Those four schools will make it even easier to root against this guy.

“Kentucky, Maryland, Villanova and Kansas are trying the hardest”
What he meant to say was, "Kentucky, Maryland, Villanova, and Kansas are the four highest bidders right now"
If I were Cooley I'd do everything I could to land the NDSU center

I hope Hunter informed Cooley a while ago that we weren’t in the running anymore.

Don’t hate the player hate the game. Hunter very intelligently just created a four way bidding war. If I was a college athlete I would enter the portal as soon as my value was high, because that’s where you make your money. These guys aren’t being paid for the revenue they bring in (these programs almost all lose money), they’re being bribed by programs to commit. Thus, in order to make money you must create a question of where you will play.
The best example (at least that I could find online) is the University of Miami poaching a guard from Kansas State with an $800,000 two year contract, and not offering any money to Isaiah Wong who has been a star at Miami since before the NCAA allowed bribery. Once Wong saw that payment, he said he’d be in the portal if they didn’t match the money for him. A week later he was paid.
Since the only way to get paid is to have an open recruitment, all good players should enter or threaten to enter the portal every year. If they don’t they’re missing out on money.

I hope Hunter informed Cooley a while ago that we weren’t in the running anymore. I'm sure he told Cooley exactly what the price tag was to stay in the running, so that's likely not a concern. The NDSU guy seems like a more affordable option that I would assume Cooley's money men will be all over. Can probably get him for a quarter of the cost depending on how adept he is at driving up his own bidding war.

No hate at all for the kid. He’s playing the game perfectly. Georgetown is the one looking stupid at the moment. Putting everything on hold for this longshot was very ill-advised. Have to admit it will still be fun to watch the terps fans react when he doesn’t pick them.

It's not like a recruitment 5 years ago where you're hoping your message on the official visit resonated and waiting to hear a guy's decision. Now it's a matter of bowing out of the bidding process. Hunter confirmed there are 4 bidders left. We don't know when our staff decided to pull out, but we can assume that they knew when they were out.

Should have a caveated that, but it’s more comforting to think that than that the staff has worded on every possible transfer/recruit since the HD visit.

Aidan trying to put the program in the best light as usual. Earlier this afternoon he thought Georgetown was still in it when we’ve now found out that the coaching staff was told this morning they were out. Aidan is a useful mouthpiece for those that want to use him that way and his commentary should be considered accordingly.

The initial offer I heard was actually much lower (800K). I believe they ended up raising it, but only if he was willing to commit to 2 years.

If this tweet were true I think HD would have mentioned Georgetown by name earlier today.

I think it's much more likely that he's trying to put himself in the best light.

Which is what everybody is doing. And I mean everybody.
