Is there a contractual agreement why we can’t play these non-conference crappy games on campus? Genuinely curious if it’s a legal thing or just us being idiotic. Loved what I saw from Rowan, Fielder, and 2nd half Styles. We have to play 16 home games at Cap One per the contract I believe. We have 19 home games at Cap One this year, so if 16 is the requirement this should have been in McDonough. I am legit curious to know the situation, if anybody knows. If Georgetown follows the Wiz/Caps to Potomac Yard in 2028-29, this problem will get even worse. The school and program really need to start examining other options.

Tough crowd. Heath is suffering from serious turf toe. He’s not healthy and has lost a fair amount of his speed from last year. I’m not sure if he will get better this season but lay off the kid. I have watched Heath play over the last few years (at various schools) and while I never thought he was a "star", he was always a very capable player, especially offensively. The guys could always find a way to score the ball. He does not look like the same player right now, and I have to believe he is fighting through some physical issues and doing what he can do try to help an undermanned team in his last season in college basketball. I hope his turf toe situation improves because he could be an important role player who helps this team down the stretch, if he can get back to his old self. Heath when he is right does a lot of driving off the dribble. He is doing none of that right now which tells me his foot is really bad.

He was penetrating last night and sliding through a crowded paint all the way to the basket. Nothing different from what I’ve seen from him in other years. For one of his baskets last night, he dribble around all the defense, got close to the basket and scored. The TV commentators mentioned how he had dribbled sround the whole defense. I agree that maybe he was trying to do too much with Epps out. He just had a frustrating game. Most of the team was off last night in the first half and it’s understandable. But the cupcakes are over. Let’s see what happens when we visit ND.

The thing with Heath is that he tries to do things he should not be doing. He is a catch and shoot player. He can score the ball. He is also a TO machine with ball handling and passing which actually seems to be getting worse with time. He should not be part of bringing the ball up court and/or driving the lane except when unchallenged. His handle is just off. That does not mean he cannot help us, he just needs to know how.

You can see it effecting him on the fast breaks - he looks so uncoordinated because the rest of his body is trying to move faster than his feet can. He can’t set himself up for shots the way he used to which is why he has been really inefficient shooting lately. Watch his games from last season compared to any game this season, he’s not moving the same at all.

My argument is simple to understand and the same as the other poster: he’s trying to do too much.
I have seen every one of his games in a Hoya uniform and it’s obvious that he’s not a good ball handler. If he was, and at 6’3”, he would be perfect at PG.

Brumbaugh had a solid game. Rowan is a menace on defense. He had 5 steals against Coppin St. and only 1 foul in 30 minutes. Against Syracuse, he had 4 steals against 4 fouls in 14 minutes. We haven't had those types of steal numbers since AI ?, but those were different steals jumping the passing lanes vs. digging it out.

Brumbaugh, Fielder and Styles all had very good games. Bodes well for coming previews when you add the incoming frosh we have for next year...EC building it methodically, but probably too slowly for some. I like what I am seeing. Will be nice when we get to a point where we must look out to replace any players who transfer out with our own portal entries, but not have to rely on them as "core".

The key is keeping those guys at Georgetown next year. Brumbaugh and Styles have already used their free transfer - they're not going anywhere, unless Styles unexpectedly graduates in 3 years and then decides to use his graduate transfer. Fielder's unlikely to go anywhere, either. He has a clear path to playing time here and appears to be a Cooley guy through and through (followed him from originally commiting to Providence).

I think we got a glimpse of what Brumbaugh and Fielder will be in the future. I've said for months that as Ryan goes so do the Hoyas. I expect that by February he and Fielder will be getting many more minutes and both will be starters next year.

Recorded the game as I was traveling and just watched it. One of those times when you have to be careful not to totally sell out your standards just because we got the W and a few guys played good games. Still...
#1 complaint from me is why didn't Ryan and the bench get more minutes or ANY minutes? Just boggles the mind -- even if EC waited until halfway through the second half. Just would love to hear the thinking.
If I stick to my other mantra and remember that the OOC games are to have us ready for the BE schedule, and I am, then I look for what happens when your main cog, Epps, is out and what results we see. Often, esp. in the second half, it was a bit looser and fluid, better ball movement overall, more scoring spread around. Which goes back to my main point: why not give bench riders some love in a game like this?
Ish is more than a streaky sharpshooter -- EC has him doing more weak side help on defense, and he has moments of rim protecting. He should not be dribbling the ball a lot. Catch and shoot on offense. Disrupt and harass on D. He also is calm, communicates constantly, and passes pretty well.

Allen and an experienced rim protector/shot blocker.

Not a great performance but a win is a win, and I think the team is executing better than it was earlier this year. No doubt playing against poor competition can make you look better, but I think the team and players are better understanding their roles and what they need to do to be competitive/successful. Winning any game without your best scorer is a good thing.
I also think they played better team defense than they were earlier in the year. It was a little deceiving that Coppin State scored as many points as they did in the second half. I felt like the Hoyas were playing good solid defense and Coppin State made some really tough shots. The small point guard for Coppin really got hot at one point and was making some contested shots.
Missing Epps not only hurt the scoring but it really exposed the lack of depth at the point guard position. The team did not look the same when Rowan was out of the game last night. I thought Rowan was very solid last night

Shoutout to the 400 sickos that actually went to the game and the others that watched it live. I chose the 2x 30 minute playback option. Not a lot to add other than put me down for Ryan has to get minutes. Especially when Supreme was getting cooked by his man. I feel like if Rowen can figure out his handle we have something but he’s going to have some ugly games against Big East pressure until he figures it out.

Not sure if Grant is ready to play (concussion) and Montgomery didn't play.

Not giving pt to bench players in that scenario is Ewing-esque (i.e., wrong). There was nothing to gain from that game. Give the walk-ons some run.
