Maybe to intensify the crowd we could just have televised random arguments that get out of control on the screen such as between RDF and Big Dog. It would be utterly confusing to the crowd but would add a chaotic, anarchic and, yes, exciting tension that hasn't been seen since they closed down the fighting alley near Champs.

How about dumping the cheesy Sam Jackson, Jack Black, etc. "Let's Hear some NOISE" video clips. Why not have clips of AI or PE or JTII saying some of that crap. That would get me fired up. Braveheart was way better.

2) What if you had the "Hoya Saxa" chant shouted out by each of the four sides of the court separately. I think it is great when the two student sections chant one-at-a-time. If you can get each side of the court involved it would get the older fat cats to wake up. Maybe you do this... north side "We!"... southside "Are!"... eastside "George!"... westside "Town!" That sounds like an awesome idea. If the cheerleaders could pull this off, that'd be great and get the non-students into it too. Then again, I don't trust anyone outside the student and young alumni sections to really get anything going. But it's worth a shot.

That would get me fired up. funny that you mention that. MU has multiple clips on the scoreboard during games of different players saying things like "this is our house. fire up marquette" and the like. funny because if you made me remove one aspect of the bradley center atmosphere, it would probably be the player clips. no real reason. just don't like them as much. there's nothing like the clip of gene hackman in the locker room from hoosiers chanting "let's go! let's go!". that one has been a huge success. and for jerseyhoya and those that think MU/Crean's antics are not "big east worthy", check out this article from carolina. skip prosser flew out a member of the marquette athletic department to implement similar things at wake forest, after WFU got beat in the bradley center a few years back: www.journalnow.com/servlet/Satellite?pagename=WSJ/MGArticle/WSJ_BasicArticle&c=MGArticle&cid=1031780267381

I gotta agree with Dienertowade.
If there were clips of Roy, Saed, Izzo and PE2 telling the crowd to get on their feet and make some noise (maybe have them start "Hoya Saxa" or "We are Georgetown"), it would be awesome. I'd much rather have that then some random celebrity. And I know that most Hoya fans would respond.

Bears in funny hats...on unicycles!!! I am going to have to call you out for promoting the pro-bear agenda. Bears are godless killing machines with no souls.

One thing I would advise against is taking pointers from Prosser or using him as an example of what good programs do. I'll be more forgiving once he implements an offense and defense instead of the clown system they currently feature. The fact that he is more focused on replicating atmospheres than implementing some sort of team system is quite telling.

I think it's pathetic that we need to do anything to get people to cheer. I think that unfortunately the people who fill up the middle sections just have no interest in cheering on their team short of applauding on a good play. As much as people have complained about the "Let's Go Mountaineer's" cheer or the "U-C-O-N Ucon Ucon Ucon" cheer i was very impressed that all of their fans would participate in anything. Seeing as we can't get anyone besides the young alumni section to do anything. the Young alumni section kicks ass keep up the good work. as to all other section get off your asses and do something. Anything. Please. Do people honestly think if we give people a T shirt before every game they'll be more vocal?
I'm all for improving the environment and i agree we definitely have to get rid of the advertisements. they're defiant mood killers. But besides that I don't know what can be done that would actually provide any effect.

I sat in 404, a good enough distance from the clumps of orange-holes in the upper level. I observed, among our supporters, some of the markings of fair-weather fans. Fans clapped vigorously enough but rarely did they call by name a player. They wore fine clothes, so as to attract females, and drank soda, to avoid repelling females. Typically, the fair-weather fan will become more hostile late in the Spring, when it begins to rut . And if that season proves fruitful (as we hope it will) I think we can expect a more vocal following in the 2006-2007 season.

On the other hand, those hoya fans who don't talk much certainly don't travel much either. I'm sure everyone deals with it, but we've got the bad folks all together in an awful section. It's not that they don't care, they're just old. You've got a few crazy youngbloods likee myself in there, but we can't carry the section ourselve--AND NO ONE ELSE CAN--those people just don't get into the games like we do. It's a fact of life. Y'all gotta deal with it, basically.

Folks, I've said it before and I'll say it again -- IT IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR US TO GET A SERIOUS HOME COURT ADVANTAGE AT MCI.

Folks, I've said it before and I'll say it again -- IT IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR US TO GET A SERIOUS HOME COURT ADVANTAGE AT MCI. The school is much too small and the arena much too big. I do think it will improve as the Hoyas continue to shine in seasons to come, but I can't imagine ever having less than 30 percent of the seats available to opposing fans. We have GOT to get an on-campus arena.
That said, send me a personal email if you are interested in getting together to help make a REAL home for GU hoops a reality.
