Student tickets go on sale on Wednesday at 10AM. It seems that my plans to attend for the 3rd straight year are screwed, since I have a test then. Looks like I'm gonna have to work some magic or something. I must return to MSG.

RE BET tickets: if we do have the bye, just go to NYC and MSG...you will be able to buy tickets off a fan of a team that lost in the first round. I certainly don't advocate scalping so, you know, of course pay face value...but this strategy worked for me 2 years in a row.

How does the NYC ticket-buying market work? Do the fans of the eliminated teams sell their tickets right after their team losses? Or would it be right before the Gtown game? Are they usually really marked up?
Also, if anyone has any student ticket knowledge, do they sell students tickets to all 3(4) rounds, or one game at a time? How much $ are they?

Never been to BET, but most conference tourneys you can get tickets right after the game of the team that loses. A few people may stick around for some of the other games but most people probably sell.

2002 grad...when i was there, student tix were 40 bucks up front for a book of four vouchers. the vouchers were only valid for the sessions which georgetown was playing in...ie if we get a bye first round, your voucher will not work on the Wednesday session. you would exchange said voucher for a ticket on game day. if we are eliminated before the finals, you can exchange any unused vouchers for 10 dollars each. ie if we lose on Wednesday, 30 dollars come back to you. if we play an AM session, tix are easy to come by. the night sessions can get pricey depending on who is playing...UConn and Syracuse fans drive up demand, since there are so damn many of them that show up. the ticket demand is through the roof right now and the supply is not there, so scalping is not looking like it's going to be easy or cheap, unless you can track down an exiting fan of an eliminated team. friends of mine have done that in years past, with good results. i'd recommend the student ticket route.

Pretty much wanted to say that what the previous poster wrote was correct. On Wed. they will sell a piece of paper for $40 and will make a numbered list of the people in line. Then, the line will magically reform in the Box Office at MSG before each session we play in, and tickets will be distributed. If we lose, then you will get re-imbursed $10 per round in which we didn't play.

I remember at least one occassion where they refused to give back any of my money. Double check to see if that is still the policy.

Thanks, lic. But, do we want WVA to lose 2 and Pitt to lose their last game? That might give us a shot at a 3 seed if Marquette would accommodate us and lose. 3 seed is a better path to the finals than a 4.

I live in NYC and have been to the BET every year for the past 10 years. Tickets are ALWAYS available from scalpers outside the Garden but the best play is to check out the 'tickets' listing on craigslist.org. I usually wind up paying like $10-$20 fro wednesday games, and it can get up to $50-$75 for the weekend.
Good luck.

RE: craigslist and eBay tickets.
Be sure not to accept any 'ticketfast' or email tickets - when U2 played in Boston last fall there was a major scam run where the same 'ticketfast' tickets were sold repeatedly and only the first person who showed up at the door got in. Don't know if there will be any of those floating around, but be careful!

agreed. i went to the tourney in 2001 when we lost to seton hall in the first round...upon returning to campus i did not hear anything about the refund process and when i called the ticket office, i was told it was too late -they had taken a small advertisement in THE HOYA to alert people of the refund program - i'm talking 4 square inches. i wrote them a letter explaining why i thought this was a load of crap, and how, given that we sat through one of the worst games of all time, it does not engender a good relationship with fans to stiff them further. they relented eventually, but it took some effort. i'd find out their refund policy up front. I will warn students that the reimbursement for games we don't play has been shady at times in previous years. I remember at least one occassion where they refused to give back any of my money. Double check to see if that is still the policy.

in the past people from teams that lose start selling their tickets by the beer stands in the garden immediately after a loss. scalpers ask for crazy mark ups on the street. i sold an extra ticket to a scalper for the semi's one year for $100, which means he was confident in selling it for at least twice that.
is next week spring break for the students? when the BET & spring break have been different weeks the GU student sales have dropped considerably.

Spring break is next week. How will student ticket sales work? Just line up at McDonough? Anyone have any experience with how much demand there will be? Like from 2001 perhaps?

MassHoya, I got the call today from the ticket office telling me that they will be sending my tickets (ordered thru HHC) in the next couple of days.

Just wanted to fill in those who are interested about the scene this morning. I got to McDonough around 7AM and was #35. Only 42 tickets were sold. I'd say maybe 20-30 people were turned away, maybe more. Heard some stories about people at the front of the line sleeping out and some coming around 4-5AM. Certainly a different scene than in the past 2 years. I'd usually arrive 20 min early and be around #7. If I didn't have 2 midterms today I would've gone out earlier, but I needed some sleep. Also, less tickets were sold this year. I believe that they didn't get as many tickets due to the "new Big East."

Question about HHC member tickets - are all levels getting them this year? If not, how far down are they going?

From what I've heard, and plesae someone out there correct me if I'm wrong, but the only level of HHC donor that is guaranteed BE tickets are those who donate in the $2500/plus range. I even heard that season ticket holders who donate, say $500 plus the cost of their tickets, will be left out in the cold, unless of course, they have an in, whereby they may get a 400-level seat or something...
Before people go crazy, with success, things get tougher, the stakes go up, and I'd rather deal with paying/fighting for a ticket to watch a good team, than enjoy front-row seats to an average team!
