Outstanding defensive game for the Hoyas. One of the keys to winning this one is that Wallace got us off to a good 2nd half start after we had let the lead get down to 11. As the announcers said: Wallace scored 8 points in 3 possessions to start the 2nd half. Announcers also said something like "those people who picked Georgetown as 8th in the nation were right and those who are giving them meager support now are wrong". Great win!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. The key to the game was, easyed gal-pal, Nancy Pelosi being shown on the jumbotron - we went on a 7-0 run after that - no doubt inspired by Pelosi's determination to put America back on the right track after 12 years of misrule. I'm going to assume that said "7-0 run" is about as factual as your "Bob Knight passing Adolph Rupp for most wins" and "JT3 is undefeated against tieless coaches" threads were.

That was the best five minutes I have ever seen us play. The intensity dropped off a ton, but a great start to the second was huge. I have never left a game feeling so good. I hope we keep it up against Nova. Ewing, Crawford, et all really made the Ege loss seem like a total non-issue.

My WAG shirt is a couple years old. I'm not worried about it's being tainted. In other news, we just found out the best way to ruin a post-victory celebration thread....politics! Leave the politics in the proper forums, please.

I also enjoyed PE2 whipping the ball at Harangody as PE2 was going out of bounds. I think he has a better arm than Brady Quinn As great as the Hoyas played on the defensive (best D I've seen from them in a long time) and offensive ends, PEJr's ripping of the ball away from Harangody on the baseline (the force of which threw the Domer to the floor) and then throwing it off the fallen Harangody to save possession was the play of the game for me!!! It was reminiscent of the old school Hoya defense of the 80s and exactly what this team needs to make it to the next level (RDF chime in here and agree with me!)... PS: III may be my homeboy but Nancy Pelosi with a WAG shirt is definitely my homegal!! You know I looked at the game on my DVR this afternoon, and PEJr. is actually beyond the three point line when that shot is taken, which makes it an even better hustle play. My favorite part of the game is when JTIII put Pelosi in with 4 minutes to go and she promptly scored 6 straight points in the post against Luke Harangody.

[/quote] I'm not RDF but I remember thinking the same thing. That edge might be the greatest asset Ewing will bring to this team. There were several stretches when the Hoyas seemed to get every loose ball and immediately look to ram it down ND's throat. That killer instinct is what characterized those magnificent, intimidating 80's teams.

Swarming to the loose balls and owning them is Georgetown basketball--with Sapp, PE JR, Wallace, we have guys who will sell their bodies out and dive on court for a ball or scrap and fight. That is what was missing around here for a long time--way too long to be honest. Not just a player either--team getting after it.
To me Georgetown basketball at it's best is when you KNOW that anything on ground or loose/up for grabs is OURS. That is when we're seeing the style of ball that makes Hoyas take game to another level.
Loved seeing the emotion from Jeff as well--that is something I didn't think we'd see and it was awesome and got the place rocking!

Watching the game again on DVR and I think my favorite moment was the inside dish from Summers to Roy for the lay in. As Roy is running back on defense, he's just laughing and looking for someone to high five. I love that Hoya Hoops is fun again!

Roy got some serious elevation on several plays at the game. Would love to see more Air Roy ... when he actually jumps instead of just putting his hands up he is several feet above everyone else.

Getting to the loose balls was something I harped on after the Duke game. That is, there were several times when our guys could have dove on the floor and sacrificed their bodies for the ball, but chose not and watched Duke do it instead. We've done a much better job of doing this lately, and the extra 2-3 possessions we're gaining a game because of it will be critical down the line when we start playing better competition.

great game by the team. too many to's again , but with defense like that it really didn't matter. i attribute some to's too being too fancy with some lob passes by sapp & rivers.

I think someone posted upthread that she was the recipient of an honorary GU degree in 2002. Don't know about the rest.
