Just got a call from my family in Tulsa - according to ESPN radio in Tulsa and KOTV Channel 6 in Tulsa Georgetown will play Oklahoma State in the All College Classic in Oklahoma City. The tournament is a one day event usually held between Christmas and New Years. Should be a good game - we should win by 15.

Nice. We tried to get in on this last year, as well, right? Is the All College Classic usually televised?

Link to story For those too lazy to click: "The game will be played Dec. 21 at the Ford Center in Oklahoma City as a doubleheader with Oklahoma's game against Tulsa." Note that we are already scheduled to play at home against Towson on Dec. 20th, so this story may not be entirely correct.

With a game on the 23rd too that would be pretty tight.

As long as it's true that we're playing Ok St. at some point i'm happy. that would be very tight scheduling to fit that game in at the supposed date. There's a quality opponent for the OOC.

Not to stick my you-know-what in the mashed potatoes, but where are the RPI naysayers on this one? I mean, what reason is there to think OSU will be a better game than Oregon? The Cowboys went 6-10 in the Big XII last season, barely finished over .500, and lost their coach. I am not saying I mind a road game against a major conference opponent at all, but seeing as this is not going to save our RPI, I'm just surprised nobody has objected yet.

well from what i had read ( are you sure it was a book are you sure it wasn't Nothing?) that OSU was supposed to be a lot better this year and that last year was more of a transition/rebuilding year. but then again as i was trying to imply with my family guy i could be making this up.

The team has physical talent:
Jr. JamesOn Curry So. Byron Eaton Fr. Keith Brumbaugh Fr. Gary Flowers Fr. Obi Monuelo
were all Top 50 recruits, I think.
Mario Boggan is a really good inside player and of course, they have the immortal Aaron Petway.
[Seriously, what an awful coaching job from Eddie Sutton. Two McD's and a couple of JC All-American's and he goes 6-10 in the conference?]

Perfect game. This is a good team with a lot of talent at a tough arena. It will prepare us for the season.
If @michigan comes through even better. But this is exactly the type of game that we should play.
Incidentally, it is also the type of game Gonzaga gets absolutely fellated for. But of course, you only get the benefit of the doubt when your conference is terrible.
Either way, good game. We're still just one big home game away from as good as can be expected based on our situation.

they have the immortal Aaron Petway. So JT3's checklist for the game should be something like: (1) Win. (2) Avoid layovers in Hutchinson, Kansas at all costs. (3) If #2 is not possible, do not UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES answer cell phone calls from the 202 area code! It's a trap!!!!!!!!!!! I think the game's probably a mid-week contest after X-mas, either the 26th-28th or Saturday the 30th. www.okfordcenter.com/calendar/?rand=1028164160Getting a preview of that (EDIT: 2009 2010) 1st/2nd Round NCAA Venue in the OKC...smart guy, that JT3. ;D

Me like, although those dates don't really make much sense. I can't see us playing games on the 20th, 21st and 23rd, and of course there is no way we play at home on the 20th and in Oklahoma on the 21st.

The date is wrong. A) I think the Hornets have a game in the Ford Center on the same date, B) The game is traditionally played between Christmas and New Years. Here's what the OKState fans have to say - lots of respect: www.orangepower.com/showthread.php?t=25656

Btw, I have spaces for anyone who wants them - in Tulsa before the game - I guarantee you the best steak/chicken fried steak you've ever eaten at the Spudder. I also have contacts at Sigma Chi OSU if you really want to stay there ...

Btw - Ford Center is not a hard arena to play at other than against the Hornets - its a copy of the Verizon Center with similar acoustics. Worst place to see a concert ever.

If we do get this game our schedule is looking pretty good. I feel fairly confident that Oregon will win close to 20 games and be in the hunt for a NCAA bid. Too much talent and too easy of an out of conference schedule. Oklahoma State should be much improved as well. They had a ridiculous recruiting class last year although i think Torre Johnson got booted and Brumbaugh never actually played a game for them.

sounds like, per the article, they are still in discussions... not sure if the date is negotiable... -State to play Georgetown? By Andrew Gilman The Oklahoman Oklahoma State is working with ESPN and the Oklahoma City All Sports Association to play Georgetown in Oklahoma City's All-College Basketball Classic. "I hope it works out," said OSU coach Sean Sutton. "It would be a great series for us." Georgetown would play the Cowboys at the Ford Center on Dec. 21 in one of two All-College games. Oklahoma will play Tulsa in the other game. Both games will be aired on ESPN. Times have not been announced. If Georgetown agrees to play the Cowboys, OSU would play against the Hoyas in the 2007-2008 season, likely at the MCI Center in Washington, D.C. "I'd say it's about 50-50 right now," said Chris Turner, the senior director of programming and events for ESPN. "It's tough to get people to come out to Oklahoma to play Oklahoma State. But the Georgetown people like the event and they want to make it work. I talked to (coach) John Thompson and I didn't get a 'no' from him. I'm still waiting to hear back from him again." Turner said Florida State, coached by former Oklahoma State coach Leonard Hamilton, and Michigan State were also contacted to play in the All-College. Neither agreed. Meanwhile, Oklahoma State still hasn’t finalized its schedule for the upcoming season. www.newsok.com/article/2831139/(registration required)
