RBHOYA,
You, RDF and other members on this board seem to know a lot about recruiting and respect that and enjoy reading your posts. Can you or anyone tell me why Gtown can not land the player like Lance Stephenson and others. Its it because Gtown doesn't play the type of recruiting games that other programs will do?

MCI or anyone else
What is Steve Francis relationship with Maryland you think now and do you think he gets along with Gary? He is on coaches Thomspos show all the time and i have seem him hanging around Gtown and the players a few times as well. I work with a bunch of Twerp fans and his name is never mentioned
Can someone on this board please tell me about Curt Smith? I use to hear his name at the Kenner league and is he suppose to be some kind of DC playground legend. Was he ever recruited by Georgetown?

jay, good post and is the story with Grant Hill really true? I thought i herd on radio show a few years ago make a comment about he loved Gtown and someone on staff asked him to read a book. I had no idea it was Mary Fenlon. If so I bet she feels stupid now Ok I grew up in the DC area and been a big Gtown fan for years so here are some other rumors I have herd over the years: Sharif Abdul Rahim- Wanted to attend GTOWN but was concerned about being a muslim student a at Catholic school with no Islamic studies programs Korleon Young - Was slated to attend Gtown but went pro and we all know how that turned out. This is not technically a recruiting loss but word on that street at the time was when Maryland went on probation after the bob wade years. Walt Williams and Jurad Mustaf were interested in transferring to Gtown but the Maryland People were NOT HAVING IT!

RBHoya,
You make some good points in your comments above. I would think that AI is somewhere smiling about this despite those guys being his friends on the time. Can you are someone here explain to me why he was in my opinion the poster boy for why we lost in 2004 when it was evident that he and Tim Duncan seem to be the only ones who even cared and played the best.
Thanks,
Eblack

Elvado i think you are correct. Memphis eventually lost to Houston (PHI SLAMA JAMA) and we know what happened to Houston once they got to New Mexico. But check this speaking of 1983 does anyone remember when channel 5 WTTG use to show the BE tournament. In them days they would only show the GT tourney games and Channel 7 would with jefferson pilot would show the ACC tournament. Also remember when that public channel i think it was channel 53 or 56 would show SEC, METRO and other conferrence tournaments. They would ask for donations during the commerical breaks.

Can you imagine Esherick waking up this morning reading the Washington Time and seeing Barker Davis Classic QUOTE:
"When a Georgetown player did move without the ball, the cuts were soft, slow and made without conviction or urgency. The result was an offense that could best be described as vintage Craig Esherick Era: one-on-five aesthetic ugliness ending in a wild shot or ill-advised pass."--Barker Davis, The Washington Times
That is messed up!

DFW, thanks for your insight and i need your response to calm me down a little. Don't get me wrong. GM played a great game and i take nothing away from them. The fans have been great and i girl i'm trying to date attends the university so i'm on my way now over to the campus. It couldnt have happen to a better team than UCONN. I hope this game POPS that programs bubble once for all and i hope they have a hard time recovering from this. I just want our HOYA's to one get back to the final four and for once start kicking UCONNs but again.

Yes a great win form George Mason. Being a life long hoya fan i'm kind of stunned how LSU and George Mason can get to the final four and Georgetown can't. Seems like other schools get all the breaks and we simply don't. I wonder how this will effect the balance of basketabll in this area.
