I also like how JTIII basically kept all the younger guys out there for so long with no aide from Green, Hibbert, or Wallace (after his cramp) in the first half. I know that Jeff had the fouls, but it also seemed that JTIII might be trying to let the other guys figure themselves out during a game. He knew that they would make mistakes and that the lead would slip, but he had confidence that we could pull it out with everyone in in the second half. The experience gained for the guys playing at the end of the first half will pay huge dividends later in the season.

Jimmy, turn on the deuce, get a glance at Gonzaga, and get ready for another year of Rick Majerus and OAF-ense.
Haven't seen a boxscore with the refs yet but one of them was Jim Burr, who the Hoyas will probably see 8-10 times this year, especially since it appears that Tim Higgins no longer works GU games.

Nice defense by mostly Luv, on Foster. Will he be the shutdown defender we never really had last year? Looking like #8 in the country, with a bullet.

Good game guys. Right now, I wonder if we are even an NIT team. Good luck the rest of the way.

Some quick thoughts... I was very impressed by the team in this game and I'm really really happy with the way they played.
First, our guards, Wallace in particular, stepped up big time in this game. To me, Wallace seemed significantly more aggressive than he has in the past...trying to take people off the dribble and such.
Second, I loved the more aggressive version of Roy in this game compared to the Hartford Game version who seemed allergic to dunking.
Overall, I think Vandy has a pretty good team and this is definitely a good win.

Foster was never a factor. Egerson had him on lockdown! Good point. I forgot to mention this. Coming into the game I was worried about our perimeter defense and we shut him down. Just another one of many good things in the game.

All in All I'm Happy. The Knicks Won & The Hoyas Won. What else could a New Yorker want this time of year...except forthe G-Men to bounce back...All in all Good Job by the Hoyas..one game at a time and work the guards into form so opponents can respect them!

very impressive win by the team. All-around the team look much improved from Saturday, and the young guys showed alot of promise. Liked seeing Roy being alot more aggressive under the basket, as well as Jeff being more assertive. J.Wallace (who gave me a bit of a scare in the first half), continues to show he is one of the most underated players around. I guess the only negatives were turnovers (gotta cut down on those) and foul trouble, which the refs calling the game tight had alot to do with.

No team that plays man d will be able to contain Jeff or Roy. They are just too good now. Zone is another matter that we will have to see.

Foster's 0 for 5, and the only took 5 shots is probably more significant than the 0-fer. That's the best defense we've seen on a high scoring small forward since Riley's shutdown of Darius Lane, how many years ago. Deny the ball to him in shooting position, great stuff. Plus, better tean rebounding than we've seen against a quality opponent.

Quick thoughts: Wallace is money for our backcourt, Sapp showed me he can handle the rock and Vandy is not a good team, I'd call them a bad team but a quality win for our hoyas nevertheless. The only negative I take away is how vulnerable we became in the first half when Jeff and Roy were out. I think there are few to no teams that wouldn't look vulnerable with their two best players on the bench. And considering that most of the guys that are backups are freshman or in the rotation for the first time, I think it will be significantly less of an issue as the year goes on. ANNNNNNDDDDDD ONNNNNEEEEE ;D Very true Tbird but.......we play a team with some real depth like UFL and we can ill afford to have Hibbs and green on the bench or we would get hammered. Say Florida loses Noah and Horford to foul trouble, they still have Taurean and Brewer out there. Granted this is the #1 team in the nation I'm referencing but they should be our measuring stick considering they kept us outta the elite 8 last year. Right?? Go Hoyas!!!!

Can't say it enough: Wallace was just about perfect tonight. I am REALLY excited about his mid-range jumper!

I was very pleased with the freshmen tonight. All seem to have been poised in a hostile environment, they may not have played perfect but they kept thier composure throughout. Our back court was as impressive as our front court. Jesse Sapp and Jon Wallace were awesome with thier ball handling and shooting. Jesse Sapp was the most impressive player on the court for me, his ball handling was that of a true point guard.
I think when Tyler Crawford returns he might be coming off the bench. Jesse and Jon play very well together.
Jeff Green and Roy Hibbert are the best front court tandem in the country.
Egerson is a big guard who can shoot and play lock down D. DaJuan Summers could be Jeff Green's little brother.
Forgive me for the long post, but I'm excited after seeing the team for the 1st time tonight. This team is only going to improve and they proved tonight that they are a top 10 team.

The energy Ewing has, and the emotion he showed on his 'And 1' in the 2nd half is something that we didnt have in last year's Vandy game. After that game last year someone made the comment that we needed a Braswell on a team of Sweetneys. In other words- someone to be loud and fired up on the floor. Ewing may be that guy. Man he has fire!

It looked as if he was testing the young guys and they passed the test so far.

Great esp. to see the frosh and Ewing contribute - his AND 1 was just awesome, good to see him getting even more pumped up this year on the court than he was last year from the bench, love his energy.

I'm fine with PEJr. being a "Braswell" just as long as he doesn't jack up three pointers from half court for three straight overtimes against Notre Dame. If not, I'm cool ...
