Hate to burst your bubble, 4ever, but its not going to look like that for a good 5-10 years. The eastern permanent stands probably won't be completed until this time next year at the earliest, not to mention the funding isn't even in place yet for the western permanent stands/pressbox/AD offices/weight room/locker room facilities.

If I were a betting man I would say the project gets done in 2011.

I will be 27 in 2011. That's not good news. Do you think the Business School building will have started by then?

It will be done well before the stadium. It has full funding and university support and no real chance of neighborhood complications.

Neither project has announced it has full funding, but both projects have passed muster with the neighborhood and zoning boards.
It is in Georgetown's best interest to build both simultaneously so that you minimize the construction equipment and infrastructure work. The as-yet unnamed MSF should get built at or ahead of the as-yet unnamed business building as a matter of construction.

I think people are being a bit melodramatic about the MSF completetion. I expect the thing will be done in 2007.

Hey DFW - I think that The Hoya reported that the Business School building has full funding, however the additional planned Science building does not have full funding and neither does the MSF - all of these comprise a larger plan known as the "Mid-Campus Plan" where the road will be either diverted or destroyed and replaced by a large staircase going down to the business school, science building, and MSF - none of which really have good names yet.

I stand corrected. Hopefully they are still on target with fundraising though and can get that $62M in the near future.

There's a picture of the "G" on the front page of GUHoyas.com ... but no full set released yet. Jerks.

I'm guessing the picture was taken from the best vantage point possible... maybe up on the Harbin Patio or something. Remember, the "G" is going to be facing the last part of the project: the West stands (pressbox, locker rooms, weight rooms, offices, etc.).
As for the space in between, if the installation is anything like it was at U of Buffalo or Ralph Wilson Stadium (projects my friend worked on), what they do is just generally lay it down, then they go piece by piece, inch by inch and make sure the seams are lined up, connected, all that crap. After the numerous Vet debacles, these companies are very careful to make sure the seams are perfectly aligned and connected... or so my "source" tells me.

Looks like new pics up today -- about 80% of the field has been laid down.

Got a question. First, take a look at the picture below: guhoyas.collegesports.com/genrel/071905aaa.html?pic=17Now, I understand conceptually what is going to happen with that little road that runs along the power plant, Yates, and behind Leavy over to the Lombardi Cancer Center. But are they going to leave a road there? As you can see in that picture, the dirt on the field side of the road tapers to a point, so the road is going to have to be all but removed to get the Phase II portion of the MSF in there. But will there be a road behind that? Is that why they are flattening that hill on the side of Yates/the observatory? ANyone have a link to a master pic of the whole area (I'm thinking one of those overhead, map-like photos we've seen in the past) that shows what its going to look like when all is said and done? I can't seem to find any...

Looks like they have a little extra turf. Maybe I can get some for my house; the yard is hurting a little bit right now. Perhaps it's just me, but I'm a little worried that the east stands won't be complete come September. I mean, are they going to throw them up in some Soviet-era "Hero Project" or something? Because I would think that six-to-eight weeks wouldn't be enough for that type of project, especially considering where they are on that side of things right now.

But are they going to leave a road there? I noticed the same thing and had the same reaction. My understanding is that the road will be relocated through additional landscaping once the funding is in place to start with Phase II. In the interim, however, I suspect they're going to repave the road where it currently runs (it actually looks to me like they've started that already).
