The belts shall return. Rejoice. It was mostly like a 2 hour trip to the dentist. But boy did we need a BE win to avoid a full meltdown.
Fielder, Brumbaugh and even Cook are improving. Epps can't stay healthy for a full 40 minutes to save his life. Did he score once he returned? Styles aggressiveness returned which was nice to see. Struggled offensively, and man that wide open corner 3 could have made this finish a lot easier, but if he keeps playing that way the offense is there. Heath minutes are decreasing...thank goodness. Massoud is what he is. Bristol barely playing unfortunately is for the best.
I said from the jump that 2-5 was the goal for first 7 games. I don't know where that 2nd win will come from. But they got a shot at it.

Drew Fielder needs more minutes. Like big time. He is an offensive weapon out there.

Must give a big hand to Cook and his free throw shooting in the second half...He also played well on the floor. Every time I was upset he did not finish under the bucket, on replay, the fouls were very hard ones....Brumbaugh is our PG. He is a RS frosh who is handling the ball well against BE teams..Not perfect, but well. Sure better than Epps, and please no Heath bringing it up....Is Epps an injury machine? He sure sits a lot for multiple injuries..Styles still needs to learn to be out "go to" player...He just does not look like he wants to step up into that role...We need it.
But best of all, let us enjoy this win..It was big. Also, does anyone know if Trey McKenna is able to play for us yet? I thought he was cleared for second semester. Well done Hoyas, if not pretty, but the effort has stepped up.

Yikes. That was not a good game for the Big East. Disagree, that was a very on brand Big East game.

Styles player of the game for us.
Really like when Rowan & Fielder are out there together preferably with Styles.
A W is a W. Some good things happening. Let's take it to S. Hall next!

I do like the fact we are now 4-2 (really 5-1) in “close games”. That speaks to coaching and building a winning culture. Under Ewing we had a habit of losing these one possession games late.

Totally agree about Styles. Kid contributes even when not scoring a lot. Not a great defender—who is—but one of the high energy kids who should be on the floor most of the time.

Two things I don't get on the posts above...Yes Fielder would be good in the Massoud position but we really only have two bigs with 5 fouls to give each. And each of them need a break. So what it points out is that right now and next season that Fielder should be playing the "4" next to a legit 7' center where there is also Cook.
We are one player, maybe two, shy in the "bigs" department.
The other concern is why the heck save redshirt years with regard to McKenna...I know it is Cooley's MO to develop players over 4 years, but in this day and age with Transfer Portal money out there who knows long term with the longevity of any player. We need McKenna now.

Post-game observation in District E, the bar for Hoop Club postgame activities. Chico Church, Jerelle Benimon and Chris Wright there.
Overheard from a source that is in a position to know that the move to Potomac Yard is a done deal Furthermore, Georgetown was not asked about it beforehand - no surprise there.

We need McKenna now. First paragraph - dead on. Add a C to Fielder or Cook and you have a decent front court. For this year, we have to make do and ostensibly you want Massoud's experience on the floor in a one possession game. Massoud has to play better down the stretch though (dribbled ball off foot, he was in horrible position on the three with 9.5 seconds left, came over to help Brumbaugh on Nelson and fouled but didn't foul hard enough to prevent the shot). McKenna - the difference here in playing Drew McKenna is what - maybe winning 5 games instead of 4? Or 4 instead of 3? If that? You need a C and Drew McKenna is not a C. You're going to tell a kid who skipped his senior year of high school for you to burn a year of eligibility to play less than half a season for what exactly? Why would Drew McKenna agree to that? Why would we ask that? That's the kind of move that DMV coaches would raise their eyebrows at and question whether Georgetown has the best interests of their kids at heart.

Teams have been playing for 2 months together and he has been just working out. He wouldnt do anything of significance.

Take the W. The guys looked pretty decently I thought. They are what they are. Is styles / cook gone after this year? I like them, rowen and Fielder. Bristol always has good energy. All five need to improve - but they have potential. I’ll take Epps because he can create / just wish the ball didn’t always stop in his hands.
The rest of the guys, eh - just minimize the mistakes. Heath is most depressing, but he is what he is
