The majority don’t think this. Basketball donors and Board members are very different groups.

Maryland and Mediocre Kevin Willard smoked Maryland losing in the second round to a #1 is certainly better than what we’ve done the last decade. ☹️

Hope we don’t end up with Some-Random-Dude. If any administration can botch a search, it’s GU’s.

If you believe the program should move on from the Thompson stranglehold, it doesn’t make you a racist. I still believe this is ultimately a one candidate search. Cooley or bust, spare no expense. Cooley will not fire a Thompson, RT stays. Downside and upside both limited.

We would not be pursuing a coach within our own conference and paying him ~$5 million if he weren’t a Thompson appointee. 🤔

If that's all this is, let's just have the president's committee preselect the next six coaches through 2075: 1. Patrick Ewing Jr 2. Dylan Thompson 3. Patrick Ewing III 4. Bill Howze III 5. John Thompson IV THis is what I am saying. These people see JT2 behind every corner with ROnny. I really don't get it. Other than they must hate JT2. No, most of us recognize it’s time to move forward. Can’t recreate the past.

JDG will hire the coach that he thinks JT2 would hire. Don’t overthink it. If that's all this is, let's just have the president's committee preselect the next six coaches through 2075: 1. Money aside, if it’s Cooley coupled with Ronny gone, I’m not sure why that’s not as close to an ideal scenario as possible for us. I’d add, I don’t think we are the only school who is/would rule out Pitino either, so to act like there's only a “Georgetown on their high horse” attitude here, I don’t think is right. This is not a Top 5 job that is going to get guys like Bennett or Sampson to leave their schools. And really Brian Dutcher is who you’re clamoring for? Kevin Ollie? Mike Rhoades? If you stay realistic about who’d come here, I’d say getting a guy who knows how to win in our league is a solid hire. Is he worth that $? I don’t think so, but there’s a tax we have to pay given the state of the program to get someone to leave their job for, in what can be argued isn’t that much a better job than they have now. Plus a GU basketball administration that undermines your success with their own self-preservation agenda. Please gut the kindergartners.

I’m guessing that Ryan may be the only returning player. I’m guessing Ryan and several other players will return like Heath, Akok, Big Brad, Murray and Bristol. But this speculation could change by tomorrow. No way a new coach being paid $3-$5 million is going to run back 2-18.

We are too good to look at Pitino, but are comfortable poaching a coach from a founding BE program. 🤔

We are going to make a DEI hire, Pitino out. We are not ultimately poaching inter-conference, Cooley possibly out. Shrewsberry or another African American coach. The next coach needs to kiss the Thompson ring and fly the kente flag. It’s just what it is. We are not moving away from the past until the rest of the administration turns over.

Should Pitino's agent figure in the income tax rates for the NY area v DMV? Virginia taxes have to be less than NY. Offer him country club memberships! Yeah, I'm grasping at straws why Pitino should choose the Hoyas over SJU. It’s not his choice if we’re not interested. With Cooley, an inter-conference coaching move at a power conference has to be an extremely rare move. Any examples?

What has Hurley ever done? Yes they are having a good year, but he’s never won a single game in the NCAAT at UConn despite being a higher seed both times, and is now 0-3 in BET semi-finals, twice as a favorite. You can dislike Cooley, but apply the same standards to Hurley at least. Hurley is a more accomplished regular season coach than Cooley. Like Cooley, he has struggled in the postseason, but his career has started out better than Cooley’s first decade, and it’s not close. Head to head, he kicked Cooley’s ass yesterday. Cooley’s a good coach, but the top half of the league is loaded with them. Pitino could elevate the program to the top, but it doesn’t look like he’s coming here. I’d be okay with Cooley, but he’s the most “family” oriented option.

Let’s hope the search firm provides JDG enough cover to take Pitino
