Hoyas go to defending national champs and #1 Notre Dame, take a 4th quarter lead thanks to two "major" penalties by the Irish, lose the lead in the final minute, deny the Irish a chance to win in regulation, lose the opening faceoff of OT, deny the Irish that chance, and then win it, 11-10. First win over #1 since taking down Duke in 2008. Hoya Saxa.

Gutted for the guys. It wasn't perfect, by any means, but we got the 3s falling early to put us out front and we responded when challenged-I thought it might have just been over with 9 minutes to play when X took the lead at 69-66 off the 13-2 run, but they responded well and battled to the end in a hostile environment. Just one more play and they would have had the win.

Based on the list on the MLS site, Trevor Burns and Marlon Tabora were both also eligible but were not selected. Congrats to the six selectees, and best wishes to all eight of them as they pursue the rest of their soccer career, whether that's on the Hilltop (if that's still an option) or elsewhere.

New rule: each team gets 1 actual timeout per half, and any other stoppages result in immediate inbounds. The last 1:00 of gametime took over 12:30 to play because each team had 2 timeouts left. I don't know what it was like in the arena, but the continual extended stoppages suck all the life out of my viewing experience.
I liked seeing Cooley pull out the "mesh" inbounds at the end.

Out of time, Dukes win 1-0. Another Hoya season ends on Shaw Field.

17 minutes to play, still down 1-0. Time's getting tight, gentlemen.

Dukes get a penalty (deserved) and go up 1-0 with 6 minutes to play in the first half. Hoyas have had the better overall opportunities, but haven't found the right sequence of plays to score yet.

I wasn't really a fan or seriously watching basketball in 1987, so no thoughts on Reggie. But Otto's 9-game stretch was as good as we'll ever see. He combined All-American defense with National Player of the Year-level offensive efficiency and usage. The last two games (SUcks in the BET and FGCU) were a disappointment, but we shouldn't let that diminish just how good he was for that run (and Jeff didn't go out on the best note against Ohio State either). The Big East was also better in 2013 than it was in 2007.

No joy on the corner kick in the last half minute, 2-1 F/T. Congrats to St. Louis on a well-played game. Good shape and their pace gave us problems. That second goal coming when it did (61') was the real killer.
Disappointing end, but another overall quality season. Undefeated in the Big East, regular season co-champs, and tournament champions, plus an NCAA win.

Billikens get the opener in the first minute of the second half, with a cross from their right finds an attacker before Augur can get there. Hoyas have 32' left to find an equalizer.

45 minutes, no goals. Shots are 6(4)-2(0) in favor of the Billikens. The only shot to beat a keeper came when Maja Lardner buried a rebound in 35'. Sadly, she was (correctly, it appeared) ruled offside on the play.

That's definitely ... one way to describe getting outshot 16-0 in the second half.

Round 1: X scores, Buck saved. X up 1-0. Round 2: X scores, Dillow scores. X up 2-1. Round 3: X scores, Linhares scores. X up 3-2. Round 4: Schewe saves, Murrell scores. Tied 3-3. Round 5: X scores, Mabie scores. Tied 4-4. On to sudden death.
Round 6: X scores, Burns saved. Xavier wins 5-4.
Not sure what this will do to Hoyas RPI, but hoping we still get a #1 seed.

110 minutes no goals. Spot kicks will decide the 2023 Big East championship.

90 minutes of soccer, no goals. Like yesterday's women's game, time for two 10-minute halves.

Scoreless at the half. Hoyas have had the field position advantage, but the balls in the box haven't found a player in position to shoot. Xavier has had a couple chances of their own, with one header over the top after a corner and another header across the box saved by Schewe.

2-1 FT (AET). On to State College and the #6 seed St. Louis in the next round.
