PE Jr has stepped up!!! Those two rebounds in the second half were what finally broke the spirit of the Irish, didn't take long to fill in Egerson's role

Key to the game: ND shoots 4 for 23 (.174) for the game. 3 point defense was a big concern for us against this team coming into the game, and I think we proved we can be fine against good 3 point shooting teams.
Jeff and Roy... 33 pts on 14 of 20 shooting from the field, and the ND frontline spent the entire game in massive foul trouble. There's no reason this can't happen every game.
Students, please get back to the Hilltop by Monday night. We will need you on BIG MONDAY!

A very good effort by all, on both ends.

only listened sporadically but the defense sounded very good. I love that we held them under 50 pts. Was the perimeter defense good, or were they just not falling for ND? Either way sounds like we rebounded well and didn't give them a lot of second chances. Defense was excellent the entire game, except for a few lapses. Great switching, great closing out on the perimeter shooters, outstanding defensive rebounding. One of the better full game Hoya defensive efforts in a long time, especially in the half court.

Even someone just looking at the box score would be able to tell we played GREAT defense today.

Those predicting that defense would be to key to victory turned out to be spot on, IMO. The Hoyas smothered ND early, challenged shots, and took them out of their game.
I haven't seen the team play much this season and was impressed with how well they ran the floor.
Also, the inside-outside attack was lethal. Wallace is a killer.

Outstanding defensive game for the Hoyas. One of the keys to winning this one is that Wallace got us off to a good 2nd half start after we had let the lead get down to 11. As the announcers said: Wallace scored 8 points in 3 possessions to start the 2nd half. Announcers also said something like "those people who picked Georgetown as 8th in the nation were right and those who are giving them meager support now are wrong".
Great win!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Very impressive play today. I agree that the key was our defensive. If we can get after every game like we did today, we will always have a chance to win. It doesn't hurt that we shot the three as well as we did. Definately a plus to open up the inside game. Green looked very good as usually and Wallace put in another solid performance. Hibbert is going to be tough to stop if they don't double. Only concern for me was how sloppy Sapp and Rivers look at handling the ball. Would almost be better if had green handle the ball when Wallace is out IMO.

Either way sounds like we rebounded well and didn't give them a lot of second chances. we extended our perimeter defense and often had a hand in their face. but the open 3s they did have didnt fall either. their only real flurry came at the end of the 1st half. great defensive strategy by the coaches and execution by the players.

Yeah, I don't think Falls and co. will usually miss as many open threes. Then again, there weren't that many that were open because we really did a good job of getting in their faces and contesting shots today.
Some sloppy play for a bit, with turnovers, etc., but this game was never seriously in doubt, so I can't blame them for a bit of loose play. An all-around awesome game, with JG holding court in the first half and Roy holding court in the second, with some help from JW in the beginning. Great game.

That was fantastic. I'll take a win like that any day. PEJr. playing for Dad? Love that Ewing rebounded for the kiddie dunk shots at halftime. And an appearance by Nancy Pelosi. Sweet.

Aside from the obvious ... the best part about the game today? The non-students in the crowd really had a high energy level. I know the fast start helped, but I really thought we'd get mauled by all the leprachaun lovers (or Lepra-con's in McAlarney's case). Good statement by the DC fans that this is our house even when school isn't in session (though arguably Jeff, Roy and co. were teaching many a lesson at Verizon today).
P.S. I hope Pelosi's pick in the college hoops realm pans out far better than her picks in the world of politics.

Awesome game. For those that didn't see it, this was the first time in III's reign that we saw Jr.'s style of defense. Notre Dame was caught by surprise and destroyed early as we pressured them to death.
Also loved how in the second half we went to Roy and didn't force trying to duplicate the first half. Fantastic.
Also, that sequence -- Jeff with a block, Sapp with a steal, no look for the oop -- absolutely SICK.

TWO alley-oops in the game. Nasty.
The best part was definitely the crowd. The students were good and noisy the whole game as well as the rest of the stadium. I don't think I heard a peep from ND fans, not that they had much to go on. From the YA sections to the 200's, everyone was on their feet a whole bunch of times. Awesome.

We played well today, but Notre Dame stinks. Just awful. They were definitely feasting on cupcakes to make the rankings (and their one good win over Alabama won't look so great after the pasting the Tide is taking today). This is a team that won't see the rankings again, and will probably be a bubble NCAA tourney team at best.
Having said that, we are seeing a lot of positive things from the Hoyas. We look a lot better than we did a month ago at this time, and I like that trend. We still have a lot of room for improvement, but we could be really good come Tourney Time.

It looks PEjr. is definitely getting ME minutes and the way he played today those minutes were deserved. His Defensive intensity is infectious. He doesn't have ME offensive abilities and is not the re-bounder but he brings intensity and shot blocking. This was the best perimeter defense I have seen from a GU team since the 80's. Great job by JTIII and staff.
