I was sour about this team as the season went along, but my feelings have changed dramatically because of the way this team has grown up. I am a long-term fan of the basketball team, actually going back umteen years when I was a student at the school on a athletic scholarship, and then into the glory years starting with 1980. I am encouraged with this squad. I am further encouraged that this may be the beginning of another decade or so of outstanding basketball at Georgetown. However, the school must continue with a strong recruitment program -- let's hope that the Hoyas will stand tall and be a top-10 squad for years to come. Go Hoyas!!!! ;D

Thanks to everyone on the team from the top down and to the students, especially HB members, who energized the Phone Booth and contributed directly to the team's success.
In fact, you all did so well you converted swifty - whose standards are clearly high and who is obviously misunderstood by many here. Swifty: be sure to come back for the Centennial Year Celebration of Hoya Hoops in 2007.

I also would like to say a very proud thank you,to everyone, the team and anyone who loves this great university and has been there supporting from start to finish.Cause folks it wasn't the team that just made it possible,it was all of us.It was anyone who believed in gtown bball again,it was anyone who was there through all the tough times a few years back.it was anyone who just simply would turn the t.v on or look at the net just because it was gtown again.Yes, i had tears in my eyes last night and i'm not afraid to say it,Not just becasuse we lost,But because how proud i am and how far we have come. When i saw Ashanti walking towards the bench i wanted to reach out and hug him and let him know that he made me proud, they all did.In fact i have tears now writing this. This team has got to be one of the most loved of all time in gtown history,I would say the only one close to them would have to be Reggie and the miracles of 1987.I will never forget these hoyas ever, and i think i might even have a shirt made up that will say the rebirth of gtown bball March 24,2006 ,and with the names and numbers of our players Bowman,Cook,Owens. The triplets. Thanks guys, and remember, even though I do not have one,but i am smart enough to know there is nothing better in life to have than a gtown diploma. GO HOYAS IN 2006-2007,AND MAY 2005-2006 NEVER BE FORGOTTEN.

Wow. The morning after, and it still hurts like hell.
It means so much to me as a Hoya fanatic to read this thank you list tho. I mean, there is no pro or college team that means mroe to me than GU basketball. This is a somewhat tough thing: they play only 4-5 months out of the year, 32 games, and are all college kids still learning and growing. But I wouldn't trade 'em for the world. And I realize how lucky we are to have the whole squad of Hoyas- especially these seniors, Coach III and the rest. We became a family last year, and really tightened up I think this year, praying for Monica, putting some juice into MCI, etc. Let's get to work making next year great. We all do our part, we can keep the train going in 06-07, the centennial year of GU basketball.
Hoya Saxa!

One thing I realized while looking off into space after the final buzzer last night: I grew to love this year's Georgetown team as much as I have (almost) any Princeton team I've followed. To see these players grow, develop and begin to understand what Coach Thompson is trying to do as quickly (and as well) as they have has been a pleasure. Even with the great strides made over the last two years, I know that the "lightbulb" has yet to completely go on for the majority of the lineup and when it does, things are just going to get even more enjoyable to watch.
Warmly,
Jon
Ps. I will admit that I did twice as long a workout as I usually do before I went to bed after reading Hibbert's postgame quotes.

What an incredible year for an entire team and coaching staff of winners. It will be a long time before the memories of this season start to fade. For those who yesterday/early this morning participated in your last Hoya game, God Bless - and that includes those who did not even play in the game. Twenty-five years from now when you look back on the end of your basketball careers at Georgetown, remember the most important memory will be that you got your degree.

What a year! I'm about as diehard a sports fan as they come and I can't remember any other time where a loss left me with a smile on my face, but this team did it to me. The turnaround this 1 year made on Hoya basketball will be remembered for many to come. The senior class has alot to be proud of. I'll miss them but they left the sophs with a fire in their belly and a coach wanting greatness. Here's to 05/06 !!

Just joining the list to say thank you to AKD, DJ, Ashanti and Bobo. They ground it out and have won because of it (on many levels). I also thank JTIII and the whole team staff for the great effort and the students and the fans for their support. Great effort Georgetown community! Thanks to my those in my seating area at the MCI Center for the fun and thanks for the great group of fans up in the NY area including Megafan, Jahidi, Sir Saxa, and everyone else and all the great people who watch games at Proofs. Fun times for sure and I look forward to much more next season.
I usually can't look at this site for a few days after a loss, but it is not even noon and the joy of this year is already soothing the sting of the loss.
I wish all the best to the seniors.
Thanks, Gammo.

I'm just really sad we lost. Really sad.
We had three chances to effectively win with BB missing the shot to go up three...the missed rebound...and then DO missing the shot.
Not criticizing at all. Just too bad. I think at one point I turned to Cam and said...if you gave me tied game with 2 minutes to go I'd say game on.
We just missed shots. Good shots and we missed 16 of 21 3's.
Great effort and good defense all game. I'm just bummed because after watching other games I just felt we really could go all the way.
Oh well...let's get them next year.
Thanks everyone on the board and the team for a great year...

;D ;D ;D To the seniors and one post-grad: Ryan Beal Brandon Bowman Ashanti Cook Amadou Kilkenny-Diaw Darrel Owens In ways that alumni/fans can never fully "share" -- though most live and die vicariously with you -- your time on the Hilltop will be remembered as one that passed through a valley of despair (the "Georgetown has become irrelevant" article; the loss to St. John's after it lost most of its scholarship players) to a new dawn of transcendant hope and tangible achievement. And was that "achievement" your exceeding your seeding expectations by reaching the Sweet 16? Nah. Was it because you stunned the universe with the first of the '05-'06 season's wins by an opponent over #1 Duke? Eh ... nope! It was that 68-53 win over Syracuse on Senior Day at the Phone Booth! ;D As JT III said: “The Duke win was nice. This was nicer. This is Georgetown-Syracuse. That’s what it’s all about.” ;D Thanks to the five of you departing Hoyas for sticking it out through the hard times. Thanks to two of you whose limited minutes as seen by the rest of us at actual games IN NO WAY TELLS THE TALE of all the time, effort, and hard work you put in at practices to make the visible results at games possible in the first place. And thanks to all of you for playing with heart, through all the gut checks, to make the good times possible. To the two guys in the crazy blue wigs: Wow! Who'd have thunk that one East coast "nut" plus another "nut" from California could revolutionize, re-energize, re-vitalize HB into that "Sea of Gray" vision of OVERWHELMING student booster support we all saw swarming the court at the Phone Booth after the Duke win? Un-frickin'-believable! While the 1984 National Championship remains the pinnacle -- the view from the mountaintop standard of excellence that Georgetown hoops' history tells us this school can achieve -- the '05-'06 season will be remembered as one where significant altitude on the re-ascent was achieved. A humble thanks from just one of your grateful fans.

I believe it was Kentucky's class of '92 that was dubbed "The Unforgettables." Even though they didn't win the national championship, they turned around a once proud program and were the foundation of their re-emergence.
Now we have our own "Unforgettables."
Thanks to everyone, including players, coaching staff, etc. for putting TEAM in front of everything else all season. You'll all have a special place in my heart forever.

Great run indeed, Thanks for the thrills, Hoyas.
I feel especially happy for the seniors who had an opportunity to be part of something special. They came out of a different system and made this their own. Someday they will be able to say: "I was there when it began again." They are all very special.
Fondly, njcoach

Thanks to all the players for a great season. Seeing all the players stay close with a tough Florida team on a night when the shots wouldn't fall and the ball wouldn't bounce their way reminds me of why I became such a Georgetown fan in the first place. Best of luck to the seniors, and here's hoping everyone else is back strong next season to win the Big East. HOYA SAXA!

Everything has been said already, but I'll just chime in that it's been a wonderful season. More great memories than I can count, and I've loved to see old and new friends come out of the woodwork to watch Hoya games. I was talking at Proof with a girl who I couldn't have dragged to a game when were at Georgetown and she was asking me about "that Macklin guy." The smile on my face was 10 miles wide, even though we lost. The future is so bright, I need sunglasses. We were every bit as good as Florida last night, and just a little unlucky at the end. That's the game. We have not a thing to be ashamed of.
Finally, a shout out to the seniors. These guys all deserve our thanks for staying the course and for being fine representives for the University. They will all get their degrees and they all will have a chance to pursue a professional career somewhere. Thanks guy.
