hoopshd.com/2020/05/02/2020-draft-preview-hoopshd-interviews-georgetown-prospect-mac-mcclung/In 2017 you decommitted from Rutgers and signed with Georgetown: what made you choose the Hoyas? Coach Patrick Ewing and the opportunity that Georgetown provided me. I liked the campus/people as well as Coach Ewing’s vision/winning attitude. What makes Ewing such a good coach, and what is the most important thing that you have learned from him? He is never satisfied and neither am I. If we get back to campus from a big game and I put up 30 PTS he will still show up at practice the next day demanding more out of me as if I had gone scoreless the night before.

McClung is pending? You forgot about our recent grad transfers Bile and J Harris. I was responding to a message from March 2nd with an update on Silas Mason.

Who wants to look like LeBron when they can look like Patrick Ewing!

The players and recruits really like the tidal blue uniforms. Tidal blue...Is that the same as teal? That's correct, these ones:

If you would like. Personally, I would keep just the blue and gray uniforms. Maybe an occasional black? The players and recruits really like the tidal blue uniforms.

Lots of stuff happening w/ the 2020 class still... Where are we right now? PG - Beard/Harris SG - McClung SF - Blair/Clark PF - Pickett/Sibley C - Wahab/Igohoefe/Wilson 3 spots open (assuming Omer is gone). Best guesses on starters. Some can obviously play multiple positions. Offered & made cut list: Jermontae Hill - (3* SF, top 8), Karim Mane - (4/5* CG, top 10) Offered & ?: Kerwin Walton - (4* SG), Darius Miles - (4* SF), Seryee Lewis - (3* SF/PF) Old (expired?) offers: Noah Farrakhan, Naseem Khaalid, Silas Mason, Mayoum Mayoum, Ladera Obang, Abou Ousmane, Jahmyl Telfort Interest but no public offer: Brandon Murray - (NR SG), Akeem Odusipe - (3* PF) Other options: Frankie Collins - 4* PG - (class of 2021, but considering re-classify, visiting GU this weekend) Efton Reid - 5* PF/C - (class of 2021, but considering re-classify) Moussa Cisse - 5* PF/C - (class of 2021, but considering re-classify) Kahlil Whitney - Kentucky transfer (initial discussion about GU has cooled, under reg xfer rule would sit out '20-'21) Grad Transfer options/hopefuls (incl. Seth Towns - PF, Mike Smith - PG, Patrick Tape - PF, Brendan Barry - PG) I'm sure there are mistakes and/or omissions.

scoopmantv.com/2020/05/02/blakes-stock-continues-to-increase/Georgetown, who offered him on April 28th, gives Blakes another amazing opportunity to pursue academics, as well as, a future in basketball. “It is a well respected academic school and they play in the very competitive Big East,” Blakes said. “Coach Patrick Ewing has a deep understanding of the game given his professional playing and NBA coaching experience. I have enjoyed my conversations with members of the coaching staff. They love my game and I look forward to learning more during the recruiting process.”

I wonder if Goodman's source was this article from yesterday: hoopshabit.com/2020/04/30/nba-draft-uncertainty-mac-mcclung/Appears to be a new article, I could be wrong... “It’s been over six years since Georgetown last had a player selected in the NBA Draft, Otto Porter Jr in 2013, and it’s something McClung thinks about as he weighs all of his options. “Coach and I talk a lot about my goals, and it’d be amazing if I was the first since Otto to get drafted. Georgetown has put so many guys in the league and it’d mean a lot to me to be the next one.”” Or from this Overtime Interview on March 30th. Or from Mac's own Twitter post this afternoon.

Which part of that is different than "he chose prep school over Georgetown"? The argument that people were putting forth was that he didn't have that choice, that the coaching staff turned their noses up on him for some reason and that we didn't have an offer on the table, and I don't think that is true. They made arguments that we wanted someone for next year, and looking at the sit 1-play 1 kids that we're getting involved with right now, I don't think that was ever true. I think what he's doing makes a ton of sense when the smart move is to delay college for a year in this environment (https://www.vox.com/the-goods/2020/4/23/21231195/coronavirus-high-school-seniors-college-decision). The difference is that you're clearly phrasing it to put Georgetown in a negative light. He didn't choose prep school over Georgetown, he chose to delay his college decision, just like the students in your article.

Good to see we're coming around to the idea that this kid chose prep school over Georgetown. I guess you didn't read the full text of the article. He makes it pretty clear that because he couldn't take any visits he decided to delay is college decision.
