So you're saying how impressed you are with where we are under year 1 Cooley vs year 1 Shrew at ND?

I found this Epps debate to be interesting, and in general I agree with the premise that I'd rather have a strong defensive team than a strong offensive team, but there has to be a happy medium, i.e., you have to have someone who can put the damn ball in the damn basket, and Epps is by far the best player on the team at that, and no one else comes close (I guess Styles is second). Therefore, on this team Epps has to play major minutes if he's healthy. And I don't expect him to be recruited over either, as he's only a sophomore, and he should only get better. And the areas in which he is not strong (i.e., defense and taking care of the ball) will hopefully improve.

Notre Dame now KenPom #226, 10 spots below DePaul. Are these your first posts on this thread since the win? Really waiting in the bushes for days for your moment lmao

Really waiting in the bushes for days for your moment lmao a) I'm old enough to remember boya arguing for us to hire Shrewsberry over Ed Cooley b) ND's kenpom supports the argument that we're moving in the right direction. ND was in a better situation post-Brey than we were in (they weren't as bad as 2-37, they made their decision to part with Brey both amicably and early, which gave them time to try to retain players), and they chose the same Y1 strategy for 2023-2024 that we did - hit the class of 2024 hard and made the decision not to fill out the back end of the roster with grad students. We're a better team. I think Shrewsberry is going to be successful, but here's his headline quote from this morning :

I don't think the context helps, that's a rough quote.

I don't think the context helps, that's a rough quote. It's a harsh one but it's less so when you hear him preface it by saying "If you're not going to play hard"

I'd say the players bought in quite nicely to the harsh critique.

Waiting for Boya’s comment on that result You're going to have a long wait. OTOH, I would like to see at least a somewhat similar uptick in our performance.

Have beaten Wake Forest and Clemson in back to back games, both teams are top 30 KP ranked teams.
There are no throw away or punt years, either you build or you don’t.

Yea - a bastion of building success. I like Shrewsbury, but this post is comical. Didn't we beat Wake in a scrimmage and your boy Epps scored 40. Lol.

I saw those numbers too. Was shocked they hadn't raised it to get him more than that.

Be honest, if Gtown were on a 3 game winning streak after beating DePaul, Nova & Xavier we'd be very happy as fans right now, that's basically what ND has done after a rough start to their season. I'd bet my house you wouldn't let anyone say big deal Gtown is still 11-18. I get that many folks in Hoya land are already in portal mode, but you can't use rumors to knock the progress Shrewesberry has made with his squad overall. They're top 25 in defense with a truly young team that doesn't have one player averaging 1 block per game. IIRC Wake was missing a few starters during that game but if you want to have it as a feather in Gtown's cap I have zero issues with that.
