Overall, the Hoyas cover/over hits has been a pretty successful parlay for me this season. It has taken a bit of the sting out of a lot of our losses, so I'll be letting it rip one more time today.

Are you willing to wait until at least mid-May for him to go through the draft process? I wouldn't be. Also, I'd prefer younger players who'll be around for multiple years We waited around for Dickinson and Spencer last summer, so it seems like Cooley is willing to wait for the right guys. Whatever we did last offseason/summer, we need to do the opposite. Ours is the coaching staff version of George Costanza - they should do the opposite of their instinct, and it just might work out for them.

Looking at Miami, they won the portal the past few years. Omier, Pack & Cleveland just delivered a 15-17 regular season and 6-14 in a weak conference. Portal success is harder then it looks. They also went to the final four last season

It’s kind of funny that Providence is playing us. It’s truly a no-win situation for them. A win over our execrable team doesn’t even help their bubble status, while a loss to us definitely kills their tourney chances. It would certainly be a quasi-happy ending for Georgetown in what has been an annoying and exhausting year-long saga with the Friars.
On our side, a win would be nice, but we’d need to string together a few wins to do anything to nudge the narrative that this has been a lost season.

I enjoyed Coach Thomas’ enthusiasm when the change was made last year and leading up to this season, but it’s very hard to be all that upset about losing any member of the staff that guided us during this dismal season.

If only college basketball was a game of 1 v 1… This selfish Primo Epps offensive scheme, and how Cooley and Ewing designed and allowed it, is one of the reasons we only have 4 wins in 3 years of BE play. Will Cooley play it next year with hopefully more talent on board? I think this is a good question but it has zero to do with my response related to this year, tomorrow's game and "this roster". And as was asked elsewhere in this thread, no, I don't think our record of 9-22, 2-18 would be better if Epps was shooting less. The roster from a necessary talent perspective was a failure by the staff year 1, purposeful or not - whether one gives them a pass for that or not based on circumstances (which i do), that fact remains. As Cooley said in the presser yesterday, offense isn't the pressing issue. In the last six weeks we scored over 75 points 5 times (won once). 3 of those were 85+. Lost all 3. If we had 5 wins with those 3 (2 against Xavier 1 against St Johns) the narrative around here would be vastly different. As for next year, I'd certainly hope we'll have enough talent to not need to rely so heavily on Epps trying to play hero ball. A “purposeful” failure is not a concept that I understand. And if it was somehow purposeful, I wish they had informed us of that before I put down a few thousand bucks for season tickets.

FWIW I live in PA. Understand that there are 6 levels in PIAA basketball and 5A is one from the top. A kid with Sorber's size should dominate at the 5A level. I've been to three 6A state tourney games and haven't seen any high D1 level talent yet. In short, I wouldn't get too excited about whatever Sorber does for the remainder of the tourney. In fact I'd be a little concerned if he didn't get his team to at least the state championship game. "Thomas Sorber dominated EYBL, but we really should be worried about whatever nonsense happens in the PA tourney because of competition levels" is certainly a take, but it's an absolutely terrible one. Thanks for the analysis, Simon Cowell. Get a life.

It has been a long season, but ending Providence’s hopes of making a run would be satisfying at some level. Posted this earlier this week. It would be a tiny cherry on top of this s—- sundae of a season. It would be sweet for sure.

I dream about the day we can troll like this. For those that dont know the PC fanbase's go to response online is "Thank you". Why would anyone with a life know that about the Providence fanbase?

I didn't get a ball and I was there. I got 5 people to fill our 9 seats. The guy holding the Friars license plate in my section (VA plates) was insufferable. His wife kept grabbing him. Who brings a license plate to a game? We had Provy fans behind us too who were frankly pretty knowledgeable about their program & players. Not overly angry individges but there are a lot of them in that fan base. They are the scorned lovers. The ex spouses who were cheated on. They are taking this to the grave and won't change their stripes anytime soon. It is going to make it really fun when we are consistently beating them again and they are an afterthought. One would think that right now Provy fans would see themselves as the ex-spouse whose husband left to go live in a van down by the river with the toothless unemployed meth addict with 4 underdeveloped brats under the age of 6. Haha. But watch it! or certain thin-skinned posters will advise you to go start your own board

If we draw Providence in the BET, I think we knock them off. And that would provide a bit of sweetness at the end of a bitter season. Let’s hope!

Of course Epps loves Cooley. Epps gets paid and is allowed to play however he feels like it, carte blanche, no matter how detrimental it is to the team concept. Based on the way he talks about Epps in comparison to how he discusses other players, Cooley may have a blind spot here, which would be harmful to the team beyond just this singular disastrous season. Epps is the best player Cooley has right now. His six 30+ point games are remarkable not only in one Georgetown season (a number matched only by Reggie Williams and Allen Iverson) but in one season he's already tied for 5th all time in that category. Yes, his defense is lacking and he is a streak shooter that defenses are quick to adjust to. The shaky defense is a function of playing out of position and his 6-2 size is vulnerable against taller guards like Devin Carter and Desmond Claude. As for overshooting, this would be a three win team without him this year. A roster relying on Jay Heath or Wayne Bristol to get 15-18 ppg every night would go nowhere. Epps would be a solid sixth man to come in and provide a burst of scoring. That’s best case - let’s hope that happens.

Pr, guru, boya and traversb should start a thread that only the 4 of you can access. Just be miserable in their together. Save the rest of us from looking up to see continuous jabs and unhelpful pot shots so that you can get your frustration out without making the board a cesspool. Just look up at this page in the thread. Boya from the top rope. Guru elbow drop. PR - Finish him. It's like a tag team of guys who seem to get joy out the pain that is Gtown basketball currently. None of us enjoy the losing or accept the status quo as OK in any form. But you 4 continue on a daily basis to make this forum less enjoyable for me and I'm sure many other diehards agree. If that's the goal - mission accomplished. Weird outburst. I decline. Also, you could have written the same thing about TC and a few others the past few seasons. So what goes around, comes around.

Another painful loss, but agree it was a good postgame presser. I thought Cooley struck the right tone. Not overly sales-y, but positive in a more authentic way. His resolve was there. Had high praise for Fielder. I didn't know he had been battling knee issues? Is that news? Anyway, he said Fielder was as healthy as he has been all year. Hopefully not a long-term issue for him. How does one view Ed's postgame presser? It's usually on Comedy Central, I believe.

For the nostalgic, with road games ahead, this may be the last game Georgetown wears the 1996 gray jerseys. A completely new jersey look is in order for 2024-25 after four years with these designs. That’s good news. Program needs a total refresh

Given the relatively high prices on stubhub and other reselling sites, I’d imagine that any Providence fans in the general DMV vicinity are the buyers. Can’t see many Hoya fans motivating to get themselves to this one at the end of this dismal season. Combined with the students being gone on spring break, this sets up to be a pro-Friar crowd. Embarrassing, but maybe a fitting end to a complete mess of a 2023-24 Hoyas campaign.

They are 262 in offense and their message board is complaining about why didn't they hire Rick Pitino. Sounds like a smart message board. We are 329 in defense and some on HoyaTalk were consistent in their desire for Pitino over Cooley. It makes sense that fans would want their team to have the best coach available. Unsurprising that TC is the type who spends time reading message boards for other teams. Really checks out.

Have to question the defensive scheme being played Cooley’s defensive plan was another one of his comedy routines.

We can mark doesn’t throw players under the bus away after last nights presser. When asked what the fix is he said recruiting. He’s not wrong though. It's always uncomfortable when you have to explain humor to people but this is self-effacing and he's making himself the butt of the joke. Oh my goodness you’re right! This is an actually hilarious bit of comedy. Legendary. Hard to stop laughing once you’ve had someone like TC “explain humor.” What a service you’ve done. And it’s just really nice how you give the coach the benefit of every doubt.
