That was BS call to make with .1 seconds left in the game at 70 feet away from the basket. Point blank... The best thing to do in that situation is not blow your whistle at all and let the game be decided in overtime. I'm glad we got the W but anyone who feel like that call should have been made in those circumstance is viewing it with Gray and Blue colored glasses. So the ref should ignore Wallace stepping out of bounds too? You don't think Nova fans would be up in arms about that non-call?

Wallace's accidental elbow to Reynolds Reynolds looked like a European footballer on that play... writhing in pain on the floor until he heard the foul called then making a miraculous recovery in time to keep playing. He must have the heart of a warrior!

No, they should have ignored the foul and ignored the out of bounds and let the game go to OT. Last year in the Vandy game, Jeff did travel when he shuffled his feet but the no call was correct because the shuffle of the feet was due to a forearm in the back. At that point in the game, the correct call is let both infractions go as they were both minor and really gave neither side an advantage. The ref should have done the same tonight. "Ignored the out of bounds"? Go back and watch it again, Wallace's left foot stepped on the sideline before the ref blew his whistle. So you're advocating that the ref should ignore not only judgment calls but also clear as day non-judgment calls? A no call there is just as bad--if not worse--from an officiating stand point.

You know, no one should be shocked when the 48th foul called in a game is "questionable." The first 47 should have tipped you off that something isn't right. Why did Stokes put himself in a position where a foul could even POSSIBLY be called? The game has been called tight at times, there is 1 second left on the clock and you feel it necessary to try to pick up a charge 70 feet from the basket? ? From one angle it looks like a foul--from the others it really doesn't--but you've got to be kidding me that you put yourself in a position where your actions look like a foul from ANY angle. I guess I don't have a lot of sympathy for a Nova team that got a lot of calls (including a Reynolds lean in after two earlier attempts failed) when one goes against them.

I guess I don't have any idea what "spread" means.
I was under the impression that a high defensive efficiency was good... right? If so, why would a metric that predicts success be based on a statistic that rewards inefficient defense?

This year, Georgetown has 6,500 non-student season ticket holders. In an 8,000-seat arena, you're squeezing out at least 5,500 of them, engaging in a bidding war, and thus, likely eliminating all of the positives that have come out of the development of Young Alumni season ticketing over the last three years. It is pretty likely that ticket holders would earn their right to buy tickets through increased donations rather than victories in Hoya fan-offs... if people want to criticize Verizon's atmosphere this year, wait until the young alumn sections get taken away.

Also, if you read the comments by readers (which run the gamut from intelligent responses to ad hominem attacks on Prof. Lance), you'll find Prof. Lance's own comments mixed in responding to the reader responses. Prof. Lance's tone is very, very juvenile. I completely agree. When I read the article, I presumed that Lance was knowingly exagerating some claims in an effort to sex up the debate. I was borderline appaled when he responded to a comment by making fun of a girl who ended her comment with "Period." The saddest thing about Lance is that is exactly the kind of rebuke I would expect from a kid who sits in the front row of class and looks down at those who don't (the "SFS All Star" type), and certainly not something I would expect from someone whose job it is to educate others.

I just don't understand why identity theft is such a big deal. How do you know that there's anyone out there who wants to be you? Wow. I assume you're serious, so this is a serious answer. That would be a terrible way to go through life.

Lets hope that Chuck Norris jokes don't turn into Bill Belichick jokes I think you're referring to Bill Brasky "jokes"... even though they're not jokes but simple statements of fact. Little known fact about Belichick: he breastfeeds John Madden.

I love it how people try to call out the student sections for not being n sync on their cheers. It's as if we've hired two massive cohorts of cheerleaders that are expected to create a fantastic home court environment for the rest of us and we've exhausted every possible method for coordinating cheers between two sides of the arena.
I've got a crazy idea though--what if, god forbid, people between the baskets (looking your way non-young alumn sections) would join in the cheers?? I would hate to have to ask too much of you all, but trust me, the games are so much more fun if you do things other than scroll through your blackberry while eating $9 chicken finger baskets after arriving 15 minutes after the tip.

I'm type of fan who focuses on the next game--always have/always will. I think the next 9 games are going to be a bit more competitive then most think How can you have an opinion on the next nine games if you are only focused on South Florida?

In the "I have too much time on my hands" department, Pomeroy's model has the Big East going 73-69 in remaining conference games - who's says stats don't lie? With a conference record above .500 how can the Big East not be considered the best conference in the land?

The worst Super Bowl in history for the first 55 minutes. One of the best ever for the last 5. Are you out of your mind? Did you watch any of the super bowls in the mid 90s? Ohhh, if only Steve Young were here to throw six touchdowns against the vaunted Chargers defense again. Those were the real glory days. That was a very good game of football with a fantastic finish.

We won't bench him. That's obvious to anyone who's watched this team the last four years, intriguing as a Sapp, Freeman, Summers, Ewing, Hibbert line-up may be. Of course he shouldn't stop shooting, if he did that, what would his purpose be on the court? He's not as good a defender as Rivers, he doesn't pass as well as Sapp, he doesn't finish like Austin. He's our best SHOOTER. The problem is that he's not making shots. Hopefully we can blow out USF and he can try to work it out, as I'd hoped that he would during the SJU game. If you think the only thing Wallace brings to the court is a shot, you must be watching a different team than I am.
