The silence at the Vandy court right now is amazing. I've never heard such a quiet stadium. Nice job guys!

This is definitely a statement performance - not necessarily to anyone nationally, but definitely to Coach Thompson and the fans. I don't live in DC, and to tell you the number of e-mails I got over the past four days that said, "OK, maybe we're not that good again. Look for another 7-10 seed in the tournament." Now it could still end up that way, but it doesn't have to be. We just went on the road to a mid-level SEC team (ok, maybe a little less than mid-level) that we lost to last year and handled them in their home opener after nearly squandering a double-digit first-half lead.
I think this W (and the way we did it) takes a lot of pressure off of our guys for the lackluster performance on saturday. Obviously take it one game at a time, but you have to like our chances to go into the Oregon game at 5-0, and we'll at least know that we handled a decent opponent in that stretch and can have confidence for Oregon then Duke.
Other than that, Go Commodores! May you raise our RPI from here til March 11!!!

Jeff Green: 18 pts, 8 boards, 6 assists.... near enough to a triple double... in 23 minutes of action.

That was a highly enjoyable game to listen to. Sunrise is in an hour and a half though, so I should probly go to bed...Very nice to see Egerson playing strong defense and having contirbutions from most of the team. Dominating the boards was key too. Very nice win, with KU's loss maybe we'll go up another place in the polls. Bring on ODU!

With all those fouls in the first half and an expected starter out sick, it was a great performance to stay ahead and bide time until Jeff could return in the second half. Great win.

Great great game for the most part. A lot of fouls, but that doesn't matter with such a deep rotaton, even without Tyler.
I loved seeing Macklin play well, Rivers looking solid, and Egerson playing very well. If Macklin had made that dunk I'd still be screaming like Ewing's AND OOOOOOOOOONE heard round the world.

Quick thoughts: Wallace is money for our backcourt, Sapp showed me he can handle the rock and Vandy is not a good team, I'd call them a bad team but a quality win for our hoyas nevertheless. The only negative I take away is how vulnerable we became in the first half when Jeff and Roy were out.

great win boys...got down to dc last year for the vandy loss, nice to have this win on the sched...jeff came on at the end and again, sounds great from the line..wish i coulda seen this one but happy to hear everyone scored and sounds as if only problem is the fouls but im thinking the refs were loving the fouls today. great win to have on the sched and mcdonough better be packed for the ODU game.
lastly jt3 must be getting the pads out on practice in the layup lines, because we had to have atleast 5AND1's tonight...shows the toughness and experience we got this early in the season

Fantastic fantastic fantastic game. So many positives all around there are too many to mention. Newcomers and Egerson had plenty of good plays to go with their "learning mistakes". Great that we got an early lead to settle nerves, then battled a little adversity with foul trouble and Vandy runs. This team reminds me a little of those Arkansas teams with Corliss where they had so many quality players in the frontcourt and just dominated many of the important facets of the game.

Impressive win in a tough hostile environment. Gotta love the way they kept their composure. The youngens played well too. Ticket looked real good out there!

Refs were definitely calling some ticky-tack stuff. That said, both Summers and Ewing had some bad fouls. Hibbert had a bad one at the end of the first.

I'm still at work and was not able to follow the game much, but I think that Vandy will eventually be much better than they looked tonight, if for no other reason than Shan Foster figures to average way more than 2 points per game. I'd like to know how we held him without a field goal. Nice defense by someone, I assume.

The only negative I take away is how vulnerable we became in the first half when Jeff and Roy were out. I think there are few to no teams that wouldn't look vulnerable with their two best players on the bench. And considering that most of the guys that are backups are freshman or in the rotation for the first time, I think it will be significantly less of an issue as the year goes on. ANNNNNNDDDDDD ONNNNNEEEEE ;D

Interestingly, our tempo was way up for the game. 86 points and it is not like we were making every shot we took. Also good to see Jeff hitting his free throws.

Foster was never a factor. Egerson had him on lockdown!
