Finally, aren't you all happy that we're not talking about Georgetown in this conversation? 10 wins in the BE, going on 11 (and then maybe 14, baby!!!) LET'S GO HOYAS!!! SINK SOUT FLORIDA! That's funny -- I was thinking about us the whole way through it because there has been so much talk of our unbalanced (and easier conference schedule). 9 of our (hopefully) 11 wins will have come against teams in the bottom half of the conference. I don't have the time to look into it, but I imagine it might be possible to find a 7-9 that was more impressive than our 11-5. Although a 7-9 would surely have some bad losses in it, which we obviously don't have. But I generally agree with Mega that Saxa's edict doesn't work with the unbalanced schedules. Please no one misinterpret my comments. I officially declare this post is not negative. You play the schedule you are given. I am thrilled with our performance to date and couldn't be more excited and optimistic about the coming days, weeks, months and years ahead for Georgetwon Basketball. On top of it all, I will have never enjoyed another man drinking two beers as I will the cold ones Dtrain plans to enjoy on DFW's dime next week...

Take a few days off before posting. Please.
The better team is going to win today. Congratulations. Just take a few days and enjoy it before bothering to tell us how good we are and what a challenge it was.

And they did us a favor. We can still get that first round bye even with a loss tomorrow if WVU takes care of Pitt. While it helps our chances v. Pitt, the Marquette win now adds them very much to the 4th seed/bye mix. Their finishing three are all very winnable and they have the tiebreaker edge over us obviously.

Full Court does do pay-per-view. But your cable provider has to carry Full Court in the first place. For instance, living in Boston, Comcast doesn't carry Full Court to begin with. Ergo, the pay-per-views are off limits to me and other Comcast Bostonians. I have done Full Court online (through ESPN.com) for a few games and it is great. The quality of the picture diminishes a bit if you watch it on the full screen, but I have not had any interuptions or choppy video. I have been very pleased with it. As others have mentioned it is $14.95 per day (not game).

Just have a policy, let everyone know what it is, and stick with it. That's the key. I have no problem with them allocating tickets based on HHC donation levels (and they explicitly told me that is how they do it when I called to inquire about my Cuse order), but they need to come up with a better system. If I recall ticket orders for Syracuse were due in late December. If that deadline was real, how is it that I have not heard anything from them -- (1) that my order was received, (2) that I will have tickets, (3) where the tickets will be? They need to get organized. I recall that some HHC members noted in the fall that they received calls from the HHC thanking them for their donation. After making a donation this year quite a bit larger than years past (understanding it is all relative), I not only never heard anything in in any form, but 6 weeks later I had to call the office to ask them to include me on the email distribution list. Like many have noted - they need to get organized.

A beautiful display of basketball today and loved seeing the toughness and team play--it's carrying over and just keep playing that way and we'll be in every game and win more than our share. Standing ovation for the program--Staff and Players--and just so proud to see them building off a great win and not settling for that as the moment--let's keep the focus and intensity and just keep playing tough, team oriented basketball. Highlights of the game were the team's willingness to keep making the extra pass and share the ball and the team defense--which was excellent--forcing Bearcats to take shots they don't like/want to take. Dominating the glass was key as well and the concerted effort by everyone was awesome. Individually I thought each guy contributed in a strong way and always happy to see Bowman playing aggressive and his game today is all we need each game and we'll be in position to win. Jeff Green is starting to play as expected and taking his game up a level--and he and Brandon's FT's look so much better it's not even funny. Keep it up guys. Ashanti and Darrell have been steady as can be the majority of the year and you can start to throw Jon Wallace's name in there as well. How about Jessie and Marc today? This was best I've seen Jessie look offensively and his jumpshot looked smooth and he was more comfortable on court. Egerson is going to be something too--he comes into games and always contributes and is prepared to play which I like--rarely does he force something and his jumper and rebounding was nice to see today. Already commented on Josh and Tay below and it was nice to finally see them play and you can see how they'll fit in the mix as well. It's just nice to have a program where every FR doesn't HAVE to play--they can learn and be prepared when they get their turn to play which I hope is case for both kids. Roy is so much better it's not even funny and can't wait to see him 2 years from now--if he keeps progressing he'll be a terror! Coaching wise--love the class and focus kids play with and that is a reflection on III. We're seeing more aggression and attacking within the system and some by pushing/running ball up the court to either score or get set early on offensive end. Just nice to have a SYSTEM and one that is about sharing the ball and playing as a team--nothing better to watch in the sport and just keep it up--I can deal with outcome either way if we just see the Hoyas play good team ball on both ends. Proud of the program and can't wait for Tuesday Night--let's enjoy this win and then get focused on DePaul. One at a time and keep going after each one like we've seen! Pride is back and now want the Paranoia back! Great, great post RDF. Sums up exactly how I feel tonight as well. Hoya saxa.

What is the RPI that he refers to that the NCAA uses? is that the one DFW has linked on the front page?

Each win along the way should be celebrated and each milestone recognized... GP -- is it taking it too far for a happily married thirty-five year old with two lovely young kids and a recent job promotion to consider Saturday one of the happiest days of his life?

I demand an apology to Doyel from some of our more reactionary posters! The guy has written perhaps the two most interesting non-local pieces about the Hoyas all season--in one night. He loves us! Apologies for the clutter, but ... great post!

I also agree with RDF 100% and have been surprised by some of the negativity. It was a road win in conference against a good team - that is a glorious thing. The carry over from Saturday was obvious and impressive throughout most of the first half. The ball movement, shot selection and execution was beautiful to watch. You knew (or should have known) they were going to make a run. But we withstood it and walked out with the W. So who cares about the foul.

rich is great. i will never remember his call against Weber St., Iverson's freshman year when they won after Iverson airballed a three and Don Reid dunked it to win by two. Rich goes nuts, and screams "Georgetown wins, georgetown wins, georgetown beats WEBER State" classic, almost as good as teh Hoyas win from yesterday. I have committed Rich's Weber State call to memory: "...his toss ... in the air ... missed it ... rebound Reid off to Williams to the pushing up Iverson ... three seconds ... two seconds ... hanging jumper by Iverson...no... rebound Reid it's good, it's good, my god it's good, my god it's good, my god it's good, Georgetown has beaten Weber State, Georgetown has beaten Weber State, Georgetown has beaten Weber State ..." That finish never got its due on the highlight reels that day because the Tyus Edny UCLE end to end buzzer beater went down at the exact same time.

I thought Lundquist and Packer were very good. Oh, sometimes Vern gets a bit flowery (beautiful!) and the pre-game montage was a bit one-sided, but he got real excited, not fake Vitale excited, when exciting things happened, and aside from Packer's "JJ was fouled" sequence, he was pretty darn good. Aside from Patrick and Vitale, I can take pretty much any one of the major announcing teams. I agree -- I thought they were both very good and very fair. While the reference to Redick's bomb as "beautiful" may be bit much, Verne was equally as excited the next play -- the Wallace acrobatic reverse layup. They both seemed to really appreciate what a great college basketball game it was and their coverage added to my enjoyment of the game (if you can call it that until it was over!)

Didn't see this in another thread, so apologies if this is clutter. I need our big brained RPI predicting board members to chime in. If we are at 63 right now, what do we think we jump to with a loss and what do we jump to with a win? Go Hoyas. Thanks. dTRAIN This was posted by HoyaPhatty34 yesterday -- relates to SOS rather than RPI, but interesting nonetheless... "I know some of you are tired of the RPI talk, but I've recently been pretty concerned with Georgetown's strength of schedule since a few of our opponents (Oregon) are doing worse than we thought, while some just are devastatingly bad (Stetson, Savannah State). I know we've all been hoping the Duke game would help with this, so I made sure to watch NC State's SOS both before and after the Duke game. It changed in this way: Before Duke: 167 After Duke: 78 Their overall SOS dropped by 89 places. Now I know it's an inexact science, but Georgetown's SOS, which is 155 (on , should also fall significantly just from this one game as well. Here's hoping that our W-L percentage also improves, catapulting us up the ranks! "

what a pointless, stupid post. I also thought JC made a fair point. As others have noted, JC has been a long-time poster whose enthusiasm for the Hoyas and upbeat attitude has helped through some tough times for Board Hoya fans over the years. He took a lot of heat for his prose years ago, but most of us have gotten used to it by now. You might want to consider the fact that many posters on this Board (not me - CAS 92) have been living and dying with Hoya Basketball since long before you were even born. Perhaps a little respect, or at least manners, are in order.

So we're just about a quarter of the way through our Big East schedule, and we know very little about where we stand. I thought I'd take a second to ponder the games the rest of the way if we're truly tourney hopeful. Here's how I see it: Group 1 (Gimmies): 3/4 @ USF (humor me. plus, they'll have packed it in by then) (That's 4-2) Group 2 (Lose home games like this and get your NIT tickets now): 2/9 St. John's 2/22 Rutgers (6-2) Group 3 (Gotta have two this year with ND down): 1/24 @ ND 1/31 @ DePaul 2/16 @ Marquette (8-3) Group 4 (Three required, unless the two wins come from Pitt and WVU, or we'd better sweep Group 3): 1/28 Cincy 2/5 Pitt 2/12 WVU 2/25 Syracuse (11-4) Group 5 (Erases a loss to Groups 1 or 2 and/or forgives less than 5 wins out of Groups 3 & 4): 2/19 @ Nova (11-5) I know there are people thinking Big East 10-6 is enough, but I'm not sure I'm convinced. I think we'd definitely be on the bubble in that case (unless one of the wins is @ Nova), whereas 11-5 definitely puts us in. It really depends on where the 10 wins come from. We've simply got too many of these games at home, and our home-and-home schedule is maybe the easiest in the conference. I could definitely see another team with a tougher sked going 8-8 in the league and getting picked easily ahead of us, a la BC in 2002. Unless everyone is playing the same league schedule, in-conference record is not a perfect predictor of tourney status. I agree with all of this. It really highlights how badly we need to go 3-0 from 1/24-1/31.

Couple of serious thoughts... There was never a real problem with crowd noise in big games in 1996... I love a post that reminds me of the Nova game at CC/USAir in '96. That team was great and the building rocked that day (as only Cap Centre could!)

we have a bunch of remaining games against teams of our caliber in the BE. losing to WV again and Nova wont hurt our chances for the tournament. the biggest key for us is not losing to any teams we should definitely beat. we will get a few big wins this year... we just cannot afford losing to the Oral Roberts, St Johns, and Providences of last year. BE will get 7+ teams in the tournament. WV, Louisville, UConn, Nova will probably be locks (maybe Pitt too). I think (Pitt), Syracuse, Gtown, Cincy, and Marquette vie for the other 3 spots with a 4th possibly getting in. Our record vs. these teams, along with "big wins" vs. the upper tier will get us in. With our sched.. we should be able to get at least 10 regular season wins. Anything less and we are in the same boat as last year, needing to win BET to get in. Just curious -- other than USF twice and SJU and Rutgers at home, what are the other games you are putting in the "definitely should beat category." I am having problems finding others at this point. I expect that we will win at least 4 more, but am having a hard time at this point finding others in the "given" category (and quite frankly, it is probably not a good idea to put any conferece games in that category).
