You guys gave us a lot of thrills, thanks for the memories. To the Seniors, best of luck with your future plans.

As another member of the historic Class of 2005 my thank you does not even come close to portraying how I feel about this squad. This team gave my boys and me another great reason to be proud to be a Hoya.
May this season mark the beginning of something HUGE in G'town hoops.

Who'd a thunk It? 23-10, sweet 16, big east semis? Anyone who predicted it would have been flamed off the board as a crazy optimist or JT III aplogist. They did great. Let's just appreciate and look forward to next year. I can't wait. Go Hoyas!!!

Great job by the players, coaches, Hoya Blue, fans, and everybody involved with the program this year.
It's pretty amazing to me how much pride the Hoyas have brought to the students.
And this is only the beginning.

Like many of us -- and I am sure, like so many fans across the country are doing when looking at this particular Final Four -- I am still a little bit stuck in the "What if?" phase of my end-of-season grief cycle.
So many "what ifs?" in that Florida game, and it will be dificult for anyone to convince me that the better team truly won.
But as my hangover fades into oblivion like so many others before it, I am gradually letting go of the "what ifs?" and applying a little more perspective to what has been an outstanding season.
I'm not sure I can say anything that hasn't already been said in the 5 pages previous, so let me just echo my thanks to JTIII & all the seniors in particular, and all the Hoyas overall. I have my tapes to re-live some of these great memories, and while part of me will probably always bring up those "what ifs?" from time to time, they are easier to bear with the program where it is today and the promise of what could lie ahead.
And I want to add one more thanks to the list. Thanks to all the students. It's difficult with the cavernous pro arena that we play in, but you have made our home court more of a home court than it's been in years. You all deserve a lot of credit and praise for your spirit, enthusiasm, and hard work all season long. It's not perfect yet, and probably never will be until we open the John Thompson Court in McDonough Arena, but you are doing a great job. I'll say to you what we are all saying to JTIII right now. We love ya' and keep it up.

Thanks to all the players and the coaching staff... In two years, you have turned the program around all the way to the Sweet Sixteen. I cannot wait to see where we go next year (and the year after that).

It was exciting anyway. And you are also right about thanking the students, especially the leaders of Hoya Blue (007, et al.). Great, great enthusiasm there. Keep it up. Show the new incomining freshmen the way to cheer a team.

Show the new incomining freshmen the way to cheer a team. You know, that "et al." encompasses well over a dozen people...and if you're talking about volunteers who've made a meaningful contribution to Hoya Blue this year, it's even more...students whose enthusiasm has made a big difference to the atmosphere at the MCI Center and on campus, too many to count. I had a great idea for a series that I was gonna write starting in January about Hoya Blue...and then literally within a week encompassing their trip to Hartford and the Duke game, so many great things happened and the whole spirit thing really came of age that my entire premise had totally been passed by. If the people in the club can stand me doing follow-up questions, I promise there will be a great series of columns about the student spirit angle this season at some point during the summer. I think it'll be really neat, and it's the closest thing I can give to an actual "thank you" (or, you know, actually doing any work when i show up at their events). We'll finally find out what the R in SoCal85's name stands for too.

Thanks to everyone on the team for making the season the most enjoyable one that I've seen during my time as a Hoya fan.

Thanks to JT III for returning GU Basketball to it's proper place. Thanks to the seniors for their "hanging in there" through the darkness and the great effort to pull us out of the depths. Thank you to Hoya Blue and the students for all their efforts this year - the difference was dramatic. Thanks to DFW. WBH, Dan McQ and anyone else who helps with this board. And thank you to all of the above for returning this board and its community to a place where we can come during the day, take a few minutes off from our jobs, and enjoy GU hoops without being beaten to death by the rancor and negativity that made me stay away for weeks at a time during the darkness. And please, anyone who can, get the the Basketball banquet and give III and these kids the night they deserve. Let's give the Hoop Club a nightmare figuring out how to squeeze everyone into the Leavey Center.

Does anyone beside me think we had a team that could have won it all with a few breaks?

I agree, ed. A couple breaks here and there, we coulda had it all... Ihope the guys don't think it's always easy, that they work hard for it whenever they get the chance.

Absolutely agree. I honestly believe that Florida or LSU is going to steamroll through the Final Four. The fact that they are in the Final Four and not Nova or UConn is the issue of size winning tournaments. Only GU had the size in the Big East to challenge these teams. If Roy and Green stay with the new additions we should be bigger and at least as quick as this year. If Green, Roy, Ewing and Wallace can play together and incorporate the freshman phenoms things could get interesting throughout the season. Remember, we are not going to catch anyone by surprise next season. Is it November yet? ??
