Hugely disappointing loss. More than anything, I'm mad this is the way we ended the season-it doesn't feel like we got beat, so much as the officials kept them in the game until they started hitting shots. I know, that's unfair to Davidson, but that's the way it feels. Key moment: Curry fouls Wright (uncalled), travels (uncalled), then hits a 3 to go up 5. That's the game in a microcosm for me.
Thanks to Tyler, PE2, Roy, and JWall for some great years on the Hilltop. My faith in the basketball program that was broken by the home loss to Pitt in '97 was restored on your watch, and that will outlast this loss.

The DaJuan Summers no-show has become such a tired act. +1 The sooner we get that this is The Real DaJuan Summers in our head, the better off we'll be. Unfortunately.

Ok, it's about time for the Hoyas to start one of their patented "shut out the opponent for 4:45" streaks.

I think Billy Packer is trying to make up for years of "Billy Packer hates non-power conference teams" in this game alone. Does he always love Davidson this much?
Also, can you guys please stop turning the ball over, please? It's really starting to annoy me.

Who is this guy wearing #1, and what did he do with the Vernon Macklin we've seen all year?

7 of 8 on the picks. Darn Golden Eagles, could've easily been 8 of 8 if McNeal could hit a short jumper when it counted.

Wow, they EJECTED Stanford's coach. Talk about refs taking over a game, jeez, this is the NCAA tournament. He should need to hit a ref over the head with a chair, Stone Cold Steve Austin style to get an ejection. How dare you wish ill on Curtis Shaw! Everyone loves him! (Yes, it was Shaw that tossed Johnson.)

Nice piece of work, SF, I'm impressed. You, not me, should have been the one to take over from CO.
I'll see if I can't run the numbers on fouls after offensive rebounds, at least for the losses and a couple of the wins, just to see what they look like. I suspect this correlation isn't as strong as it would seem, much like "turnovers lead to points," but I wouldn't deny defensive rebounding will be a key factor.
One broader point: it seems like good offensive teams hold up better against good defensive teams than vice versa. Kansas is a good example of this-the B12 was short on elite offense (top 30) offenses this year, and when the Jayhawks faced those teams an otherwise elite defense didn't do great (best single game performance: 102.5). In OOC, the Jayhawks did hold top 30 offenses Georgia Tech and Arizona to under that total, but I'm discounting games in November and December. Now, the Jayhawks still have a great offense the Hoyas will have to defend against, but the Hoyas will probably be able to score against them.
