I am one exam left from being a second semester senior. Holy xxxx.
Unlike the most of you, my GTown experience has not been one of 48 out 49 home games attended or whatever. When I got here sophomore year (transferred her after freshman year at UGA), i went to games with 3 girls because I had 0 guy friends that actually cared. This caused me to miss many games that year. Last year I went abroad in the spring (best semester in the last 30 years to go abroad) and did not go to any december games because I couldnt find anyone to go with & the team looked like crap.
However, when i found out we canned Esh in an internet cafe in Spain I went nuts (and probably scared some Spaniards) signed up on this site and Hoyareport and am a lunatic now. I will now attend every game regardless. I have about 3 reasons as to why i want to live in DC after I graduate, one of them is Hoya basketball. Exams, except for extreme circumstances, should not get in the way of basketball. THIS IS YOUR LIFE, ENJOY IT.
CAhoya, your post almost made me cry, there are too many people here who freak out about school ALL THE TIME (for finals its understandable) and will graduate realizing they did not spend enough time having fun.
Not much point to this post besides the fact that I am procrastinating some studying.
(while writing this post, cook walked up and started using one of the computers next to me, somehow that is weird)

Tbird, I was in that final with your friend. It was hilarious to see him in all his glory.

By the way,
Any students who live on campus and want to come back early to the UCONN game are welcome to stay at my place on 33rd street. As long as you dont steal my stuff its cool. I will be providing booze for the game as well.

Tbird's story may just supplant FormerHoya's as finals story of the thread. However, the only issue is one of eligibility. Since the story did not actually happen to you but one of your friends, does it qualify? I'm not sure. Anyhow, this has become the best thread I have ever started, and perhaps the best thread that has ever existed. Thank you to all, and keep the drinking stories, SFS-bashing, and sticking it to the MAN coming! HOYA @#$%ING SAXA!

question: I haven't been to MCI for a long time. do they check student IDs when you enter or can my brother, who doesnt go here, use the ticket of another student? we are going to the UConn game and does that mean that there will be tighter restrictions because it is a big game?

LOL... This thread is turning into an SFS bash. What I will say to my friends in the COL and so forth is to stop by the hoops office and read the inscription near the deflated basketball. What does the inscription say? Do nothing but study and don't ever enjoy yourself. The whole idea of the deflated basketball is to not put all your eggs in one basket. If you can't take 2 hours off for a break then I believe that you're violating John Thompson's ideology in the other extreme.

Hoya4ever-
The checking student ID thing is kinda erratic- sometimes they do, and sometimes they don't. However, if your brother is college-age and he's wearing a G-town t-shirt, all you have to do if they ask for student ID is to have him look into his wallet and then be like "damn... i left it back at New South... I promise you I'm a student though" and they'll let him in w/ no problem. That's how I've gotten my brother and friends from other schools in several times.

If you can't take 2 hours off for a break then I believe that you're violating John Thompson's ideology in the other extreme. That's your interpretation. I am just reading the text as written and it says nothing about anything other than not letting your life be consumed with the sport of basketball. Whether JT2 intended to extend that to include other things, you and I don't know.

Are you serious? I guess you were right about not going, if you had attended those games last week then your life would have officially been consumed with the sport of basketball.
Anyway, I'm sure that John Thompson didn't intend for that to be interpreted in such a way. I guess we don't exactly know if it was meant to include other things, but Im willing to bet that it should be interpreted generally. I guess if you want to believe that he was all about students sitting around studying and making excuses that they can't go to basketball games because of "too much work" then fine.
I can say one thing for sure, you will never have the pleasure of taking that lovely train ride to MEGAFANLAND! haha ;D

Stop talking to each other, focus on me.
1:15 - 12 pages done, 3 filler pictures.
This is going much more slowly than I expected, at about 2 pages per hour when i'm not being distracted by TV - I guess that is what happens when you have to research and write at the same time.

You seem to be on pace to have it finished by 730. That should give you some time to read it over once or twice.

Mega, I was more a bball fan(atic) while at GU. I think I missed two games my senior year (that is, home and away), as we traveled the east coast in the search of a Hoya game. After I took up distance running in grad school (and consequently decreased my bball playing), I took a greater interest in track and field. When you can root for the Hoyas in track and field, that became nirvana for me. But I never abandoned my love of Georgetown hoops; I am often shunned by my family, who do not share my love of GU bball - they even suggest taping over some of my old GU games (horrors!). Bottom line, I have enough love for both Georgetown track and field and bball. I don't see too much of a conflict here, except to say that most of my money that I donate to GU goes to the Spiked Shoe club with some to the HHC (there are less of us track and field fans, so I see the greater need for my $ here).

Not that I ever questioned your loyalty to Hoya Hoops, but I'm glad to hear that you have apparently equal affection for both sports. Furthermore, it's not as though you need to worry about chosing between them when it comes to watching on tv, etc. As for taping over those old Hoya games - the horror! Well, here's to enjoying many more years of Hoya hoops, to the success of this years team, and to our continued climb back to the top!
GO HOYAS!!!

you're lucky you're not in law school... the night before cramming just doesn't cut it. san jose st. was my first missed home game (not counting games during break). Might have actually made it to the game if i had not had a few too many drinks before and after the illini game in celebration of my torts exam being over. Unlike the rest of you i gotta a final on the 20th ...ugh Law school finals can be fun too, but it is probably best to wait until after it is over. After my last exam last year, I finished earlier than everyone else so I ran to Kogod's by the law center and picked up a few tallboys to hand to my friends on the way out of torts. Sure, it was my worst grade of the year, but at least I got a Budweiser out of it. I will save stories about undergrad exams with the knowledge that my father, my mother, my boss, and my impressionable younger brothers all may read them here. Let's just say FormerHoya and I spent some quality time together. Antitrust tomorrow, then 3 glorious weeks without law school. Should be great.

Tbird's story may just supplant FormerHoya's as finals story of the thread.
In fairness to FormerHoya, and as the friend who supplied him with the book still in its shrinkwrap the night before the final, I believe I should finish the story for him. Upon arriving at his apartment to walk over to our last final, I asked if he was enjoying the refreshing beverage he was carrying around, assuming he needed it to sober up for the final. Turns out it was a massive screwdriver, with not much OJ. He said he was saving it for the last hour of the exam. Sure enough, when we left, it was empty and he was smiling the smile of a man about to attend beach week in all its glory

If anyone would like to post the course titles for some of these courses in which folks had the 19th hole during the exam, it would be much appreciated. My roommate is looking for another class next semester.

Any Father Schall class is both worth taking and easy. No, that's not contradictory like it may seem. Sadly, however, he's taking a leave of abscence for next semester due to health problems, so your roommate can't take him next semester. However, if he comes back in the fall, anyone who can should definately take him. He teaches political theory classes in the government department, focusing on the classics.

Is Father King still alive and teaching? I know they pulled his mass a few years ago.
