To quote Teddy KGB from Rounders (with the worst Russian accent in the history of cinema), "Pay the man his money."

Awaka looks like a prototypical Cooley low-post guy.

Sorber’s got a little Uncle Jeff versatility to his game. Can see him being used as a 4. That’s the position he played for long stretches at the Capital Classic game.

The broadcasters are right to say that we are frustrated.
But that fracas was all Moore acting like a child. Styles just stood his ground.
Really upsetting that the broadcasters are trying to paint us in a bad light when our player did nothing objectionable.

Bluejay runs have occurred with Massoud in the line up. Not to pile on the kid, but he has not contributed at all. Not playing Fielder instead has been a mystery.

As someone who went to the law school there, I can say with firsthand experience that Vandy fans excel at complaining about officiating. Like the Jeff Green winner 🤪 I remember walking out of the Meadowlands and encountering a group of surly Vandy fans after that game. I was wearing a Georgetown sweatshirt. I overheard them vehemently objecting to how the endgame was officiated. I proceeded to chant “safety school” as I walked away. Hubris of youth.

Good event. Please use tents next year!
Everyone was available. Got to chat with Coach Cooley, Rich Chvotkin, Walt Corbean (DBO), and some of the players. The vibe was very welcoming.
I think the mood was tempered yet optimistic for the upcoming season. There was a seriousness among the staff and players that portrayed a sense of focus that seemed to be lacking in previous years' meet-and-greets.

The Malditas of The Philippines (not to be confused with the Matildas of Australia) have captivated the basketball-obsessed nation of 7104 islands. Though 90% of the team are foreign-born, the country has still embraced them warmly as if they were homegrown. The next match against Norway will be must-see-TV for 130 million viewers. Source re: interest in Philippines? Born and raised in the PI and so follow Philippine politics and sports closely. Nevada Hoya has been nice enough to reach out on a few occasions due to his connection to the PI.

Philippes 1 NZ 0. An historic first with the first goal by PI in the World Cup and the first win to boot. However, I have not seen Maya in the lineups. Our niece in the Philippines was very happy with the victory. Also, at EJ Obiena beating the world record holder and Olympian champ in the Pole Vault in a Diamond League meet. Here's a thought --hire Pitno and let him coach the Hoyas for 2-3 years and then retire and we can hire his son away from New Mexico and start a whole new family tree! Seriously, I have no real objection to Pitino, but I do worry about his age and would be just as happy with a younger and perhaps less accomplished coach with a strong track record for developing teams. May be surprising to some, but there are former Hoyas in the higher reaches of the UNM administration including the athletic department...

I wonder if former Providence head coach, Rick Barnes, may consider leaving football focused Knoxville and return to the familiar confines of the Big East conference.

Not “catering.” I just think that one of the unique historical characteristics of the Georgetown basketball brand is its image of empowering African American men from all backgrounds. A legacy worth preserving, I think. This should not handcuff the administration from choosing new leadership outside the family. I trust they can walk and chew gum at the same time when forging a new direction for the program. I think we all agree that we have to move on from certain aspects and personnel of the past. How has catering to "the African American community" worked out for us? Clean break from the Thompson family - hire the best people regardless of color. Don't look at things only through the prism of race. Be better than that. I would be appalled if I was from "the African American community" and it was implied that the primary qualification for getting a position at Georgetown was because of my race and not necessarily because I was the best person for the job, regardless of race. I think you can honor this legacy without necessarily hiring only African Americans in positions of leadership in our basketball program. I agree that we should be exhaustive in our search and creative in our approach when choosing our new director of basketball operations and head coach. The TAC is in existence for a reason. But it won’t have much significance for the future if we can’t establish and maintain a winning program we can all be proud of.

Having Kevin Nickelberry take over as head coach now should not tarnish our image as a program with strong ties to the African American community. It may even be seen as a net positive given his past connection to Howard University. His ability to turn this team around is still a big question mark, though. Not sure that the administration can ignore this. There are no clear signs of progress. Whatever enthusiasm people had going into the season has now evaporated. There is no joy in Georgetown basketball anymore. We have become the deflated ball.

No shame in packing it in mid-season. Big John did so in Jan 1999.
