site. The updates were like clockwork- every week you could expect new photos. It was so unlike Gtown. Alas, back to the information blackout. Just like old times for a university web site. Anyone know why the updates ceased? Particularly peculiar that the updates stopped just before the groundbreaking ceremony (ostensibly a photogenic event) officially kicked off construction.

No idea, Ive been dissapointed as well even though I see the construction site everyday from my window and walking by it.
It was so promising and looked like they were finally doing things right, very dissapointing.

I figured they were updating the pics in hope for more donations.

Maybe a student was taking the photos and has stopped due to finals or end of classes. Just a guess.

Thats not an excuse though, it takes a few minutes to go out and take a few pics, then upload them. Anyone could do it.

Sounds a lot like you are volunteering, 007. Actually, I dropped by recently and will be back to load up the truck with the young man's stuff this weekend. The good news is that I see progress, including footers for permanent construction on the south side (I think) of the field. That is in addition to what I have seen on the two sidelines. What worries me is that I cannot imagine what the plans are for seating in September. Still hoping that someone heard about those plans at the ground breaking. Anyone know about seating plans for 2005?

I thought those were footings for the stands at first as well. However, when they constructed them on the other side I started to doubt it. I'm now pretty positive that those concrete footings are simply the edge of where the turf is going to extend to.
From what DFW said I get the feeling that no stands will be built. Probably something like the temporary visitor stands from last year on both sides because he said that the planks from the home side wont be returning.

Well to whoever from GUHoyas.com is listening, when are we going to get the official signing list for 2005?

It's been nearly two weeks since the last photos were put up. Anyone have a progress report?

I'm thinking that the deeper into the summer we get, the fewer the picture postings are going to be.

Up until this latest batch, it seemed like the photo updates came every two weeks on a Wednesday. It appears that at least the "every two weeks" timeframe will hold.

There are new construction photos up: Click Here. How does this state of affairs differ (if at all) from the progress as seen by some of the first-hand witnesses, who described their accounts above?

Seeing the progress this weekend, I'd say there's been some progress over the last couple of weeks. It looks like the field area has been flattened, is almost fully enclosed, and is possibly ready for laying the field surface. There are now what look to be about 12 flag poles on each endline, and it looks like they have begun to reattach the scoreboard, now in the middle of the north endzone.
Also, as one of the pictures in the new update shows, they have begun to "tear down" the hill between Yates and the power plant, to move the West Road to allow for what will eventually be the home side permanent stands/offices.
