Schools with 90% acceptance rates and under 10% yield are not competitive. They are just happy to fill seats. Many of those students would be better off going to a trade school/program.

Mojo up from the get-go....Aggressive offensive push and pressure...Let this not go to PKs. PKs do worry me, especially in the NCAAs. I like to get ahead of myself. đ¤Ł

4,100 students is never going to happen. Itâs good to set high expectations though. This is correct. Weâd have to change our admissions drastically for anything like that to happen. That would mean more than half the undergraduate student population. No way, not even with free tickets.

from that Voice article: Cooley ended the interview with a message for the Georgetown community, and particularly the students, on what is to come. âIt is my hope that our students give us an opportunity to grow together, to come to the games no matter who weâre playing, but cheer for what weâre doing,â he said. âCome with some energy, enthusiasm. It is our goal to try to get 4,100 students per home game. Everybodyâs saying, âOkay, are we going to win?â Do you win first, then be supported, or do you support and then win? I think itâs a balance of both, and playing in the number one conference in the country is going to take us some time, but I need everybody to buckle up, put their seatbelt on, and letâs go through this rocky beginning together.â I so want to be winning sooner than later, but I know that I/we need to keep our eyes on the prize (sorry) and enjoy the journey that gets us to where we want to be. It's happening, starting now, but it will take weeks and months and a few years of growing and picking up the pieces that make us better year to year, and morphing into a genuine, formidable team. Before you know it -- but not anytime real soon -- we will be something to witness. Can't wait. But have to. Hoya Saxa. 4,100 students is never going to happen. Itâs good to set high expectations though.

4-16 BE or worse is going to feel like the needle hasnât moved much. 6-14 would be a decent season, all things considered.

Hoyaboya is relentlessly negative, but he/she hasnât crossed a line in my opinion. Canât ban all Negative Nellies. I guess you could limit the number of posts per day. We have the option to ignore posters.

GU is a destination, Providence a stepping stone. Recent records donât matter. Not going to change in our lifetimes.

I realize in advance that this is going to come across as excuse-making, but Pitino has several advantages over Cooley that allows St. John's to be more of a major player this upcoming season, and one of those advantages was inheriting a program in much better shape. However the key advantage of them all may be familiarity. Pitino knows New York City. He recruited there when an assistant at Syracuse and as a head coach at Providence. He spent plenty of time in that city for Big East tournaments. Most crucially he was the coach of the New York Knicks for a few years, a stint that is remembered fondly by New York fans. He is able to sell the return of St. John's not just to the school's faithful but to the NYC community at large because that community is very familiar with him. Even beyond the borders of The Big Apple, he is a household name across the nation to sports fans. He is a master of the media as few college basketball coaches have been. Add on his amazing tournament success and multiple championships and it should come as no surprise that he is ahead of Cooley in terms of returning his current program back to prominence. Good for him. I'm happy for St. John's. That program's return to major relevance is good for the Big East. Yet while he may win the sprint I feel very comfortable about Cooley winning the longer race. I love what recruiting doing, particularly on the recruiting front. I think its important for Georgetown to NOT be awful this season. Anything better than that is gravy. If the Hoyas surpass all expectations and make the dance then that would be great; if they fall short of that but show fight and competitiveness that would be a step in the right direction too. The real results will start being realized in season two. You make a damn good case for Pitino. Of course Cooley will win the marathon, heâs 54 versus Rick at 71. I think the excuse this season will be rebuild, injury and lack of bodies. Next yearâs excuse will be we got some good players but they need seasoning. Year three will be the true test in my opinion. Rooting for Ed.

Wonder if Pitino could have filled McD tonight? đ¤ These students have only seen a handful of BE wins over the past two seasons.

The problem with committing to a long rebuild is how many seasons will fans remain patient. The sense of urgency and âwin nowâ are appealing to some. The Big East is going to be a gauntlet.

My game plan against GU would be to throw everything defensively against Epps and see if others can beat us.

What about the added crime and public urination? 𤣠In the most recent statistics (September 2023), 52% of all crime on Metro amounts to one charge: fare evasion. Fix that (and they are) and things begin to improve. Question for the DC residents out there: much of the cost of the Blue Line involves a tunnel under the Potomac to divert traffic out of Rosslyn. Why can't a bridge (think the Yellow Line bridge parallel with the 14th and Long Bridges) be a better alternative? In NYC, they recently found that +30% of fare evaders had past criminal records.

"I would not be surprised if the Georgetown Hoyas stole a spot in March Madness after a two-year hiatus, even though they have the conferenceâs lowest KenPom ranking at 159. Their most recent appearance came after winning the Big East Tournament as a No. 8 seed in 2021, but even if the automatic bid is not in reach, the Hoyas have the talent to secure their first at-large selection since 2015. Jay Heath, Wayne Bristol Jr. and Ryan Mutombo all stayed in Washington, DC amid the coaching change from Patrick Ewing to Ed Cooley, making up 21% of the teamâs returning minutes and 26% of their scoring from 2022-23. Gone are Primo Spears and Brandon Murray, both of whom departed for Power 5 schools; in are University of North Carolina guard Dontrez Styles, University of Illinois guard Jayden Epps and All-MAAC Third Team selection Supreme Cook. Averaging a career-high 13.1 points as a junior, Cook covered both sides of the glass with the Fairfield Stags at 3.2 offensive rebounds and 5.2 defensive boards per game." dailycampus.com/2023/10/19/the-coleumn-could-the-big-east-conference-be-a-seven-bid-league/ I think we may be decent, but getting Ws in the BE wonât be easy.

Yes, you want a program that tries and gives fans hope.
