It would be somewhat amusing to see Colorado return to the Big 12. Which schools have left a conference and then returned? Here's a few: Connecticut (Big East) Davidson (Southern, then eventually left for A10) VMI (Southern) Pacific (West Coast) UC-Santa Barbara (Big West) UAB (Conference USA football) East Tennessee (Southern football) Thanks for that interesting list. I'm not sure how I forgot about UConn, but that's not for all sports, is it?

A great American Independence Day to all, but especially to the people of Highland Park, Illinois. If all the people in the parade had only been armed with assault rifles, maybe this wouldn't have been quite so bad.

Georgetown men’s basketball APR for 2020-21 was recently shown to be 860, an alarmingly low number compared to other Georgetown University athletic programs, and across all NCAA Division 1 men’s basketball programs as a whole. How bad is that 860 number? Here is some context. Georgetown men’s basketball has the lowest APR out of all listed men’s sports at Georgetown. The next closest is men’s baseball, at 931. Come on, this was on the front page TWO WEEKS AGO. Just because it is posted by Aidan today does not suddenly make it news. www.hoyasaxa.com/sports/archives/archive0622.htm#3This may now be old news, and in fact I commented about it the day the story appeared on the front page, but to me, this can't be emphasized enough. It's a monumental embarrassment.

Yes, Hometown, I understand that, but "inaction by both sides" was not the alternative that was offered up. Inaction by both sides is nothing more than a repeat of what we saw after this season. That's far different from the coach insisting on remaining the head coach. Hey, you can't fire me, I'm Patrick Ewing, and I have the inalienable right to remain head coach for the term of my contract. This Supreme Court might find a way to support that position, but I don't know about anyone else. That's a strawman argument. My original post was that the program has 3 paths forward as far as our head coach goes: the admin fires him, he walks away, or he stays through the end of his contract. I understand that my usage of "insist" is throwing you off but that was to acknowledge that there will be tons of external pressure for action if Pat doesn't flip the script. My original point is that Pat is getting his money whether he's fired, fulfills his contract, or negotiates an exit which was in response to 9797 saying that Patrick would not leave without getting every penny. Eh, I don't think so. I didn't raise a straw man, I just took what you wrote at face value. You're the one who is moving the goal posts. But that's ok, because I agree with your new formulation. I think inaction, however you want to characterize it, is a decent possibility, and not a good one.

Tell that to Payton Watson I hope both of them turn out to be perennial All-NBA selections. I was merely expressing my opinion that Aminu would have been better served to spend another year at Georgetown developing his skills, and hopefully getting the success at this level that would set him up for the professional ranks. I feel bad for him that he won't be with the Hoyas cutting down nets next year. That's all Cutting down nets? That might be a bit of a stretch. Not likely that the guys who ARE Hoyas this year will be cutting down nets. Of course, that didn't figure in 2021 either, so I guess anything is possible. I guess.

This guy is an idiot. For all the Lu Dort's, there are literally thousands of kids who left early, went to G league or other comp, and didn't ever sniff the league. The clearest path to a big contract is to get drafted in the first round. Do Draymond Green's exist? Of course, but he was a four year player who proved himself in the big ten and then slipped to the 2nd round. Do undrafted guys like Dort or VanVleet happen? Sure, but that is a really tough way to go. Here is one article on five undrafted from this year: nba.nbcsports.com/2022/06/24/five-undrafted-players-from-2022-nba-draft-worth-watching/Aminu isn't on it. Doesn't mean he can't get it done, it just means he has an extremely high hill to climb. If I am a handler, my kid is going to the most prestigious university first, he is only leaving if he is a first round lock, and if he isn't a lock, he is staying three years to get close to that degree with a commitment from the school to pay for his fourth year whenever it fits his schedule. Duke, Michigan, UVA, Harvard, Stanford, Vandy, Gtown, Nwestern, all fit that model. I just don't get it. Will you be my handler? I have some strikes against me, but I like your plan.

Pardon me, but how exactly can he insist on remaining the head coach for the duration of the contract? I've never heard of any head coaching contract that works that way. If the admin doesnt fire him and he doesn't walk away despite urging from various parties, then he would remain head coach for the duration of his contract. Yes, Hometown, I understand that, but "inaction by both sides" was not the alternative that was offered up. Inaction by both sides is nothing more than a repeat of what we saw after this season. As someone who has followed the Pac 12 and its earlier iterations going all the way back to the Pacific Coast Conference, and being a Bruin fan all that time, I find this news shocking and depressing.
And by the way, Bill Walton didn't invent that Conference of Champions stuff. They happen to have that moniker because the Pac 12 schools have won more college national championships than any other conference. Of course, it's not just football and basketball. I believe Stanford and UCLA are currently 1-2.

Well of course, she did. I have to wonder, though, whether the two election deniers drew more than half of the Republican vote.

There is zero chance he leaving voluntarily without getting paid every penny. He’s entitled to that because that’s a deal they agreed to but pretend like he would leave money on the table for the good of the team or university is nonsense. What did GU do with the contracts of the past two fired coaches (who had recently signed extensions). Weren't both paid in full? Pat is getting his money either way. At this point the hypothetical is if he'd step away after another dismal performance, if the admin would fire him before the end of his contract (and he'd get the money), or if he'd insist on being the HC as long as his contract is active. Pardon me, but how exactly can he insist on remaining the head coach for the duration of the contract? I've never heard of any head coaching contract that works that way.

Check the "starting 5" thread or the "current state of the program" thread where there has been plenty of posts about the coach. Feel free to post your optimism about the upcoming season however don't get mad if other folks question whether your views are possible.. Etomic I don't care if people believe my views are possible. I'm always taking the over so most years (Hoyas, Commanders, Pistons, Cubs) I'm going to be wrong. I'm good. Wow, that's quite a group of clubs. Where are the Sabres?

Wasn’t it Bill Parcells who said “you are what your record says you are”? If that is true, what is Ewing? Cue up the turntable. I'm a loooooooser. I've lost someone that's dear to me I'm a loooooooser. And I'm not what I appear to be.

"They are not there to harm me." This is the effing leader of the MAGA GOP. And how pathetic is that WH Counsel and POS McCarthy had to go through a 23-year old assistant to Meadows to communicate. Throwing plates against the wall?? Come on HoyaTalk " Republicans" - still in your effing cult??? A true that's not spaghetti, that's linguine moment.

Honestly I think playing Northwestern in the Gavitt Games is kind of cool. Academically minded institution, competes for the same students that we do, traditionally terrible at basketball but honestly they're about on par with how we've done the past 5-7 years. Better than Nebraska or Minnesota, and at least we have one more home conference foe in addition to South Carolina that students have heard of. I don't mind it, and the early season schedule at this point gives us enough challenges while providing a whole new roster time to gel. I wish my dad (Northwestern '38) were around to see this.
