Will probably count as a neutral court game for RPI - I don't think OSU plays more than 3 games a year there which I believe is the magic number for counting as a home court.

Btw, I have spaces for anyone who wants them - in Tulsa before the game - I guarantee you the best steak/chicken fried steak you've ever eaten at the Spudder. I also have contacts at Sigma Chi OSU if you really want to stay there ... Can we meet with my classmate, Frank Keating, too, St. Pete's? ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

Oklahoma State fan here...
OSU usually only plays 1 game at the Ford Center in Oklahoma City every season. That one game has been the All-College Classic recently.
We are really hopeful that the Hoyas make the trip. It is nearly impossible to schedule a home-and-home series with quality opponents, so usually only through ESPN scheduling a "neutral" site game for the All-College Classic do Oklahomans get to enjoy hosting a good team.
The highly rated 2005 recruiting class, as a whole, didn't work out as planned. 5* Gerald Green - went straight to the NBA (no surprise).
5* Keith Brumbaugh - made it onto campus, but because of NCAA qualifying problems (long story), he left after 1 semester.
4* Roderick Flemings - left the team after his freshman year because of a lack of playing time.
3* JUCO Torre Johnson - left the team after his junior year because of work ethic issues.
Our lineup for this season will be: PG: 5* Byron Eaton - 5'10" 215lbs Sophomore - reminds me of Khalid El-Amin SG: 4* JamesOn Curry - 6'3" 190lbs Junior - combo guard, good shooter SF: 3* Marcus Dove - 6'9" 215lbs Junior - best defender on the team and can guard 2/3/4 PF: 3* JUCO Mario Boggan - 6'7" 240lbs Senior - can shoot the 3 C: 4* Kenny Cooper - 6'10" 260lbs Sophomore - rebounding is his strength
Backups: PG: 3* JUCO Jamaal Brown - 5'10" 200lbs Senior - combo guard and clutch 3 point shooter SG: 4* Terrell Harris - 6'5" 190lbs Sophomore - 2nd best defender on team and streaky scorer SF: 5* Obi Muonelo - 6'5" 215lbs Freshman - supposedly very athletic, but not great outside shooter PF: 4* Gary Flowers - 6'8" 205lbs Freshman - supposedly very athletic shot blocker/rebounder C: 0* David Monds - 6'8" 240lbs Senior - when motivated can be a monster...but usually not.
We have only 10 scholarship players this season. As you can see our recruiting has much improved since the 2004 Final Four team - no Division 1 transfers and fewer JUCO's. Most of our most highly touted recruits are underclassmen.
The only 3 players on this team that were on the 2005 Elite Eight team are JamesOn Curry (Freshman starting SG in 2005), David Monds (Sophomore 8th man in rotation - played behind Ivan McFarlin), and Marcus Dove (Redshirt Freshman 9th man in rotation - played behind Joey Graham). Only David Monds played on the 2004 Final Four team (Freshman 10th man in rotation). Marcus Dove was redshirting that year.
We still consider ourselves a VERY young team. Last season was a disaster as we had at times 3 freshmen starting. The injury bug bit us hard too - one game we could only suit up 6 scholarship players. In addition Coach Eddie Sutton's lingering back injury forced him to miss many practices and a game or two BEFORE he had his alcohol-related car accident. This will be Sean Sutton's first official season as Head Coach. The other 2 assistants from last season are still here though.
I hope Coach Thompson agrees to the series!

Thanks for the insight Chad - Is it fair to say that Eaton, Curry, and Dove will determine the success of OSU this season? Also what changes will Sean Sutton make to the offense and defense?
As has been noted in the thread the main problem is that neither team in this proposed series controls the scheduling at the arenas they are playing the games in (Ford and Verizon Centers) and there are NBA and hockey considerations at both. The Towson game we have apparently agreed to is also an issue.

got a chance to cover a game last year at gallagher-iba (where ok state usually plays) and needless to say they have very passionate fans. one of the best arenas i have ever seen a game at. last year when they played gonzaga in OKC, the place was full and it was very loud. i am sure that they will fill it with OSU fans for our game. sure there will be oklahoma and tulsa fans there too, so the OU fans might root for us. usually big 12 fans root for other conference teams in the non-con though. the ford center will host the Big 12 tournament this year and it is a great area in the midwest with passionate college basketball fans, much like Kansas City.
should be a good matchup as Sean Sutton can recruit with the best of them and has proven it, even if his players have not done as well on the court. if the game is played earlier in december i might be able to drive down from Lawrence to catch it, it is only a 4 hour drive.

That is true. I saw the OSU-Gonzaga game in Las Vegas two years ago, and there was a lot of orange at the Thomas and Mack. They are big fans of their team, so even if it isn't in their home arena, they should have a big home advantage, at least with the crowd.

I should think we'd have the clout to move the Towson matchup to the following week in order to go to the Classic on the 21st. Verizon center availability shouldn't matter, as Towson could always play us at McDonough.

Katz had OSU ranked 26th on his top 50 list: "What we like: The Cowboys are loaded with veterans, save the recent dumping of Torre Johnson. This is finally Sean Sutton's team and there shouldn't be any distractions now that Eddie Sutton has officially retired. Expect JamesOn Curry to bust out with a high-teen average.
What concerns us: Losing Johnson doesn't help the frontcourt depth and not having the elder Sutton will be an interesting twist. We're still waiting to see how Sean handles the pressure of this being his team.
Power-rating push: Oklahoma State will play Syracuse in the Jimmy V Classic in New York, giving the Cowboys a big-time opponent in early December. "

Thanks for your post Chad. Would be great to add a Big 12 team to the schedule. Ok St will be a tough out due to the home advantage especially. Hopefully it works out.

Trivia Question: When was the last time Georgetown played a Big XII school? Postseason or regular season, doesn't matter.
