The 2006-07 pre-season prospectus from the Sports Information office is now online and linked on the front page, including the jersey assignments for the newcomers. And for the first time in ten years, someone will wear #33. www.hoyasaxa.com/sports/bball.htm#news

Ewing, 6'10? Not even close. Although he is listed at 6'8 in the write up at the start of the prospectus - while Egerson is listed at 6'9. Yikes.

wow that's so awesome that Ewing is wearing his father's number. How cools would it to be to have both Ewing jerseys hanging next to eachother.

What point do they achieve by exaggerating like that? Everyone seems to do it, but why?

Hmmm...if Summers is #3, and Macklin is wearing #1, that eliminates my two top choices for Freeman to wear. To be honest, I'm sad that Sapp kept 21, because I would have liked the Ticket to get to wear #21 like his namesake.
And I'm glad that PE2 is wearing his father's number. There's something right about that.

There's something right about that. All of the single digit numbers are taken at this point. I too was hoping to see Freeman wear the Iverson number, but DaJuan taking it is cool too. Free wore the #5 jersey in the past for DeMatha and Assault prior to going with #3, but Jeremiah has grabbed that one (interesting, in that IMO he will play a similar role this year to the last guy to wear that jersey). I suspect he'll end up grabbing Izzo's #4, but that's a guess. Might look good in the DJ Owens/Fred Brown #20. Would have thought Vernon woulda gone with a higher number. JYD's 42, 44, or better yet Michael Graham's #50 mighta been really cool... he doesn't seem like a single digit guy to me, but we'll get used to it. The best news though, definitely, is Pat Jr. with the 33. I'm really happy he went with that. It's kind of setting the table for endless comparisons, but that's great, because he certainly knew that coming in, and embraced that, feeling confident that he could live up to the comparisons. It's a great gesture of respect to his father, to wear the same jersey proudly.

If you look at Egerson's individual page, it lists him as 6-6 so the 6-9 may be a typo.

Ugh.
I hate all those numbers.
Ewing DEFINITELY should not be #33.
Jeremiah has #10 written all over him.
Macklin should be #44.
Summers is more of #24.
The only single-digit man of the bunch is Ewing, who should've stuck with the 8.

If you scroll down the player descriptions, it has Summers as #4 and I believe GU has already talked to Freeman about being able to wear #3 too, so don't think that is a settled issue yet.

Sweet - really would love to see Austin take the 3. Summers doesn't strike me as a one-digit either. More like a 22 IMO. 21 for Ticket would have seemed obvious, but since it's taken, I would've seen him as a 4, but maybe that's just coz it's my favorite number . 8 would have seemed good too. I had Jeremiah down for the 0, but 10 works too. 5 has too many bad memories for me; in a few years maybe...

If Freeman isn't 3, he should be 44 like Victor.

Take a look at the weight information as well since that's just as telling as the heights and jersey numbers. Macklin, a supposed power forward, weighs only 11 pounds more than freshman backup point guard Rivers. Summers has solid bulk on him though.

Having seen Macklin on television in McDonald's and Hoops Summit, I'd say he's at least 220 right now which isn't terrible for someone who is a true frosh in college.

Looks like GU used the Rivals.com heights and weights for the frosh and Ewing. These tend to be inputted early on and rarely updated. Macklin, since he was on lists very early, is probably off more than someone like Rivers.

Why does the pronunciation guide only include two players?
Mark my words, we'll have only ourselves to blame later this season when Rick Majerus can't pronounce "Jeff Green."

Why does it say EDGE-er-son in the "PRONUNCATION" guide? I thought it was EGG-er-son.
