With the caveat that Coppin is beyond terrible, we are playing much better defense tonight. They might be the worst D1 offense I’ve seen, and I’ve watched many an awful MAAC game. I don’t think there is much we can take from this game. Exactly, nothing to take away from this game and Cooley hasn’t used Mutombo and the walk-ons. Give the walkons some run against one of the worst college teams or they won’t see the court the rest of the season. This is the last cupcake of the season and it will be a miracle if we blow out a BE team.

Let’s assume we hold on here…
6-4 going into the last game vs ND and you can argue we are rightfully 7-3.
What’s funny is I think everyone on the board would gladly have signed for 7-3 through the first 10, yet most would also say they would revise their BE projections downward now.

We have let terrible offenses score so I will take shutting one down. I never said it was a monumental achievement, just that it is better than our previous (bottom of the barrel) defensive performance.
And as I say that we have a breakdown.

My only remaining objective for this game, aside from not clawing my eyes out, is to get the students to do a "Start the MARC train!" chant

I believe Heath has broken Nikita Mescheriakov’s program record for for hitting the top of the backboard.

Brumbaugh has been solid this game. He's been composed and has run the offense well, especially thus far in the second half. His absence was noticeable when he sat. I think the responsibility (with Epps absent) of being the primary point for a game can be big for his development, even if against Coppin St. His game reminds me of J. Kidd toward the end of his pro career (w/ Dallas) - not especially flashy but smart, composed, can hit a spot up 3, and can rebound the ball well (note: I am neither comparing him to nor calling him the next Kidd).

Basically the bare minimum of the expectations here. Cook and Brumbaugh played well. We hit 13/16 FTs.
The fact they scored 40 in the second half is not good though.

I believe Heath has broken Nikita Mescheriakov’s program record for for hitting the top of the backboard. Did Pat Ewing destroy Heath’s game or was the celebration when he was made eligible last year a bit over done? I feel bad for this guy. Seems like injury and a bad situation has really set him back.

That was just a brutal game from Heath. I know he scored a couple of baskets in there somewhere but every play he was involved in it seemed like something went wrong.

Not a thing of beauty, but a win nonetheless. We have to get better!

Heath should never dribble, never hold on to the ball for any length of time....It always winds up in disaster. With that said he can be an asset if he catches and shoots...Absolutely NOTHING else. Nothing. He has no clue as to where the handle is on the ball.
Meantime. loving Brumbaugh running the O...Fielder getting better day by day.....Cook needs to play smarter and get set in the key for rebounds.....Styles is our best player....Can't wait for the young guys next year. This is NOT good basketball folks.

He was never a good player. I was very surprised Cooley kept him. His positives appear to be that he’s a really good guy, inexpensive from an NIL standpoint, and can make open 3s. Everything else on the basketball court are negatives.

Brumbaugh had a solid game. … against a Kenner League team. Lower talent level than any Kenner League team. On the plus side, their coach played for the Bullets, Vancouver Grizzlies, and Super Sonics - a trifecta of teams no longer in existence!

Caleb Williams behind the bench. Is Epps not there at all? That seemed unclear to me from the announcement. I did not see him.

You’d have to be a real sicko to go to this game I plead guilty!
