UNC losing to MD and Tennessee losing to Kentucky highlight the difficulties of playing in a major conference against the teams you are supposed to beat. Cuse, Pitt, WVU all will get up for our game since we are the highly ranked squad. these types of predictions and articles are senseless until we get into late February. They might be senseless but they are why espn (and to some extent si with their stupid lists) have been so successful. They pay some schlub to throw together a hastily researched and sometimes factually incorrect article and people read it, discuss it on a message board, tune in to watch shows about it, etc etc.

As JTIII and Carril have said many times, the offense we run at Georgetown is not the same as the one Carril or JTIII ran at Princeton. It's been substantially updated, partly because JTIII has more natural talent to work with at Georgetown but also because JTIII just adds his own wrinkles to it. Pete Carril designed an offense for smart, team-oriented players, not necessarily unathletic players (although that's what he usually ended up with at Princeton). Adding athleticism to the mix opens up new possibilities, which JTIII takes full advantage of. I'm sure Carril would have done the same had he had a guy like Patrick Ewing on his team. I agree. While JTIII might not have substantially altered the landscape of the game (I mean the forward pass much a much greater accomplishment ;D), he has--correct me if I'm wrong--been the first to install Carril's "system" at a prominent, high-major program with a storied history. The college basketball landscape sees very very few truly innovative changes. A small adaptation (or adoption in this case) can and does go a long way. In fact, really all we're doing in this thread is trying to discredit "innovative" coaches. It's not like we're readily offering tons of new replacements for the non-innovative coaches were want deposed.

Yeah. Chris managed to go to a private high school for 4 years as well, as well as travel to AAU tournaments and camps all over the country. Now he's just paying for food maybe? I'm thinking somebody, somewhere in the Wright family can afford to get him a nice suit or two. Maybe he has really nice Aunts and Uncles and he got good stuff for his bday. lol. Is anyone else at least marginally uncomfortable discussing a) the specifics of an 18 year old male's closet and b) the specifics of how he obtained said clothing??

This is the biggest game of the year--for players and fans alike. We all need to step it up for this game because it requires 100% effort and focus. I watched the video and will do so again just before tip off to really get into beast mode.

I hate the excuse of "he's just unselfish" because I don't think he's averaging 10 assists per game either. Glad to have him signed as a Hoya, but based on this and his televised games he obviously needs to improve before making any serious impact. He's probably not going to be Austin Freeman, who has been just outstanding for a freshman. Last year--and even last summer--the same was said about Freeman (that he looks 'disinterested' at times). That worked out pretty well. I believe Monroe when he says "being surrounded by double- and triple-teams, the best play for me is usually a pass, setting my teammates up for easy buckets. What's most important is winning. And our best chance to win usually comes if I pass." You're going to chalk that up to his great PR guy? Even if you're right and he 'only' scores 10 and gets 5 assists, that still accounts for 20 of his team's ~50 or 60 points. Add in the fact that his teammates probably shoot maybe 40% (and thus miss 60% of shots off a Monroe pass) and his impact on the game doesn't look quite so 'disinterested.'

"The universities also cannot analyze the economic diversity of their applicants until after February, when students apply for financial aid. " For those who disagree, I have a rock that protects against lion attacks. Contact me if you'd like to buy it. 1. While universities technically might not be able to truly analyze the economic diversity of their students till February, there are certainly plenty of proxies that can be used on the application. If you saw an application from Tucker Q. Witherspoon III, a squash enthusiast from an east coast boarding school, you might draw some conclusions based on that, right? Not to get too off track, but the same goes for ethnicity questions (or a lack thereof) on applications. 2. No need for your rock. My wallet also apparently protects against lion attacks as I've never been attacked while carrying it.

At the McD box office, Monday-Friday 1:00-5:30. remember, it's a "game-by-game" basis, so you only get passes for games in the immediate future (this week you get two, for ND and Cuse). Is one or two at a time really the best way to distribute $15 worth of metro cards? At some point doesn't the volunteers' (and the ticket holders') time become more valuable than ensuring people don't "scam the system" by getting a nominal number of free metro rides that they end up not using?? Can anyone elucidate the rationale for this kind of distribution?

The cut off is less than 30% of games, but I remember having this conversation about somebody in recent years, and if I'm not mistaken postseason games do not count towards the game total...so I think it's too late for Wright to get a med red. Would Wright even be a candidate for redshirting if he hadn't reached the 30% cutoff?? Somehow I can't see players of his caliber sticking around college for 5 years (even if it is Georgetown ;D)

Lineup-wise, I doubt Coach will change the starting five, but if he were to, this is the lineup I'd like to see: Hibbs Vern Summers Freeman Wallace Off the bench: Ewing Sapp/Rivers Crawford Wattad I like the lineup, but does ND do much in the way of pressing/pressuring? Wallace & Freeman are fantastic at a lot of things, but I don't know if that list necessarily includes breaking a press.

Betting lines, covering, and ATS are not "issues that remain illegal in 49 states. BETTING is illegal in 49 states. Discussing it is legal in all 50. USA Today publishes lines. ESPN has entire segments and columns dedicated to lines. Just because people are discussing doesn't mean that people are betting. There is a huge difference between the two.

I am actually offended by this. You are seriously suggesting that RBB did something wrong by walking away from a situation like that? Are you new to this planet? what do you think zo, pat, ralph, deke, jahidi, or even wesley would have done if this occured to them? What is your point? Are you honestly saying you are disappointed that a former Georgetown player didn't get in a fight over an absurdly stupid incident in a practice? Please don't come onto a Georgetown board and advocate for our players, current or former, to stoop to the level of clowns like Wallace & Wells.

It takes three posts for specific threads on lines to move into traffic on questions about whether someone is throwing things. Why do we need a spearate thread on the line for a specific game? Look, the overwhelmingly vast majority of the public are only interested in lines because it's interesting to know what alleged experts think about an upcoming game. Good point about not needing pesky new threads to separate items for discussion. Let's just use a single thread because really everything discussed here could be in a single thread "Universe/Life/Humanity."

Ahhhhhh....those pesky short 3 week breaks from a grueling life of going to class, drinking 4 or 5 nights a week and occasionally taking a test. One day young man, one day sooner than you know, you won't believe how long a 3 week break is or how rare they are. Enjoy my man. Because you will soon call 4 day weekends long breaks soon enough. And unless you have one of those new fangled horseless carriages, you will probably have to walk uphill both ways to get to/from your breaks too!

My first couple years the spring semester began the Wednesday before MLK Day (observed). It was always ridiculous that I might have to attend 2-3 classes before a 3-day weekend, much like the fall semester starting the Wednesday before Labor Day. What's bad about this?? I enjoy spending time at home as much as the next guy, but what's not to like about having 2-3 days of classes and then a 3 day weekend?

I can't stomach a ten page article about Fav-re, but the first five pages of the SI article reads like a lifetime achievement award. I understand the 'resurgent' Packers are 10-2, but come on...

Yeah I don't understand mocking one of our own, especially when he did nothing but work hard and put up great numbers on horribly coached Hoya teams. Why is it ok to mock one of our own who devoted a fair chunk of his athletic career and then his professional life to Georgetown whereas it is entirely inappropriate to mock someone who played for that man? If you're going to blindly support one Hoya, you probably shouldn't knock another Hoya in the same sentence.

this was way more than just a burglary. it will be interesting to see what the investigation uncovers. Why even say the second part of that if you're already convinced of the first?
